<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Signals obtained in fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) often contain biexponential decay components, and unmixing of them is a critical issue in FLIM especially for fluorescence resonance-energy-transfer (FRET) applications. Even though the analog mean-delay (AMD) method is the fastest fluorescence lifetime measurement scheme for point-scanning confocal microscopy, its ability to analyze biexponential decay signals has not been demonstrated, yet. In this paper we have demonstrated that biexponential decay signals can be effectively analyzed with the AMD method. Effects of various measurement conditions on the accuracy of biexponential decay signal analysis are presented with numerical simulations and experimental demonstrations.</P>
First Report of Brain Abscess Associated with Pseudozyma species in a Patient with Astrocytoma.

<P>A yeast-like strain was isolated from the brain abscess of a patient diagnosed with astrocytoma. Morphological and molecular analysis on D1/D2 domain in the 26S rRNA gene and internal transcript spacer region of the strain revealed that the strain belonged to the genus Pseudozyma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the isolation of a Pseudozyma strain from brain abscess.</P>

Until recently, work on compact metallic heat exchangers has sparked interest amongst heat exchanger manufacturers due to its enhanced thermal performance and energy saving benefits in comparison to conventional heat exchangers. Nevertheless, the operating limitations of these metallic heat exchangers have created the need to develop alternative units. It has been argued that the use of plastics can cause problems during design and manufacture owing to their low strength, relatively poor thermal conductivity and large thermal expansion. However, the advantages of plastics e.g., corrosion resistance, low cost, curtailment of weight, design flexibility etc., can compensate abundantly for the disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to develop high efficiency plastic oil cooler which can alternative metallic oil cooler. The performance analysis of various plastic tubes with oval type is accomplished by use of computational programs Fluent 6.3 and Ansys 10.0.

High oil prices have a huge impact on various industries, businesses and individuals daily lives. In addition, it is expected that various means of transportation using eco-friendly power will gradually increase due to the intensification of regulations on greenhouse gas emissions of existing internal combustion engines. Among them, small mobility is expected to gradually increase in demand as one of the economical and convenient short-distance transportation means due to the steady increase in single-person households. For this, lightweight technology is required. Therefore, in this study, we will look into the lightweight bumper structure that integrates the steel hood and fender with the plastic bumper among the current vehicle body exterior panels.
