        We have developed biological signal measurement modules and PC-based data acquisition system. Biological signals included in this system are ECG, EEG, EMG, invasive blood pressure, respiration, and temperature. Parameters of each module can be controlled by PC through a data acquisition and control card. The data acquisition and control card can collect up to 16 channels of biological signals with sampling rate of 50~10,000Hz and 12-bit resolution. All measurement modules and data acquisition functions are controlled by microcontroller which receives commands from PC. All data transfers among PC, microcontroller, and ADC are done through a shared RAM access by polling method for real time operation. This system is being used in KKU BME Medical Instrumentation Laboratory in research areas such as ECG interpretation, high-resolution ECG, polysomnography, long-term monitoring of biological signals, design of intelligent alarm system, etc.

      • 부스터 반도체 광 증폭기를 이용한 파장가변 광원의 출력특성 개선

        We demonstrate a amplified wavelength-swept-source for the frequency domain optical coherence tomography. The laser output performance is improved by using a semiconductor optical amplifier with a booster amplifier which has a 1275nm of center wavelength, The laser generates 14 mW of average power and the wavelength tuning range of the laser is more than FWHM(full width half maximum) of 98 nm centered at the wavelength of 1320 nm.

        We suggest the optimal conditions for fabricating solid state dye and analysed its lasing characteristics. It is measured and analysed the output characteristics of solid state dye laser in various conditions such as pumping repeatition rate, input energy, molar concentration, and the length of dyecell, etc. The conversion efficiency of 40 % was obtained in this lasing material.

      • 파장가변 모드잠김 고리형 레이저의 제작 및 특성

        We demonstrate a wavelength swept mode-locked ring laser for the frequency domain optical coherence tomography. A laser is constructed by using a semiconductor optical amplifier, fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter and 2.6 km fiber ring cavity. Mode-locking is implemented by 2.6 km fiber ring cavity for matching the fundamental or harmonic of cavity roundtrip time to a sweep period. The wavelength sweeps are repeatatively generated with the repetition period of 77.2 kHz which is the parallel resonance frequency of Fabry-Perot tunable filter. The wavelength tuning range of the laser is more than FWHM of 61 nm centered at the wavelength of 1320 nm and the linewidth of the source is 0.014±0.002 nn.

      • MOCVD법에 의해 제조된 Fe₂O₃-TiO₂계 산화물 박막의 내식특성에 관한 연구

        Fe₂O₃-TiO₂artificial passive films were formed at the temperatures of 200-350℃ by low pressure MOCVD technique. The relationship between the formation temperature and corrosion resistance of the Fe₂O₃-TiO₂films was examined in acid solutions. Fe₂O₃-TiO₂films deposited above 300℃ were crystalline and the films deposited below 250℃ were amorphous. The dissolution rate of the Fe₂O₃-TiO₂films deposited at 200 and 250℃ decreased with increasing the formation temperature in 5 M HCl, but the films deposited at 300 and 350℃ hardly dissolved in the solution. The films deposited at 200 and 350℃ easily dissolved at cathodic potentials in 1 M H₂SO₄and HCl owing to te selective reduction of iron oxide components in the films. But, the selective reduction in the films deposited at 300 and 350℃ was suppressed. The Fe₂O₃-TiO₂films deposited above 300℃ have higher corrosion resistance than that of the films deposited below 250℃, because the former have high crystallinity and cotain high chemical resistant oxides.

      • 국산 회중석을 이용한 타이어용 Ice-Spike 제조에 대한 연구

        Tungsten carbides are produced by carburization of tungsten powder and the reduction of ammonium para-tungstate obtained from Korean scheelite. The ice-spike for the automobile tire are made from tungsten carbide mi ed with cobalt powder into various amounts through the process of the double sintering, and the product composed of tungsten carbide 95.5% and cobalt 4.5% is superior to all others. The various physical properties and fabricating conditions far the production of cemented carbide are also discussed. This paper is the starting point of the development leading to wide introduction of the products permitting to ice-spice, cutting tools, etc. by using of Korean scheelite.

