In this paper, we consider the Bayesian multiple comparisons problem for K bivariate exponential populations to make inferences on the relationships among the parameters based on observations. And we suggest the Bayesian procedure based on fractional Bayes factor when noninformative priors are applied for the parameters. Also, we give a numerical examples to illustrate our procedure.

N/A Although early diagnosis of urinary tract infection is important, the radiologic evaluation is still controversial because of the low sensitivity and the lack of cost-effectiveness. This study was carried out to evaluate the clinical utility of high resolution triple head Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT imaging in urinary tract infection. We prospectively performed Tc-99m-DMSA planar and SPECT imaging, ultrasound of kidney (US), intravenous pyelography (IVP) and voiding cystourethrography (VCU) in all 60 adult patients with UTI [26 with first episode of acute pyelonephritis (APN), 22 with recurrent APN, and 12 persistent asymptomatic pyuria] and 25 normal persons. To assess reversibility of the renal cortical defect (RCD), Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT was repeated 1 to 8 months later in those patients with abnormal initial findings. Overall detection rate of Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT imaging was 83% (50/60), but planar, US, IVP and VCU showed abnormal findings in 68%, 28%, 32% and 13%, respectively. 25 out of 27 patients with nonnal or single RCD were all normal in other radioligic studies. Only two patients showed vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) on VCU (grade I) and mild hydronephrosis on IVP. But, high proportion of those with multiple RCD showed abnormal findings on US (17/33), IVP (18/33), and VCU (7/33): 67% in any of these 3 studies. Especially, 3 out 7 patients with VUR showed multiple RCD on Tc-99m- DMSA SPECT without any abnormality on IVP or US. 25 normal persons showed normal findings in all studies except one false positive finding on Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT imaging. Follow-up Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT was done in 28 patients (13 with single RCD, 15 with multiple RCD). All 13 patients with single RCD showed improvement. Those with multiple RCD presented improvement in 4, no change in 10, and aggravation in 1 on follow-up studies. With these results, we conclude: 1) Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT imaging is superior to planar imaging, US, IVP or VCU in detection of renal lesion in urinary tract infection. Tc-99m-DMSA SPECT is useful as a initial diagnostic tool in adult patients with urinary tract infection. 2) The multiple RCD on Tc-99m- DMSA SPECT represent the high probability of irreversible tissue change and need of extensive urological work-up.

The newly developed varieties, Jayoung (violet flesh color) and Hongyoung (red flesh color) that harboring various anthocyanins and flavonoids in flesh colored potato are highly increase their interesting not only for food but also functional characteristics such as anti-inflammatory effects. Up to date, most of the molecular markers developed in potato are linked to disease resistance including late blight and PVY, nematode. A few markers linked to economically important functional materials such as anthocyanin biosynthesis are published. With the low cost and high throughput of NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) technology, numerous molecular markers are highly increased in may crops. Among the molecular markers, SNPs (Single nucleotide Polymorphisms) are most useful markers owing to their large numbers in inter and intra varieties in potato. Here we reported SNPs discovery from transcriptome sequencing data acquired from colored flesh potato cultivars, Jayoung and Hongyoung with white flesh color Atlantic. Total RNA was isolated from shoot in tuber after breaking dormancy about 2cm length. Short read sequence data were obtained form Illumina Hiseq2000 and the raw dat set were trimmed with Q socore over 20. Sequencing data were align to reference genome (Solanum tuberosum v4.03, http://potatogeomics.plantbiolgy.msu.edu). About 70% of sequence read were mapped int to reference genome. 139,050, 140,976 and 146,429 total SNPs were discovered in Hongyoung, Jayoung and Atlantic, respectively. All SNPs are mapped into the psedomolecules in reference genome by chromosome. SNPs are also analyzed with homozygous and heterozygous SNPs and genic and intergenic region. SNPs are compared with Potato Infinium 8K Chip data. SNPs found in candidate genes of anthocyanin biosynthesis were discovered. These SNPs information of flesh colored potato will be further analyzed for the allele mining for anthocyanin syhthesis and control region

