Ameliorative effects of atractylodin on intestinal inflammation and co-occurring dysmotility in both constipation and diarrhea prominent rats

        Changchun Yu,Yuan Lin,Yong-jian Xiong,Da-peng Chen,Yanli Li,Bin Xu,Zeyao Tang,Chunling Jiang,Li Wang 대한약리학회 2017 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.21 No.1

Intestinal disorders often co-occur with inflammation and dysmotility. However, drugs which simultaneously improve intestinal inflammation and cooccurring dysmotility are rarely reported. Atractylodin, a widely used herbal medicine, is used to treat digestive disorders. The present study was designed to characterize the effects of atractylodin on amelioration of both jejunal inflammation and the co-occurring dysmotility in both constipation-prominent (CP) and diarrheaprominent (DP) rats. The results indicated that atractylodin reduced proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in the plasma and inhibited the expression of inflammatory mediators iNOS and NF-kappa B in jejunal segments in both CP and DP rats. The results indicated that atractylodin exerted stimulatory effects and inhibitory effects on the contractility of jejunal segments isolated from CP and DP rats respectively, showing a contractile-state-dependent regulation. Atractylodininduced contractile-state-dependent regulation was also observed by using rat jejunal segments in low and high contractile states respectively (5 pairs of low/ high contractile states). Atractylodin up-regulated the decreased phosphorylation of 20 kDa myosin light chain, protein contents of myosin light chain kinase (MLCK), and MLCK mRNA expression in jejunal segments of CP rats and down-regulated those increased parameters in DP rats. Taken together, atractylodin alleviated rat jejunal inflammation and exerted contractile-state-dependent regulation on the contractility of jejunal segments isolated from CP and DP rats respectively, suggesting the potential clinical implication for ameliorating intestinal inflammation and co-occurring dysmotility.

Investigation of nano-sized ZnO particles fabricated by various synthesis routes

        Changchun Chen,Benhai Yu,Ping Liu,JiangFeng Liu,Lin Wang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2011 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.12 No.4

Nano-sized ZnO particles were synthesized by a direct precipitation, a sol-gel, and a hydrothermal method. The structures, morphology, and optical properties of these ZnO nanoparticles fabricated by the above-mentioned methods were also characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis). In addition, the photocatalytic activities of the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were evaluated via the degradation of methyl orange (MO) in an aqueous solution. These experimental results demonstrated that the photodegradation efficiency of MO solutions irradiated by UV for 120 minutes with ZnO nano-particles used as catalysts, which were fabricated by a direct precipitation method could reach 94.59% or so. The higher photocatalytic activity of methyl orange solutions by the ZnO nanoparticles synthesized by the direct precipitation method is probably ascribed to the spherical ZnO nanoparticles with a smaller crystalline size.

Structural and optical characterization of Ru2Si3 layers on Si formed by a two-step channeled ion implantation

ChangChun Chen,BenHai Yu,JiangFeng Liu 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2009 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.10 No.5

Structural and optical properties have been investigated for Ru2Si3 layers on Si (100) formed by two-step channeled ion implantations (70 keV, 6.92 × 1016/㎠ and 40 keV, 4.31 × 1016/㎠) and subsequent annealing at 1150℃ for 120 second. Rutherford backscattering/ ion channeling (RBS/C) analyses have revealed that the Ru2Si3 layers were grown on the Si substrate but with a rather poor crystalline quality. The optical spectra have been obtained by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) and optical absorption measurements. From the optical investigations, the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric function as well as the absorption coefficient have been derived. The spectra of Ru2Si3 layers exhibit a semi-conducting character with an allowed direct band gap of 0.843 eV. Studies of the Thin Oxide of Epitaxial SiGe/Si Film by High Resolution Grazing Angle Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry and Channeling

        ChangChun Chen,Jiangfeng Liu,BenHai Yu,DeZhang Zhu 대한금속재료학회(구 대한금속학회) 2007 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.3 No.2

Grazing angle Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry/Channeling(RBS/C) with an improved depth resolution (2-3nm) in combination with X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) was used to investigate the thin oxide of Si(1-x)Ge(x) (x=0, 0.2 and 0.3) films oxidized at elevated temperatures in a dry chlorinated ambient atmosphere (O2/Cl). Experimental results showed that after oxidation, only SiO2 was formed while Ge was completely rejected from the oxide to form Ge-rich layers. The effect of the oxidation enhancement of the SiGe alloy with an increase in the Ge content was also found in this study. The strain of the unoxidized SiGe layer underneath the oxide layer characterized by channeling angular scans indicates that these rejected Ge atoms during oxidation have less influence on the integrity of the SiGe layer due to diffusion of the Ge atoms.

Evaluation of the Genetic Relationship among Ten Chinese Indigenous Pig Breeds with Twenty-six Microsatellite Markers

        Li, Changchun,Wang, Zhigang,Liu, Bang,Yang, Shulin,Zhu, Zhengmao,Fan, Bin,Yu, Mei,Zhao, Shuhong,Li, Kui Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2004 Animal Bioscience Vol.17 No.4

The genetic diversities and relationships of 10 Chinese indigenous pig breeds and three exotic pig breeds have been evaluated using 26 microsatellites recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization & the International Society of Animal Genetics (FAO-ISAG). The allele frequencies, genetic heterozygosity (H) and polymorphism information content (PIC) have been calculated. The results showed that genetic diversity of Chinese indigenous pig breeds is higher than that of the introduced pig breeds. The clustering of 10 breeds is generally consistent with their geographical distribution.

High performance removal of methyl mercaptan on metal modified activated carbon

        Qiang Liu,Ming Ke,Pei Yu,Feng Liu,Haiqiang Hu,Changchun Li 한국화학공학회 2018 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.35 No.1

A series of coconut shell activated carbon catalysts, modified by metal oxides, were prepared by an ultrasound- assisted incipient wetness method for the removal of methyl mercaptan (CH3SH). The catalysts were investigated using XRD, BET, XPS, TEM and TA.The results showed that the catalyst combined with 2wt% Fe loading and iron (Fe) : copper (Cu) (mole ratio) 10 : 3, and calcination at 300 oC had a superior removal efficiency. The high activity could be attributed to the generation of highly dispersed Fe-Cu nanocomposites. The results revealed that calcination temperature not only influenced the chemical states and nanocomposite size of iron and copper, but also affected the pore structures of the catalysts. Compared with Fe/AC, the interaction between the iron and copper oxides resulted in smaller nanoparticles and high dispersion for Fe-Cu/AC. Product analysis results suggested dimethyl disulfide, metal methanesulfonates and methyl thiolates were the oxidation products which adsorbed on the activated carbon.
