Impacts of Capital Structure on Business Efficiency of Listed Joint Stock Commercial Banks in Vietnam Stock Market

DOAN, Quyen Thuc,HO, Thu Thi Hoai,DOAN, Quynh Huong Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.8

This study aims to examine the influence of capital structure on the business efficiency of joint stock commercial banks listed on the Vietnamese stock market. The article uses data collected from the financial statements of 15 prominent joint-stock commercial banks out of 27 joint-stock commercial banks listed in Vietnam from 2011 to 2021. The research uses E-view software in quantitative analysis to build regression models to determine the relationship and the impact of capital structure factors on the business efficiency of listed joint stock commercial banks. Research results show that ROA is affected by 2 variables of capital structure. It is the sum of customer deposits to total assets and total liabilities to total equity. Total debt to total equity and total customer deposits to total assets both have a negative effect on ROA. For the regression results of ROA with all control variables, the control variables have a positive relationship with the dependent variable. The article has provided recommendations based on the research findings to determine the proper capital structure. Managers must solve the outstanding amount of mobilized capital in previous years, combined with the bad debt handling activities that have arisen.

Factors Affecting Accounting Policy Choice: Evidence from Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam

DOAN, Anh Thi Thuy,LE, Binh Thi Hai,LE, Nguyet Thi My,DANG, Ly Ai Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.9

The purpose of this study is to determine the direction and significance of variables influencing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) decisions regarding accounting policy in Vietnam. Research data was collected through a survey of 296 subjects, including chief accountants, accountants, managers, and lecturers with practical experience in accounting work at enterprises. With the help of specialized software SPSS, determining the impact of factors on the choice of accounting policy of enterprises is done through a multivariate regression model with control tools Cronbach's alpha determination, EFA factor analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis. Research results show that there are seven factors affecting the choice of accounting policy in Vietnamese SMEs; in which, the factors information technology, legal environment, information demand, manager's awareness, and accounting qualification have a positive impact; and two factors are tax pressure, and financial leverage have a negative impact on accounting policy choice. These results are consistent with most of the previously published studies. However, in contrast to many previous studies, our research shows that accounting's psychological factor does not affect the accounting policy choice. This is consistent with the characteristics of SMEs in Vietnam because the role of accountants is not appreciated in the business.

      • Charge Transport in MoS2/WSe2 van der Waals Heterostructure with Tunable Inversion Layer

        Doan, Manh-Ha,Jin, Youngjo,Adhikari, Subash,Lee, Sanghyub,Zhao, Jiong,Lim, Seong Chu,Lee, Young Hee American Chemical Society 2017 ACS NANO Vol.11 No.4

<P>Despite numerous studies on two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures, a full understanding of the charge transport and photoinduced current mechanisms in these structures, in particular, associated with charge depletion/inversion layers at the interface remains elusive. Here, we investigate transport properties of a prototype multilayer MoS2/WSe2 heterojunction via a tunable charge inversion/depletion layer. A charge inversion layer was constructed at the surface of WSe2 due to its relatively low doping concentration compared to that of MoS2, which can be tuned by the back-gate bias. The depletion region was limited within a few nanometers in the MoS2 side, while charges are fully depleted on the whole WSe2 side, which are determined by Raman spectroscopy and transport measurements. Charge transport through the heterojunction was influenced by the presence of the inversion layer and involves two regimes of tunneling and recombination. Furthermore, photocurrent measurements clearly revealed recombination and space-charge-limited behaviors, similar to those of the heterostructures built from organic semiconductors. This contributes to research of various other types of heterostructures and can be further applied for electronic and optoelectronic devices.</P>

Antioxidant activity of different cultivars of Chrysanthemum morifolium and quantitative analysis of phenolic compounds by HPLC/UV

Doan Tham Thi Mong,Tran Gia Han,Nguyen Toan Khac,Lim Jin Hee,Lee Sanghyun 한국응용생명화학회 2024 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.67 No.-

Chrysanthemum morifolium is classified within the Asteraceae botanical family and serves as a phytomedicine in many countries. The objective of this study was to quantitatively analyze twelve phenolic compounds through HPLC/ UV and to assess the antioxidant abilities using the DPPH and ABTS+ assays in the leaves and flowers of six cultivars of C. morifolium: ‘Geumsu’, ‘Ilonka’, ‘Silvia’, ‘Pompadour’, ‘Yes Holic’, and ‘Ford’. The results indicated that the leaves of ‘Geumsu’ and ‘Ford’, as well as the ‘Pompadour’ flowers contained high levels of phenolic compounds and exhibited strong antioxidant abilities. Additionally, a relationship between the phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities was observed. These findings provide foundational knowledge about C. morifolium cultivars, which are promising natural sources that can offer health benefits.