An association between nephrotic syndrome and thromboembolic phenomena has been known for many years. Most common sites of venous throm-bosis in nephrotic syndrome are al vein and deep vein of lower extremity. We report a case of minimal change nephrotic syndrome associated with unusual extensive venous thrombosis. A 29-year-old man was transferred to our hospital with severe abdominal pain and ascites. 2 months before admission, he was diagnosed as minimal change nephropathy at another hospital and treated with steroid therapy but he had persistent proteinuria on admission. The ab- dominal ultrasonography and CT scan revealed diffuse thrombosis of left renal vein, splenic vein, su-perior mesenteric vein and portal vein. Deep vein thrombosis of lower extremity was also found but not pulmonary embolism. There was no evidence of other primary hypercoagulable disease. He was treat- ed with intravenous heparin immediately and three days later, abdominal pain disappeared. Prednisolone and cyclophosphamide were administered as well. After 1 month of therapy, proteinuria was resolved. Abdominal CT scan, taken after 2 months of therapy, revealed that diffuse thrombosis were almost re- solved. From this case, diffuse abdominal thrombosis should be included as a diffrential diagnosis in a ne-phrotic patient with abdominal pain.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Three-reactor chemical looping (TRCL) is a hydrogen and electricity production technology with inherent separation of carbon dioxide by use of the iron-based oxygen carrier particles. In this study, an integrated continuous operation test unit (300W<SUB>th</SUB>) using 20wt% Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/ZrO<SUB>2</SUB>as an oxygen carrier was successfully operated over 13h. The average CH<SUB>4</SUB> conversion was 94.15% in a fuel reactor in a moving bed mode. Nearly pure hydrogen (99.95%) was obtained from a steam reactor (SR). The steam conversion to H<SUB>2</SUB> was around 63% of the thermodynamic limit in the SR. The hydrogen containing CO was observed from the SR when the carbon deposited particles were introduced into the SR. During the continuous operation, the oxygen carrier particles maintained its physical and chemical properties with high durability in the TRCL system.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> 300W<SUB>th</SUB> TRCL unit was successfully operated for 13h using oxygen carrier (OC). </LI> <LI> 94% CH<SUB>4</SUB> conversion was achieved in a moving bed operation of the fuel reactor. </LI> <LI> High purity (>99.9%) H<SUB>2</SUB> was generated in the steam reactor (SR) in TRCL operation. </LI> <LI> Carbon-deposited OC generated additional H<SUB>2</SUB>, lowering purity of H<SUB>2</SUB> in the SR. </LI> <LI> The OC showed high durability and maintained its physical and chemical properties. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P>Si1-xGex nanowires (NWs) (0.22 <= x <= 0.78) were synthesized using a vaporliquidsolid procedure with a Au catalyst. We measured the intrinsic physical, chemical, and electrical properties of the oxidized Si1-xGex NWs using several techniques, including transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, and optical pump-THz probe spectroscopy. We suggest two distinct oxidation mechanisms depending on the Ge content in the Si1-xGex NWs: (i) when the Ge content is around 0.22, a Au catalytic effect brings about oxidation in both the axial and lateral directions; and (ii) when the Ge content is greater than 0.22, the Au tip is detached from the NW body and does not act as a catalyst, which is a result of the high degree of Ge-atom participation in the oxidation process. Additionally, we measured the photoconductivity decay time distribution for the Si1-xGex NWs before and after oxidation process; the decay time is significantly shortened in oxidized Si1-xGex NWs (0.22 < x), whereas it is maintained for Si-rich Si1-xGex NWs (x approximate to 0.22) as compared to the as-grown Si1-xGex NWs. It indicates that the number of defect states is generated with the formation of defective Ge oxide at the oxide-shell-layer/Si1-xGex-core-NW interface.</P>
