AUTOMATIC NEURAL NETWORK SYSTEM FOR VORTICITY OF SQUARE CYLINDERS WITH DIFFERENT CORNER RADII

Y.El-Bakry, Mostafa.,El-Harby, A.A.,Behery, G.M. Korean Society of Computational and Applied Mathem 2008 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.26 No.5

The neural networks (NNs) simulation has been designed to simulate and predict the vortex wavelength ${\lambda}_x^*$, lateral vortex spacing ${\lambda}_y^*$, and normalized maximum vorticity at the vortex center near the wake of square cylinders with different corner radii. The system was trained on the available data of the three cases, although this data is very little. Therefore, we designed the system to work in automatic way for finding the best network that has the ability to have the best test and prediction. The proposed system shows an excellent agreement with that of an experimental data in these cases. The technique has been also designed to simulate the other distributions not presented in the training set and predicted them with effective matching.

Ductility of open piled wharves under reversed cyclic loads

        Yokota, Hiroshi,El-Bakry, Hazem M.F. Techno-Press 2001 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.12 No.6

Ductility of open piled wharves under reversed cyclic loads has been investigated. Experimental testing of five wharf models having a scale of about 1:4 was conducted under the application of horizontal reversed cyclic loading. The experiments were designed to focus on the horizontal ultimate load, ductility and failure mode of the considered wharf models. Nonlinear numerical analyses using the finite element method were also performed on numerical models representing the experimentally tested wharves. The results of the experimental tests showed that open piled wharves possessed favourable ductile behaviour and that their load bearing capacity did not depreciate until a ductility factor of 3 to 4 was reached. The numerical analysis showed that the relative rotation that took place at the joints between the steel piles and the R.C. beam was responsible for a considerable portion of the total horizontal deformation of the wharves. Therefore, it was concluded that introducing the joint stiffness in calculating the deformations of open piled wharves was important to achieve reasonable accuracy.

Evaluation of the posterior superior alveolar artery canal by cone-beam computed tomography in a sample of the Egyptian population

Fayek, Marco Malak,Amer, Maha Eshak,Bakry, Ahmed Mohamed Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology 2021 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.51 No.1

Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in detecting the posterior superior alveolar(PSA) artery canal in a sample of the Egyptian population. Materials and Methods: CBCT images of 600 maxillary sinuses of patients were examined for the presence or absence of the PSA artery along the lateral wall of the maxillary sinus, and for the diameter and type of the canal in relation to age and sex. The distances from the canal to the alveolar crest and sinus floor were also measured. Each canal was assessed to determine whether it was bifid. Results: The PSA artery canal could be detected in 92.0% of the sinuses. The mean distance from the inferior border of the PSA artery canal to the sinus floor was 8.2±2.2 mm (range, 3.2-13.6 mm) in males and 7.3±2.1 mm (range, 3.0-13.1 mm) in females. The mean distance from the inferior border of the PSA artery canal to the alveolar crest was 18.2±2.7 mm (range, 11.0-23.9 mm) in males and 17.4±2.3 mm (range, 10.8-23.5 mm) in females. The mean diameter of the PSA artery canal was larger in male subjects. The PSA artery canal was bifid in 8.7% of cases. The most frequently observed location of the PSA artery canal was intraosseous(82.2%). Conclusion: CBCT was confirmed to be a valuable tool for evaluation and localization of the PSA artery before maxillary sinus lift surgery to avoid intraoperative bleeding.

Synthesis, Optimization, and Characterization of Cellulase Enzyme Obtained from Thermotolerant Bacillus subtilis F3: An Insight into Cotton Fabric Polishing Activity

        Fouda Amr,Alshallash Khalid S.,Atta Hossam M.,El Gamal Mamdouh S.,Bakry Mohamed M.,Alawam Abdullah S.,Salem Salem S. 한국미생물·생명공학회 2024 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.34 No.1

The efficacy of 40 bacterial isolates obtained from hot spring water samples to produce cellulase enzymes was investigated. As a result, the strain Bacillus subtilis F3, which was identified using traditional and molecular methods, was selected as the most potent for cellulase production. Optimization was carried out using one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) and BOX-Behnken Design to detect the best conditions for the highest cellulase activity. This was accomplished after an incubation period of 24 h at 45o C and pH 8, with an inoculum size of 1% (v/v), 5 g/l of peptone as nitrogen source, and 7.5 g/l of CMC. Moreover, the best concentration of ammonium sulfate for cellulase enzyme precipitation was 60% followed by purification using a dialysis bag and Sephadex G-100 column chromatography to collect the purified enzyme. The purified cellulase enzyme was characterized by 5.39-fold enrichment, with a specific activity of 54.20 U/mg and a molecular weight of 439 kDa. There were 15 amino acids involved in the purified cellulase, with high concentrations of 160 and 100 mg/l for glycine and proline respectively. The highest stability and activity of the purified cellulase was attained at pH 7 and 50o C in the presence of 150 ppm of CaCl2, NaCl, and ZnO metal ions. Finally, the biopolishing activity of the cellulase enzyme, as indicated by weight loss percentages of the cotton fabric, was dependent on concentration and treatment time. Overall, the thermotolerant B. subtilis F3 strain has the potential to provide highly stable and highly active cellulase enzyme for use in biopolishing of cotton fabrics.