      • 미세가공 시스템을 이용한 미세 그루브 가공실험

        The needs for precision machining of micro to milli parts have been increased as the industry require high quality products, especially for the micro-machining of IT products. The ultra-precision machining system is essential for the micro machining of fine structures, which insures machining accuracy, low systematic and random error and repeatability. In this study, we developed micro machining system, which is equipped with air bearing stage for ultra precision machining and also we present the results of V-grooving experiments, conducted by the developed system, to verify the performance of system. The results show that the machined V-grooving had good accuracy with repeatable stability.

        카라기난 분해효소 생산균의 분리, 동정, 및 효소생산 최적 조건

        해양 동식물, 토양 등으로부터 분리한 카라기난 분해능이 확인되었던 80여 균중에서 환원당 생성능이 가장 높았던 strain no.43 균주를 최종 시험균주로 선택하여 이 균주의 최적 효소 생산 조건을 실험하였다. 질소원으로는 nutrient broth 0.7% 농도가 가장 적절한 조건이었고, 탄소원의 농도는 카라기난 0.2%가 가장 높은 효소활성을 나타내었다. NaCl 농도는 1.5%, pH, 온도는 각각 7.0, 30℃로 이 조건에서 96시간 배양하는 것이 가장 적절한 효소 생산 조건이었음이 확인되었다. 각종 생화학 실험을 통해 동정을 행한 결과 그람음성 간균으로 oxidase, catalase 생성의 호기성균, indole 비생성, proline, arginine, serine, citrate, lactate 이용성, gelatin 액화, glucose, fructose, maltose 비이용, mannitol 이용 등의 특성으로부터 Pseudomonas alcaligenes로 동정할 수 있었고 Pseudomonas alcaligenes JCL-43으로 명명하였다. The 80 strains which produce carrageenan degrading enzyme were isolated from soils, mud, seaweed, marine moluscus and echonodermata samples. Among them, one isolated strain, which showed the highest activity to produced carrageenan degrading enzyme, was used for this study. The isolated strain was identified as Pseudomonas alcaligenes through its morphological, biochemical, and physiological characteristics. The best conditions for enzyme production were 0.7% nutrient broth and 0.2% carrageenan as nitrogen and carbon source, respectively. The optimal pH, NaCl, temperature and culture time for carrageenan degrading enzyme were 7.0, 1.5%, 30* and 96hrs, respectively.

      • 여성 요실금에서 Kontinence™와 Compact Elite™의 치료효과 비교

        Biofeedback and pelvic floor electrical stimulation are new modalities that have been advocated for the treatment of female urinary incontinence. The aim of this study was to compare prospectively the therapeutic effect of Kontinence™(HMT Co., Korea) with Compact Elite™(ECL Co., France) in female urinary incontinence. All patients were evaluated with a complete history, physical examination, urinalysis, urine culture and urodynamic study. Eighteen patients were treated with Compact Elite™, and thirteen patients with Kontinence™. Enrolled patients had completed 8 office sessions consisting of biofeedback and intravaginal electrical stimulation according to the program of each machines. Overall treatment response was graded by patients on a scale of complete cure to aggravation. At two weeks after last session, overall improvement rate was 78% in Compact Elite™group and 92% in Kontinence™group(p>0.05). Overall patients' acceptability during treatment course was greater than 80% in both machines(p>0.05). There were no unexpected clinical findings during Kontinence™ treatment. After Kontinence™treatment, there were no laboratory changes including electrocardiography, complete blood count, liver function profile, and chest PA. These results showed that the biofeedback and electrical stimulation with Kontinence™was safe and moderately effective for female urinary incontinence comparable to Compact Elite™. However, long-term results of a larger patients are needed to ensure the therapeutic effect of Kontinence™.

      • Unidirectional Wavelength Swept Mode-Locked Laser

        We describe a unidirectional wavelength swept mode-locked ring laser for frequency domain optical coherence tomography. The laser was constructed by using a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA), a fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter(FFP-TF), and a 3.350 ㎞ optical fiber ring cavity. Mode-locking is implemented by using an optical fiber ring cavity for matching the fundamental of cavity roundtrip time to the sweep period. In addition, we describe a unidirectional wavelength sweep operation by using a modulated SOA and two optical output couplers for high sensitivity of optical coherence tomography system. The wavelength sweeps are repetitively generated with repetition rate of 60.9 ㎑, and the wavelength tuning range of the laser is 110 ㎚(FWHM) centered 1310 ㎚. The coherence length of the laser was 2.8 ㎜.
