        Fiber Positioner Based on Flexible Hinges Amplification Mechanism

        Due to the nonlinear effect and the thermal effect, a single optical fiber has limitations in the output power. A beam combination of laser arrays based on adaptive optics can both improve the output power and ensure higher beam quality. This article puts forward one novel fiber positioner structure based on the flexible hinges amplification mechanism, which is the adaptive fiber optics collimator (AFOC), to correct tip-tilt aberration. The theoretical model was established, and the amplification ratios between the output displacement and device's structure parameters were calculated. The first 6 orders of the mode shape of the vibration of amplification mechanism was obtained by using a modal analysis. Analysis results revealed an excellent performance for the flexible hinges amplification mechanism. The novel fiber positioner has good prospects for applications in laser beam combination systems for ideal tip-tilt control.

        Refined numerical simulation in wind resource assessment

        A coupled model system for Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) was studied. Using a mesoscale meteorological model, the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, global-scale data were downscaled to the inner nested grid scale (typically a few kilometers), and then through the coupling Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) mode, FLUENT. High-resolution results (50 m in the horizontal direction; 10 m in the vertical direction below 150 m) of the wind speed distribution data and ultimately refined wind farm information, were obtained. The refined WRF/FLUENT system was then applied to assess the wind resource over complex terrain in the northern Poyang Lake region. The results showed that the approach is viable for the assessment of wind energy.

        혈연(血緣)에 기초한 가족애의 양로(養老)모델(가족 부양)은 유가(儒家)에서의 효친을 기반으로 하는 “추애(推 愛)”적 윤리이고 개인의 자유와 독립 그리고 사회적 수요를 기반으로 하는 양로(養老)모델(사회적 부양)은 묵가(墨 家)의 “겸애(兼愛)”적 윤리이다. 유가의 “추애(推愛)” 사상은 현대 사회 친자윤리 사상 재건의 기초이지만 경직화되어 있고, 묵가의 “겸애(兼愛)” 사상은 현대 사회 친자윤리 사상을 재건하는 방향이지만 상당히 이상적이라는 한계를 지닌다. 따라서 혈연(血緣)에 기초한 가족애의 양로모델(가족 부양)과 개인의 자유와 독립 그리고 사회적 수요를 기반으로 하는 양로모델(사회적 부양)의 유기적 결합은 “유가(儒家)와 묵가(墨家)의 상호 보완”이라는 윤리적 사상이다. 또한 유가와 묵가의 문화적 상호보완을 제기하는 것은 현시대 친자윤리 사상 재건에 있어 보편적 내용을 담고 있는데, 이는 가족부양과 사회적 부양의 미흡한 부분을 보완할 뿐만 아니라 오늘날 제기되고 있는 사회적 부양에 대해 동아시아 문화권의 윤리적 지도(指導) 역할을 할 수 있다. Elderly care models relying on blood ties are based on the extension of love between children and parents which Confucianism understands as natural. Elderly care models which rely on society and which stress social needs as well as the independence and liberty of individuals, could be based on Mohism, in which the core value is universal love. Although Confucianism could be the basis for revitalizing the norms of children-parent relationships, it is too rigid to apply in modern society. Although the universal love which Mohism stresses could be an adequate basis to rebuild the norms of children-parent relationships, it is too utopian to apply in modern society. This article proposes an ethical theory in which Confucianism and Mohism complement each other in order to balance the burden of elderly care between society and families. By revitalizing the norm of children-parent relationships, this combined ethical theory may provide ethical guidance for the social care of the elderly.

        Treatment of oily wastewater from cold-rolling mill through coagulation and integrated membrane processes

        The feasibility of applying coagulation-integrated microfiltration (MF) as a pretreatment for an ultrafiltration (UF) feed in oily wastewater treatment was investigated. The effects of different coagulants on oil removal rates from wastewater were studied. The maximum oil removal rate of 82% was obtained after coagulation with 130 mg/L of polyaluminium chloride (PAC). UF flux reached 95 L/(㎡·h) with coagulation-integrated MF as pretreatment. This value was 2.5 times higher than that flux obtained without pretreatment. The value of UF flux increased as the transmembrane pressure (TMP) and cross-flow velocity (CFV) of the UF module increased. UF flux gradually increased when TMP and CFV exceeded 0.4 MPa and 3 m/s, respectively, because of concentration polarization and membrane fouling stabilization. Chemical oxygen demand reduction and oil removal rate reached 95.2% and 98.5%, respectively, during integrated membrane processing with a PAC concentration of 130 mg/L, TMP of 0.4 MPa, and CFV of 3 m/s for UF. In addition, sequentially cleaning the fouling membrane with NaOH and HNO₃ aqueous solutions caused UF flux to recover to 90%. These encouraging results suggested that the hybrid integrated membrane process-based coagulation and MF + UF are effective approaches for oily wastewater treatment.