Gallic acid regulates body weight and glucose homeostasis through AMPK activation.

        Doan, Khanh V,Ko, Chang Mann,Kinyua, Ann W,Yang, Dong Joo,Choi, Yun-Hee,Oh, In Young,Nguyen, Nguyen Minh,Ko, Ara,Choi, Jae Won,Jeong, Yangsik,Jung, Min Ho,Cho, Won Gil,Xu, Shanhua,Park, Kyu Sang,Park, The Endocrine Society 2015 Endocrinology Vol.156 No.1

<P>Gallic acid [3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid (GA)], a natural phytochemical, is known to have a variety of cellular functions including beneficial effects on metabolic syndromes. However, the molecular mechanism by which GA exerts its beneficial effects is not known. Here we report that GA plays its role through the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and by regulating mitochondrial function via the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator1α (PGC1α). Sirtuin 1 (Sirt1) knockdown significantly blunted GA's effect on PGC1α activation and downstream genes, suggesting a critical role of the AMPK/Sirt1/PGC1α pathway in GA's action. Moreover, diet-induced obese mice treated with GA showed significantly improved glucose and insulin homeostasis. In addition, the administration of GA protected diet-induced body weight gain without a change in food intake. Biochemical analyses revealed a marked activation of AMPK in the liver, muscle, and interscapular brown adipose tissue of the GA-treated mice. Moreover, uncoupling protein 1 together with other genes related to energy expenditure was significantly elevated in the interscapular brown adipose tissue. Taken together, these results indicate that GA plays its beneficial metabolic roles by activating the AMPK/Sirt1/PGC1α pathway and by changing the interscapular brown adipose tissue genes related to thermogenesis. Our study points out that targeting the activation of the AMPK/Sirt1/PGC1α pathway by GA or its derivatives might be a potential therapeutic intervention for insulin resistance in metabolic diseases.</P>

      • Precision Control for Ionic Polymer Metal Composite Actuator Based on Quantitative Feedback Theory

Doan Ngoc Chi Nam,Dinh Quang Truong,Yoon Jong Il,Ahn Kyoung Kwan 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

An ion polymer metal composite (IPMC) is an Electro-Active Polymer (EAP) that bends in response to a small applied electrical field as a result of mobility of cations in the polymer network and vice versa. Recently, IPMC is widely applied in many fields such as biometric, biomedical and micro manipulator fields. This paper proposes a robust position controller for IPMCs which is based on the quantitative feedback theory (QFT). Firstly, the IPMC actuation was investigated. The PRBS input voltage signals were applied to the IPMC in order to identify the system characteristic. Consequently, the QFT controller for the IPMC was designed from the identified IPMC model. Experiments were carried out to validate the effectiveness of proposed controller applied to the IPMC.

Analytical Study of the Impact of the Mobility Node on the Multi-channel MAC Coordination Scheme of the IEEE 1609.4 Standard

( Doan Perdana ),( Ray-guang Cheng ),( Riri Fitri Sari ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.1

The most challenging issues in the multi-channel MAC of the IEEE 1609.4 standard is how to handle the dynamic vehicular traffic condition with a high mobility, dynamic topology, and a trajectory change. Therefore, dynamic channel coordination schemes between CCH and SCH are required to provide the proper bandwidth for CCH/SCH intervals and to improve the quality of service (QoS). In this paper, we use a Markov model to optimize the interval based on the dynamic vehicular traffic condition with high mobility nodes in the multi-channel MAC of the IEEE 1609.4 standard. We evaluate the performance of the three-dimensional Markov chain based on the Poisson distribution for the node distribution and velocity. We also evaluate the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) effect for the multi-channel MAC coordination scheme of the IEEE 1609.4 standard. The result of simulation proves that the performance of the dynamic channel coordination scheme is affected by the high node mobility and the AWGN. In this research, we evaluate the model analytically for the average delay on CCHs and SCHs and also the saturated throughput on SCHs.

Localized Growth and Integration of Carbon Nanotubes on Micro-Hotplates

Doan Duc Chanh Tin,Dang Mau Chien,Danick Briand,Gregor Schurmann,Nicolaas F. de Rooij 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5

This paper reports on the localized growth and integration of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on micro-hotplates used as gas sensors. CNTs were grown directly on micro-hotplates coated with an optimized thickness of Ni catalyst by using the heat provided by the integrated micro-heater. The in uence of process parameters, such as the methane ow, the temperature and the growth time, was investigated to optimize the integration of the CNTs. We are developing Pt electrodes with a reduced gap by using e-beam lithography and investigating the application of an electric eld between these electrodes during CNTs growth to improve their electrical connection by orientating the direction of their growth to be perpendicular to the electrodes.
