        보행자를 위한 권장 경사의 경사로와 계단의 선호도 비교분석

        In recent years, urban regeneration is focused on smart and pedestrian oriented development utilizing various mobility technology. The characteristics of walkways needs to reflect such development orientations. This research is the first step to find an adequate slope for ramp replacing stairs and shared by pedestrians, personal mobilities and powered wheelchairs. It aims to check if ramps on a recommended degree of angle by general guidelines are more preferred than stairs and find out what make difference of such preferences. Two surveys were conducted at 9° and 9.6° ramps coexisted with stairs at sequential and parallel location. The study on the survey result found that the general evaluation of 9° ramp was better than 9.6° ramp but 9° ramp was not preferred than stairs while 9.6° ramps was preferred. The difference of preferences was related to characteristics of stairs. The stair with shorter tread and riser next to 9° ramp was evaluated much better than stairs next to 9.6° ramp. Therefore the research concludes that 10.0° which many guidelines recommend for the maximum slop of a ramp was not adequate for a ramp to replace stairs as a preferred means of vertical circulation. In addition the research found that the preference was sensitive to moving direction and gender especially in regards to comfort of stairs and safety of ramp. Most pedestrians chose a means of vertical circulation based on its comfort but pedestrian’s evaluation of safety was most different based on moving direction.

        Comparison of Physique and Physical Fitness of TAEKWONDO Gyeorugi and WUSHU Santa Athletes

        Purpose: This study compared and analyzed the characteristics of physique and physical fitness factors be-tween the two sports in order to provide useful information for the establishment of effective training plans for Taekwondo Gyeorugi athletes and Wushu Santa athletes. Methods: The subjects of this study consisted of 14 Taekwondo Gyeorugi athletes in D Metropolitan City K University and 14 Wushu Santa athletes from D Team. Physical characteristics(height, weight, body fat percent-age, BMI, lower extremities, thighs) and physical fitness factors(back muscular strength, sit-ups, repetitive jumps, standing long jump, Sargent jump, reaction time to sound/light, side step test, one-foot stand with closed eye, sit and reach, backward flexibility, anaerobic exercise capacity, isokinetic muscle strength of the knee joint) were measured to compare and analyze the differences between the two sports. Results: As a result of the study, the physical characteristics of Taekwondo Gyeorugi athletes were statistically significantly higher than those of Wushu Santa athletes in left and right thigh circumferences. In terms of physical fitness, the Wushu Santa athletes were statistically significantly higher than those of Taekwondo Gyeorugi ath-letes in standing long jump and Sargent jump, which are evaluation items of power. In addition, Taekwondo Gyeorugi athletes were statistically significantly higher than Wushu Santa athletes in the evaluation item of bal-ance. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the measurement result of anaerobic exercise capacity. Wushu Santa athletes were statistically significantly higher values of muscular strength and muscular strength per 1 kg of body weight in left and right extensors, and muscular strength and muscular strength per 1 kg of body weight in left flexors than the Taekwondo Gyeorugi athletes in the measurement result of isokinetic muscle strength of the knee joint. Conclusion: In summarizing the results of this study, Wushu Santa athletes tended to have a higher tendency for most of the physical fitness factors except balance and flexibility compared to Taekwondo competition ath-letes, and in particular, muscular strength of extensors of lower extremity and power were higher. However, when comparative analysis based on the results of previous studies, it is considered that there will be some diffi-culties in generalizing the results of this study to the physical fitness of Taekwondo competition and Wushu Santa event athletes. In addition, it is thought that a follow-up study is needed to consider the competition rules for each sport and the technical characteristics of the players.