      • Relationship between total phenolic contents and biological properties of propolis from 20 different regions in South Korea

        Propolis collected from botanical sources by honey bee, has been used as a popular natural remedies in folk medicine throughout the world. This study was conducted to assess growth inhibitory effects of ethanol extracts of propolis (EEPs) from 20 different regions in South Korea on human intestinal bacteria as well as BACE-1, AChE inhibitory, antioxidant, antiproliferative, and anti-human rhinovirus activities. Correlation coefficient (r) analysis of the biological activities of EEP samples was determined using their 50% inhibition concentration or minimal inhibitory concentration values and their polyphenol or flavonoid contents in 20 Korean EEP samples. Correlation coefficient analysis showed that total polyphenol contents may be negatively correlated with DPPH free radical scavenging activity (r = –0.872) and total flavonoid content has no correlation with the activity (r = 0.071). No direct correlation between BACE-1 inhibition, AChE inhibition, or antiproliferative activity and total polyphenol or total flavonoid content in Korean EEP samples was found.

      • Identification of Prostate Cancer LncRNAs by RNA-Seq

        Purpose: To identify prostate cancer lncRNAs using a pipeline proposed in this study, which is applicable for the identification of lncRNAs that are differentially expressed in prostate cancer tissues but have a negligible potential to encode proteins. Materials and Methods: We used two publicly available RNA-Seq datasets from normal prostate tissue and prostate cancer. Putative lncRNAs were predicted using the biological technology, then specific lncRNAs of prostate cancer were found by differential expression analysis and co-expression network was constructed by the weighted gene co-expression network analysis. Results: A total of 1,080 lncRNA transcripts were obtained in the RNA-Seq datasets. Three genes (PCA3, C20orf166-AS1 and RP11-267A15.1) showed a significant differential expression in the prostate cancer tissues, and were thus identified as prostate cancer specific lncRNAs. Brown and black modules had significant negative and positive correlations with prostate cancer, respectively. Conclusions: The pipeline proposed in this study is useful for the prediction of prostate cancer specific lncRNAs. Three genes (PCA3, C20orf166-AS1, and RP11-267A15.1) were identified to have a significant differential expression in prostate cancer tissues. However, there have been no published studies to demonstrate the specificity of RP11-267A15.1 in prostate cancer tissues. Thus, the results of this study can provide a new theoretic insight into the identification of prostate cancer specific genes.

        중국인 한국어 고급 학습자의 말하기 불안과 구어 숙달도 간의 상관관계 -정확성과 유창성을 중심으로-

        This study aimed to investigate the relationship between speaking anxiety and speaking ability of 66 Chinese advanced Korean learners. To meet the goal of the research, the survey questionnaire for speaking anxiety and two types of spoken production tasks were applied. Speaking proficiency was measured by fluency and accuracy of learners’ spoken production. The results of the study are as followed. (i) all learners felt speaking anxiety, but level 5 learners had stronger speaking anxiety than level 6 learners. (ii) level 6 leaners spoke more fluently and accurately than level 5 learners. (iii) level 6 learners’ speaking anxiety showed no correlation with fluency, but showed a negative correlation with accuracy. For level 5 learners, both fluency and accuracy had negative correlation with speaking anxiety.

        Edaphovirga cremea gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from the rhizospheric soil of Codonopsis clematidea

        A Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, nonspore- forming, coccoid or rod-shaped and creamy-pigmented bacterium, designated SYP-B2100T, was isolated from the rhizospheric soil of Codonopsis clematidea in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The optimal growth occurred at 28°C, pH 5.0, in the absence of NaCl. The cells tested positive in catalase and methyl red tests but negative in oxidase, urease, gelatinase, milk coagulation, and peptonisation, H2S production, nitrate reduction, and Voges-Proskauer tests. The major isoprenoid quinone was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8). The major cellular fatty acids were C16:0 and summed feature 8. The polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and phosphatidylglycerol. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain SYP-B2100T was the most similar to that of Rahnella inusitata DSM 30078T (96.9%) within the family Enterobacteriaceae. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain SYP-B2100T was 50.3 mol%. The combined data from the phylogenetic, morphological, physiological, biochemical, and chemotaxonomic analyses presented in this study support the conclusion that strain SYP-B2100T represents a novel species of a new genus, for which the name Edaphovirga cremea gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed; the type strain is SYPB2100T (= CGMCC 1.5857T = DSM 105170T = KCTC 62024T).
