Evidence of Liquid-Liquid Demixing During Bi-Soft Segment Polyurethane Prepolymerization
Christian Wenning,Jens Noe,Stéphan Barbe,Marc C. Leimenstoll 한국고분자학회 2018 Macromolecular Research Vol.26 No.5
Bi-soft segment isocyanate-terminated polyurethanes (ITPUs) currently play a major role in the industrial production of high performance polyurethanes (adhesives, coating, foams, thermoplastics, nanoparticles, dispersion). The present contribution reports on the investigation of liquid-liquid demixing phenomena during the synthesis of bi-soft segment ITPUs. For this purpose, a dedicated experimental setup based on coupled in-line reaction monitoring via UV/Vis and FTIR technique was developed. It was used to monitor phase separation and reaction progress in the course of a prepolymerization using 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and a polyether polyol mixture. Such phenomena may have a great impact on reaction kinetics and product quality. Furthermore, in-line FTIR analysis appeared to be sensitive to phase separation processes in the way that it predominantly detects the continuous phase rather than the dispersed droplets.

<P>A novel porphyrin tripod (TPZn3) was synthesized via “click chemistry”. Three porphyrin moieties of TPZn3 are geometrically close and linked by a flexible linker. The electron-transfer oxidation of TPZn3 results in intramolecular π-dimer formation between porphyrin moieties as indicated by electrochemical, vis−NIR, and ESR measurements. The cyclic voltammogram of TPZn3 exhibited stepwise one-electron oxidation processes of three porphyrin moieties in the range from 0.58 to 0.73 V (vs SCE in CH2Cl2). When TPZn3 was oxidized by tris(2,2′-bipyridyl)-ruthenium(III) ([Ru(bpy)3]3+), the oxidized species (TPZn3)<I>n</I>+ (0 < <I>n</I> ≤ 3) exhibited a charge resonance band in the NIR region due to the π-dimer formation between porphyrin moieties. A supramolecular electron donor−acceptor system was also constructed using TPZn3. The flexible conformation of TPZn3 makes it possible to capture a fullerene derivative containing a pyridine moiety (PyC60) inside the cavity by π−π interactions as well as the coordination bond between Zn2+ and the pyridine moiety. The formation of a 1:1 supramolecular complex of TPZn3 with PyC60 (TPZn3−PyC60) was indicated in the UV−vis and 1H NMR spectra in nonpolar solvents. The association constant of TPZn3 with PyC60 (1.1 × 105 M−1 in toluene) is much larger as compared with those of the corresponding monomer (MPZn) and dimer porphyrin (DPZn2). The dynamics of photoinduced electron transfer from the singlet excited state of TPZn3 to PyC60 was examined by laser flash photolysis measurements. The efficient intracomplex photoinduced electron transfer in TPZn3−PyC60 occurred in nonpolar solvents, resulting from the π−π interactions between the porphyrin and fullerene moieties, together with intramolecular π-bond formation between the porphyrin radical cation and the neutral porphyrin in TPZn3•+.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jacsat/2010/jacsat.2010.132.issue-12/ja100192x/production/images/medium/ja-2010-00192x_0019.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/ja100192x'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A systematic study of a capacitorless 1T-DRAM fabricated in 28nm FDSOI technology is presented. The operation mechanism is based on band modulation. The Z2-FET memory cell features a large current sense margin and small OFF-state current at 25°C and 85°C. Moreover, low power consumption during state ‘1’ writing is achieved with ~0.5V programming voltage. These specifications make the Z2-FET an outstanding candidate for low-power eDRAM applications.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Novel zinc porphyrin tweezers in which two zinc porphyrins were connected with pi-conjugated boron dipyrromethenes (BDP meso-Por(2) and BDP beta-Por(2)) through triazole rings were synthesized to investigate the photoinduced energy transfer and electron transfer. The UV-vis spectrum of BDP beta-Por(2) which has less bulky substituents than BDP meso-Por(2) exhibits splitting of the Soret band as a result of the interaction between porphyrins of BDP beta-Por(2) in the excited state. Such interaction between porphyrins of both BDP beta-Por(2) and BDP meso-Por(2) is dominant at room temperature, while the coordination of the nitrogen atoms of the triazole rings to the zinc ions of the porphyrins occurs at low temperature. The conformational change of the BDP-porphyrin composites was confirmed by the changes in UV-vis and fluorescence spectra depending on temperature. Photodynamics of BDP meso-Por2 and BDP beta-Por(2) has also been investigated by laser flash photolysis. Efficient singlet-singlet energy transfer from the ZnP to the pi-conjugated BDP moiety of both BDP meso-Por2 and BDP beta-Por(2) occurred in opposite direction as compared to energy transfer from conventional BDP to ZnP due to the pi-conjugation in nonpolar toluene. In polar benzonitrile, however, additional electron transfer occurred along with energy transfer.</P>

