Two new species of Camellia (Theaceae) are described from Vietnam: Camellia vuquangensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen and Camellia hatinhensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen. The new taxa were col- lected from Vu Quang National Park in the center of Vietnam. The new finds are morphologically dissimilar to all known Camellia species. Recent Camellia discoveries have increased the number of species recorded in Viet- nam from 50 to 75, making Vietnam a center of diversity and a crucial area for more research into the diversity and distributions of Camellia.
Advanced Magnetic Materials Produced by Using Rapid Quenching Technology

Amorphous alloys produced by using a rapid quenching technique are considered to be a precursor for producing nanosized and multiphase structures by precipitation (the top-down method). By using this technique, several new magnetic materials with different magnetic properties based on different physical mechanisms have been manufactured and investigated. Three new magnetic materials, a nanocrystalline soft magnetic material, a soft-hard permanent magnet and a Me-3d granular alloy with a GMR effect, what were prepared under local conditions, are presented and discussed in the experimental point of view. Background Androgens and androgen receptor (AR) are critical regulators of the masculinization process in male sexual development. The absence of a functioning AR results in the development of the androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), a rare disorder of sexual development (DSD) characterized by the external genitalia feminization, gynecomastia, and impaired spermatogenesis. Objective To determine the AR gene mutations associated with male DSD in four unrelated Vietnamese patients. Methods To detect the disease-causing mutations, whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed on four patients diagnosed with AIS. Sanger sequencing was then used for validation of the identified mutations. Finally, 12 web-based tools, three-dimensional protein modeling software, and the guidelines issued by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics were used to assess the potential pathogenicity of these mutations. Results Four distinct novel mutations, namely c.1834T > A (p.Cys612Ser), c.2122 C > G (p.Leu708Val), c.2630T > G (p.Phe877Cys), and c.2641 C > A (p.Leu881Met) in the AR gene, were identified in four AIS patients using WES. The in silico analysis results revealed that the Cys612, Leu708, Phe877, and Leu881 sites are important for an appropriate response to androgens of the AR, and mutation at these sites can have adverse effects on the AR functions, androgen–AR interaction, and AR signaling pathway. Conclusions WES and in silico analyses strongly suggested that four novel AR mutations are pathogenic and have led to the development of AIS in the four Vietnamese patients under consideration.
Factors Affecting Night-Time Economic Development: Research in Hanoi, Vietnam

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore the factors which influence the night-time economic development in Hanoi, Vietnam. The results can help policymakers achieve a scientific basis to plan the development of night-time economy in Hanoi. Research design, data and methodology: The research model is developed from literature review with 7 independent variables, including natural conditions and resources, infrastructure, safety, environmental issues, promotion and international integration, development of sharing economy, and institution and policy. This model is then adjusted by exploratory factors analysis to have 4 new variables: Institution and environment, Infrastructure and safety, Promotion and sharing, and Nature and resources. The model is regressed based on the data of 463 observations of night-time economy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Results: Consistent with the current literature addressing night-time economy, the results show positive impacts of all of the independent variables studied. Conclusions: It is recommended for the local authorities to strengthen advertising and promoting investment for NTE development in Hanoi city and also enhance the role of state management in NTE activities by raising awareness of the state management apparatus towards a more open-minded multi-dimensional view of the NTE, developing the NTE to overcome the barrier of thinking “if it cannot be managed, it is forbidden” in state management agencies, and defining responsibilities and authority among state management agencies in the management of NTE activities and strengthening decentralization and decentralization of powers for localities in the management and development of NTE.

<P>Electrically conducting nano (micro) poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) fiber non-woven web was fabricated using the electrospinning technique by applying high voltage of 10 to 30 kV to the electrospinning solution. To investigate the effects of various conditions on formation and properties of PEDOT fiber non-woven web, we changed the solvent or other components and their concentrations. We used 1-propanol or 1-butanol as a solvent and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) as a matrix polymer to prepare the electrospinning solution. The electrical conductivity of the electrospun PEDOT non-woven web was as high as 7.5 S/cm when 1-propanol was used as the solvent. Electrochemical capacitor was assembled using one pair of the PEDOT non-woven webs as the electrodes by a simple stack method, where metal plates were used as current collectors. We observed the electrochemical charge and discharge behavior of the capacitor, confirming that the PEDOT non-woven web can be used as the electrode for flexible electrochemical capacitor.</P>
Estimating Hemodynamic Response using Recursive Instrumental Variable Method

Hemodynamic response (HR) of brain regions is relative to neuron activity. Therefore the estimation of HR can supply the information of activation brain areas. And the paper proposes a new method for estimating HR by using recursive instrument variable (RIV) algorithm. The estimation in this method is based on the measured brain signals and the computed desirable HR. The convolution between stimuli and a basis functions is used to generate the desired HR. In this present study, arithmetic experiment is performed and fNIRS technology is used to measure brain signals in the prefrontal cortex. And the RIV method is applied to estimate the HR in the prefrontal cortex. The experimental result demonstrates that the estimated HR tracks the real HR in active channels. And the estimated parameter in GLM is considered as strength activity of all channels. This parameter is positive and stable in active channels and less than or equal zero in inactive channel.

The paper presents a method for measuring the absolute hemoglobin concentration using a multiple optodes configuration. The functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is used for obtaining the data of the right individual two-finger movement (i.e., thumb and index fingers) in the left motor cortex. The measured light intensities of four healthy male subjects are converted to the absolute hemoglobin concentration levels by using the spatially resolved spectroscopy approach. The t-value of each channel is computed for generating the activation brain map. It is noteworthy that our work is firstly about detection of the active positions in the same brain region using the fNIRS technique with multiple optodes configuration. The experimental results revealed that the proposed method could measure the absolute hemoglobin concentration. The active channels of individual two-finger movement were found in the different territories. However, it also had the active overlapped areas between the index and thumb finger movement.