        A New Diarylheptanoid Glycoside from the Stem Bark of <i>Alnus hirsuta</i> and Protective Effects of Diarylheptanoid Derivatives in Human HepG2 Cells

        <P>To search for secondary metabolites of <I>Alnus hirsuta</I> (Betulaceae), various chromatographic separations of the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the stem bark of <I>A. hirsuta</I> led to the isolation of a new diarylheptanoid glycoside, (3<I>R</I>)-1,7-bis-(4-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-heptanol 3-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucopyranosyl(1→3)-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-xylopyranoside (13) and twelve diarylheptanoid derivatives, namely, oregonin (1), rubranoside A (2), hirsutanonol 5-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucopyranoside (3), rubranoside B (4), rubranoside C (5), hirsutanonol (6), hirsutenone (7), (5<I>S</I>)-<I>O</I>-methylhirsutanonol (8), platyphylloside (9), platyphyllonol 5-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-xylopyranoside (10), aceroside VII (11) and platyphyllenone (12). Isolates were assessed for their hepatoprotective effects against <I>tert</I>-butylhydroperoxide (<I>t</I>-BHP)-induced toxicity in HepG2 cells. Of these isolates, compounds 1—8 showed significant hepatoprotective effects on <I>t</I>-BHP-induced damage to HepG2 cells, with 8 exhibiting the greatest protective effect (50.7±3.7% at a concentration of 10 μ<SMALL>M</SMALL>).</P>

        A New Chromone, 11-Hydroxy-<i>sec</i>-<i>O</i>-glucosylhamaudol from <i>Ostericum koreanum</i>

        <P>From the ethyl acetate fraction of the roots of <I>Ostericum koreanum</I>, a new chromone, 11-hydroxy-<I>sec</I>-<I>O</I>-glucosylhamaudol (1) along with the known compounds: four chromones, three coumarins, six phenolic compounds, and three quinic acids were isolated. These compounds were assessed for antioxidant activities in the DPPH radical and superoxide anion radical scavenging assay systems. Among isolates, 4-(2-hydroxy-vinyl)-benzene-1,2-diol (12) showed the most potent DPPH radical scavenging activity (IC<SUB>50</SUB>=4.80±0.62 μg/ml) and superoxide anion radical scavenging activity (IC<SUB>50</SUB>=11.05±0.83 μg/ml) in the xanthine/xanthine oxidase system. The antioxidant activities of 12 were comparable to those of quercetin and luteolin.</P>

      • Graphene Edges and Beyond: Temperature-Driven Structures and Electromagnetic Properties

        <P>The atomic configuration of graphene edges significantly influences the various properties of graphene nanostructures, and realistic device fabrication requires precise engineering of graphene edges. However, the imaging and analysis of the intrinsic nature of graphene edges can be illusive due to contamination problems and measurement-induced structural changes to graphene edges. In this issue of <I>ACS Nano</I>, He <I>et al.</I> report an <I>in situ</I> heating experiment in aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy to elucidate the temperature dependence of graphene edge termination at the atomic scale. They revealed that graphene edges predominantly have zigzag terminations below 400 °C, while above 600 °C, the edges are dominated by armchair and reconstructed zigzag edges. This report brings us one step closer to the true nature of graphene edges.         Estimating the Validity of CPTED Guidelines on Residence Hall in University

        University residence halls have become one of the most important issues for students when selecting their academic institutions. However, in South Korea, while universities maintain technologically up-to-date facilities, when it comes to safety or security, the management is unsatisfactory. As a result, the number of violent crime has been increasing. However, there are few researches in terms of practical validity of CPTED Guidelines even though a myriad of researchers study about CPTED Guidelines. Therefore, this study endeavours to investigate the validity of theoretical CPTED Guidelines that to what extent it might be adopted for design process. As a methodology, Space Syntax Convex map and Visibility Graph Analysis (VGA) are chosen. As a result, since the types of space which have a high level of Space Syntax Index are analogous with space treated on CPTED Guidelines, it roughly shows that the theoretical CPTED Guidelines could be adopted in practical architectural design process. Furthermore, it reveals that there is a close relationship between detail design guide stated in CPTED Guidelines and the result of VGA. That is, through the analysis, it is proved that the validity of CPTED Guidelines is quite enough to be adopted in practical design process.