<P>The Z(2)-FET operation as capacitorless DRAM is analyzed using advanced 2-D TCAD simulations for IoT applications. The simulated architecture is built based on actual 28-nm fully depleted silicon-on-insulator devices. It is found that the triggering mechanism is dominated by the front-gate bias and the carrier's diffusion length. As in other FB-DRAMs, the memory window is defined by the ON voltage shift with the stored body charge. However, the Z(2)-FET's memory state is not exclusively defined by the inner charge but also by the reading conditions.</P>

<P>2-D numerical simulations are used to demonstrate the <TEX>${Z}^{\textsf {2}}$</TEX>-FET as a competitive embedded capacitor-less dynamic random access memory cell for low-power applications. Experimental results in 28-nm fully depleted-silicon on insulator technology are used to validate the simulations prior to downscaling tests. Default scaling, without any structure optimization, and enhanced scaling scenarios are considered before comparing the bit cell area consumption and integration density with other eDRAM cells in the literature.</P>

Agarwal Ashok,Selvam Manesh Kumar Panner,Baskaran Saradha,Finelli Renata,Leisegang Kristian,Barbăroșie Cătălina,Pushparaj Peter Natesan,Robert Kathy Amy,Ambar Rafael F.,Iovine Concetta,Durairajanayaga 대한남성과학회 2021 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.39 No.4
Purpose: The objective of this scientometric analysis was to recognize the top 100 cited articles on ‘Male infertility and Antioxidants’ and analyze its publication characteristics. Materials and Methods: The Scopus database was used to retrieve related articles and the top 100 identified based on citation rate. Results: The articles were published in 56 journals between 1995 and 2019 with a median (interquartile range) citation score of 17 (5–62). Among the top 100 articles, 69 were clinical studies, which included controlled and blinded (33.33%), prospective (27.54%), randomized-controlled trials (26.09%), uncontrolled (11.59%), and retrospective (1.45%) studies. In addition to conventional semen parameters, advanced sperm function tests such as oxidative stress (51%) and sperm DNA damage (23%) were reported. Pregnancy rate (33%) was found to be the most reported reproductive outcome. Antioxidant therapy was mostly investigated in male cohorts with sperm abnormalities such as asthenozoospermia (28%) and clinical conditions such as idiopathic male infertility (20%), varicocele/varicocelectomy (17%) and general male infertility (16%). Conclusions: The most influential publications on antioxidants and male infertility were identified for the first time in the literature. This will serve as a reliable source of information for researchers and clinicians alike.

Purpose To compare the 18F-NaF PET/CT studies (18F-NaF) with other imaging methods in the detection of skeletal metastases (SM) in patients with medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). Methods We retrospectively analyzed 31 patients with MTC who performed 18F-NaF to assess SM. The results of the 18F-NaF were compared with other imaging methods performed for metastasis detection: 99Tc-MDP bone scan (BS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), contrast-enhanced CT (CT), and 68Ga-Dotatate and 18F-FDG PET/CT studies. A qualitative analysis comparing the 18F-NaF findings with the ones of the other methods was performed, and the results were classified as superior (>), equal (=), and inferior (<). Results Eleven patients had no bone metastases detected on any of the imaging methods used. Twenty patients presented SM depicted on 18F-NaF. Of these 20 patients, 12 performed bone scan (in 9 18F-NaF > BS and in 3 18F-NaF = BS), 1 performed 18F-FDG (18F-NaF > 18F-FDG), 4 performed 68Ga-Dotatate (in 2 18F-NaF > 68Ga-Dotatate and in 2 18F-NaF = 68Ga-Dotatate), 20 performed CT of at least one body segment (in 15 18F-NaF = CT and in 5 18F-NaF > CT), and 16 performed MRI of at least one body segment, and in all of them, the 18F-NaF was equal to the MRI. Beside this, the 18F-NaF detected SMin body segments not routinely scanned in MRI and CT. Conclusion In patients with MTC, the 18F-NaF seems to be equal or superior to other imaging modalities in the detection of SM and allows the analysis of the whole skeletal in a single study.
