In this paper, Analysis of Progressive Failure of Type 4 Atypical Conformal Hydrogen Storage Vessel based on the Puck Theory was performed. To this end, first, finite element modeling was performed on a 70 MPa atypical conformal hydrogen pressure vessel having a Type 4 shape, and stacking design was performed using ABAQUS to consider the stacking method. In addition, a boundary condition was applied to the part where the boss was joined, and a load was applied until the atypical hydrogen pressure vessel ruptured. Through this, structural safety evaluation was performed, and the location of the initial failure was derived based on the failure criterion Puck theory. In addition, the failure tendency was analyzed by performing a gradual failure analysis in which the damage increases afterwards.

In this paper, a multi-scale probabilistic analysis and prediction of the physical properties of a woven carbon composite material using a homogenization technique and Monte Carlo simulation were performed. To this end, first, a homogenization analysis at the micro level was performed to evaluate the effective properties of the fiber/epoxy bonded tow. To verify this, the mixing law theory and the homogenization analysis result were compared, and the reliability of the homogenization analysis result was verified by comparing the tensile test result with the homogenization analysis result. In addition, in order to consider the uncertainty of mechanical properties, a probabilistic analysis was performed using a Monte Carlo simulation based on the homogenization technique. Finally, the effective property values derived from the micro level homogenization analysis were applied to the macro level homogenization analysis in which Tow/Epoxy was combined to obtain effective properties for the Carbon/Epoxy composite material and their correlation was analyzed.