A Meta-Analysis on the Performance of Cystatin C- versus Creatinine-based eGFR Equations in Predicting Vancomycin Clearance

Nor Asyikin Mohd Tahir,Shamin Mohd Saffian,Farida Hanim Islahudin,Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor,Mohd Makmor-Bakry 대한의학회 2020 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.35 No.37

Background: The objective of this study was to compare the performance of cystatin C- and creatinine-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) equations in predicting the clearance of vancomycin. Methods: MEDLINE and Embase databases were searched from inception up to September 2019 to identify all studies that compared the predictive performance of cystatin C- and/or creatinine-based eGFR in predicting the clearance of vancomycin. The prediction errors (PEs) (the value of eGFR equations minus vancomycin clearance) were quantified for each equation and were pooled using a random-effects model. The root mean squared errors were also quantified to provide a metric for imprecision. Results: This meta-analysis included evaluations of seven different cystatin C- and creatinine-based eGFR equations in total from 26 studies and 1,234 patients. The mean PE (MPE) for cystatin C-based eGFR was 4.378 mL min−1 (95% confidence interval [CI], −29.425, 38.181), while the creatinine-based eGFR provided an MPE of 27.617 mL min−1 (95% CI, 8.675, 46.560) in predicting clearance of vancomycin. This indicates the presence of unbiased results in vancomycin clearance prediction by the cystatin C-based eGFR equations. Meanwhile, creatinine-based eGFR equations demonstrated a statistically significant positive bias in vancomycin clearance prediction. Conclusion: Cystatin C-based eGFR equations are better than creatinine-based eGFR equations in predicting the clearance of vancomycin. This suggests that utilising cystatin C-based eGFR equations could result in better accuracy and precision to predict vancomycin pharmacokinetic parameters.

STATISTICAL GAUSSIAN DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION AS A DISTANCE INDICATOR TO STELLAR GROUPS

        Abdel-Rahman, H.I.,Issa, I.A.,Sharaf, M.A.,Nouh, M.I.,Bakry, A.,Osman, A.I.,Saad, A.S.,Kamal, F.Y.,Essam, Essam The Korean Astronomical Society 2009 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.42 No.4

In this paper, statistical distribution functions are developed for distance determination of stellar groups. This method depends on the assumption that absolute magnitudes and apparent magnitudes follow a Gaussian distribution function. Due to the limits of the integrands of the frequency function of apparent and absolute magnitudes, we introduce Case A, B, and C Gaussian distributions. The developed approaches have been implemented to determine distances to some clusters and stellar associations. The comparison with the distances derived by different authors reveals good agreement.

The Impact of Leadership Styles Among UAE Municipalities Employees

Mohammed Hariri Bakri(Mohammed Hariri Bakri ),Abdulla Ali Al Mazrouei(Abdulla Ali Al Mazrouei ),Albert Feisal Ismail(Albert Feisal Ismail ),Mohamad Idham Md Razak(Mohamad Idham Md Razak ),Geraldine De People&Global Business Association 2023 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.28 No.4

Purpose: This research examines the impact of four leadership behavior styles; directive, supportive, participative, and achievement-oriented. These four leadership behavior styles are retrieved from the Path goal theory, which considers the employee motivation determinants by the expectancy theory. Design/methodology/approach: The association between the leadership styles and behaviors suggested by the Path goal theory with employee motivation lacks the role of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, which stands on the thinking that enables the employee to overcome challenges, be decisive, and accept responsibility. This research tests the mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor to fill this gap and contributes significantly to the knowledge of leadership behavior styles. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using structural equations modeling, then uses smart PLS with the data collected from 341 employees from the UAE municipalities to test the constructed hypotheses of this research. Findings: The finding of this research revealed a positive and significant relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial mindset and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between participative style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE and positive and significant relationship between supportive style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE. The mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, there was a mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between directive style and employee motivation. There is no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation, no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between participative style and employee motivation, and no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between supportive style and employee motivation. Research limitations/implications: The employees must be appreciated verbally or in writing for their activities in the municipalities to increase their powers and responsibilities and to provide training and career development opportunities. These are the primary leadership motivational factors that provide employees with psychological and social support rather than economic benefit. It can be stated that psycho-social motivation ties employees more. The findings can assist managers in determining which type of leadership style is most suitable in terms of outcomes, as well as how they can adjust their leadership styles to make them more successful and result-oriented. Originality/value: This research can be the first local empirical research to evaluate the organization's performance relationship between leadership behavior styles and the UAE municipality employees' motivation through an entrepreneurial mindset.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the behavioural intention of the millennials in Malaysia toward the acceptance of Islamic e-wallet usage using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT) via Structural Equation Model. Design/methodology/approach: The data have been collected by the 384 millennials in Malaysia. A person has aged between 25 until 40 years old is considered the millennials group The method that used in this paper is the Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). There will be five independent variables: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating condition, and Shariah-compliant. Shariah-compliant variables have been added to the study because the study investigates the Islamic e-wallet where it is needed the Shariah-compliant elements. Before the data is analysed into measurement, preliminary analysis such as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is conducted as well. Findings: The result showed that the performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI) and Shariah complaint (SC) significantly affect the Islamic e-wallet acceptance among the millennials. In addition, the Shariah complaint has a strong effect on Islamic e-wallet acceptance. In contrast, facilitating condition (FC) showed no effect on Islamic e-wallet acceptance. In this study, all the requirements for model fit were achieved. The four exogenous constructs are performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI) and facilitating condition (FC). The mediating construct is behavioural intention (BI) and the endogenous is user adoption (UA). All exogenous constructs show significant p-value except for effort expectancy (EE). Research limitation/implications: This paper offers important implications specifically for the digital economy as it is currently making its way throughout every aspect in the human life, be it social, religion, financial transaction, entertainment and many more. The impact of digital economy can be traced through the emergence of Fintech. One of the least academically discussed areas is the adoption of Islamic Fintech. This study is considered necessary to explore the prediction of consumer behaviour in Islamic Fintech intention, as part of digital economy. Originality/value: The paper fills the gap perceived within the existing literature of finance technology by showing Islamic financial technology (E-Wallet) intention via model measurement.
