      • Capacitance Scaling Based Energy Efficient and Tera Hertz Design of Malayalam Unicode Reader on FPGA

        Amanpreet Kaur,Furqan Fazili,Sunny Singh,Vaishali Sharma,Amandeep Singh,Md Hashim Minver 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.8

Malayalam is Kerala's official language, south-western region of India mainly speak this language, and very less research has been done for designing Malayalam Unicode reader. The Unicode range of characters for Malayalam script is 0D00–0D7F. In this work, we are focusing on the script of Malayalam language and its Unicode required for coding in Hardware Descriptive Language. This paper covers the hardware design and implementation of Malayalam Unicode Reader (MUR) for Kairali scripts on Virtex-6 FPGA. This MUR design was tested with the device operating at frequency of 1THz, Capacitance has been varied from 1pF to 25pF with SSTL family (Stub Series Terminated Logic) with an interval of 5pf.

      • RFID in textile and clothing manufacturing: technology and challenges

        Rajkishore Nayak,Amanpreet Singh,Rajiv Padhye,Lijing Wang 한국의류학회 2015 Fashion and Textiles Vol.2 No.1

In the field of textile and clothing, radio frequency identification (RFID), which is one of the most promising technological innovations, is used in manufacturing, inventory control, warehousing, distribution, logistics, automatic object tracking and supply chain management. Various retailers and manufacturers (of clothing as well as consumer goods) such as CVS, Tesco, Prada, Benetten, Wal-mart and Procter & Gamble, are now implementing the technology and exploring the impact of the technology on their business. RFID technologies may improve the potential benefits of supply chain management through reduction of inventory losses, increase of the efficiency and speed of processes and improvement of information accuracy. The basic of success lies in understanding the technology and other features to minimize the potential problems. Although the technology existed for several years, the technological challenges and cost issues are the major hurdles for the widespread use of RFID. In this paper, the authors have addressed the technology of RFID and various applications related to inventory management, production control, retail management, brand segregation etc. in textile and clothing industry. In addition, the disadvantages, challenges and future directions of RFID technology have also been highlighted.

A facile route to ionic liquids-functionalized ZnO nanorods for the fluorometric sensing of thiabendazole drug

Kaur, Narinder,Raj, Pushap,Singh, Amanpreet,Singh, Narinder,Kim, Deuk Young Elsevier 2018 Journal of molecular liquids Vol.261 No.-

<P>In this report, we introduce a simple and cost-effective hydrothermal method for the functionalization of ZnO nanorods with three different ionic liquids (ILs (1-3)) to check their sensing response with various drugs including thiabendazole, phenylbutazone, chloramphenicol, neomycin, and theophylline through fluorescence spectroscopy. The rod like-microstructure and hexagonal wurtzite structure of synthesized ZnO nanorods were examined with SEM-EDS and XRD techniques. On the other hand, ionic liquids-functionalized ZnO nanorods (ILs (1-3)/ZnO) exhibited various self-organized (layered-sheet similar to IL1, distorted nanorods similar to IL2, peanut beaded surface similar to IL3/ZnO) structures due to the intercalation of ILs on the surface of ZnO nanorods. Compared to ZnO nanorods, similar to ILs (1-3)/ZnO nanorods showed a blue shift in UV-absorption band which resulted to the variation in optical bandgap values. Ionic liquids-functionalized nanorods samples (ILs (1-3)/ZnO) have been selected for their recognition behaviour with available drug molecules using fluorescence spectroscopic technique. Interestingly, with the addition of thiabendazole drug molecules to two samples (ILs (1,3)/ZnO), a significant response corresponding to the peaks at similar to 350 nm and similar to 357 nm was observed, which led to the development of fluorescent sensors with a detection limit of 12 and 304 nM, respectively. • Effect of Natural and Synthetic Antioxidants in a Mouse Model of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

        Shrinivas K. Kulkarni,Amanpreet Singh,Pattipati S. Naidu,Saraswati Gupta 한국식품영양과학회 2002 Journal of medicinal food Vol.5 No.4

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is an illness characterized by persistent and relapsing fa-tigue, often accompanied by numerous symptoms involving various body systems. The eti-ology of CFS remains unclear; however, a number of studies have shown that oxidative stressmay be involved in its pathogenesis. In the present study, a mouse model of CFS was usedin which mice were forced to swim for one 6-minute session on each day for 15 days and theimmobility period was recorded. There was a significant increase in immobility period insaline-treated mice on successive days. Intraperitoneal treatment with the potent antioxidantscarvedilol (5 mg/kg) and melatonin (5 mg/kg) produced a significant reduction in immobil-ity period. Similar results were observed with herbal preparations administered orally: With-ania somnifera (10 mg/kg), quercetin (50 mg/kg), and St. John’ s wort (Hypericum perforatumL., 10 mg/kg). Biochemical analysis revealed that chronic swimming significantly inducedlipid peroxidation and decreased glutathione (GSH) levels in the brains of mice. The rats alsoshowed decreased levels of antioxidant defense enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), andcatalase. Co-administration of antioxidants carvedilol, melatonin, W. somnifera , quercetin orSt. John’ s wort significantly reduced lipid peroxidation and restored the GSH levels decreasedby chronic swimming in mice. Further, the treatment increased levels of SOD in the forebrainand of catalase. The findings strongly suggest that oxidative stress plays a significant role inthe pathophysiology of CFS and that antioxidants could be useful in the treatment of CFS.21

      • Effect of Withania somnifera Root Extract on Haloperidol-Induced Orofacial Dyskinesia: Possible Mechanisms of Action

        Shrinivas K. Kulkarni,Pattipati S. Naidu,Amanpreet Singh 한국식품영양과학회 2003 Journal of medicinal food Vol.6 No.2

We investigated the role of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of haloperidol (HP)-in-duced orofacial dyskinesia and evaluated the beneficial effect of Withania somnifera (Ws)root extract in the amelioration of HP-induced vacuous chewing movements (VCMs) andtongue protrusions in the rat model for TD. Rats were treated for 21 days with intraperitonealHP (1 mg/kg); on day 22, VCMs and tongue protrusions were counted during a 5-minute ob-servation period. HP-treated rats significantly developed these extrapyramidal symptoms, butcoadministration of Ws root extract (10 300 mg/kg) dose-dependent ly reduced them. Bio-chemical analysis revealed that chronic HP treatment significantly increased lipid peroxida-tion and decreased forebrain levels of glutathione and the antioxidant defense enzymes, su-peroxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase. Coadministration of Ws extract significantly reducedthe lipid peroxidation and significantly reversed the decrease in forebrain SOD and catalaselevels but had no significant effect on the HP-induced decrease in forebrain glutathione lev-els. These findings strongly suggest that oxidative stress plays a significant role in HP-in-duced orofacial dyskinesia and that Ws could be effective in preventing neuroleptic-induce dextrapyramidal side effects.107
