      • A New Isolated AC-DC Power Converter Topology with Reduced Number of Switches for High-Input Voltage and High-Output Current Applications

        Obaid Aldosari,Luciano A. Garcia Rodriguez,David Carballo Rojas,Juan Carlos Balda 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

The main objective of this research work is to develop a new low-cost isolated three-level ac-dc power converter topology that is suitable for applications having high input ac voltages and high output currents; for example, hybrid (ac-dc) microgrids or offshore wind farms. Existing three-level converter topologies convert ac power to dc power while maintaining requirements set by international standards for power conversion. These types of converters have significant conduction losses due to high currents in the low-voltage side and high costs, particularly when using several devices in series or in parallel to achieve high-voltage and high-power levels. The proposed topology replaces the conventional three-level converters in the low-voltage side by only two controlled devices and four diodes while still maintaining the basic functionality of a three-level converter. Simulation results for a 87.5-kW case study and experimental results on a 250-W scale-down prototype demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed ideas.

The Special Tribunal of Lebanon: With Reference to Absentia Judgments Models

Ali Aldosari (사) 이준국제법연구원 2022 Journal of East Asia and International Law Vol.15 No.1

The present research examines the fairness of the liability of ‘total’ in absentia trials within three specific circumstances. First: the accused is given sufficient notice of the trial and their right to decline to be present. Second: the accused must have a defence counsel advocating them in the trial. Third: the accused’s absolute right to re-trial should be protected once the judgment has been passed in absentia. The main research question to discern the hypothesis is that the accused can be tried in absentia under international criminal tribunals. Therefore, the focus is on answering which procedural scenarios could be counted as “an absence of the defendant.” The present research questions will be analyzed by examining the practice of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), its theoretical safeguards enshrined in the Statute, and the legal standards from human rights bodies’ jurisprudence.

Is the combination of domperidone and metoclopramide increasing the risk of developing serotonin syndrome?: a case report

        Abdullah Nasser Aldosari,Abdullah Alzahrani,Mohammed Alghamdi,Abdulaziz Alzahrani,Abdulraheem Alghamdi 대한소아응급의학회 2024 대한소아응급의학회지 Vol.11 No.2

Metoclopramide and domperidone are dopamine antagonists that can cause an acute dystonic reaction. Metoclopramide is a rare but major contributor to serotonin syndrome, particularly when used with other serotonergic agents. Serotonin syndrome is a rare, potentially life-threatening adverse reaction characterized by a triad of altered mental status, autonomic dysfunction, and neuromuscular hyperactivity that typically results from exposure to serotonergic agents. Herein, we report a previously healthy 9-year-old girl who was brought to the emergency department with an alteration in the level of conscious and involuntary repetitive movements after approximately 24 hours of receiving a therapeutic dose of metoclopramide and domperidone. Physical examination showed tachycardia, hyperthermia, and a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 11, as well as mydriasis and hyperreflexia. In addition to resolving the symptoms after administering midazolam and diphenhydramine, the diagnosis of serotonin syndrome was made based on the classical symptoms and signs, which met the Hunter criteria. This case indicates the need for clinical awareness of the life-threatening syndrome and caution with medications having potential interactions with metoclopramide.

Clinical and radiographic features of facial cosmetic materials: A systematic review

        Alsufyani Noura,Aldosary Reem,Alrasheed Rasha,Alsufyani Mohammed 대한영상치의학회 2022 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.52 No.2

Purpose: The aim of this study was to systematically screen the literature for studies reporting cosmetic material in the oral and maxillofacial complex to shed light on the types of cosmetic materials, their radiographic appearance, and possible complications. Materials and Methods: Five electronic databases were reviewed for eligible studies. The general search terms were “cosmetic,” “filler,” “face,” and “radiograph.” Demographics, material types, clinical and radiographic presentation, and complications were recorded. Results: Thirty-one studies with 53 cases met the inclusion criteria. The mean age was 52.6±15.4 years with a 4 : 3 female-to-male ratio. The most common material was calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) (n = 14, 26.4%), found inci- dentally. The materials were generally located within the upper cheek and zygoma (n = 35, 66.0%), radiographically well-defined (n = 44, 83%), and had no effects on the surrounding structures (n = 27, 50.9%). The internal structure was radiopaque (calcification, hyperdensity) for gold wires, CaHa, bone implants, and secondary calcification or ossification. Outdated cosmetic materials or non-conservative techniques were infiltrative, had effects on the surrounding structures, and presented with clinical signs, symptoms, or complications. Conclusion: Conventional radiography, cone-beam computed tomography, and multi-detector computed tomography are useful to differentiate several cosmetic materials. Their magnetic resonance imaging appearance was highly variable. The infrequent inclusion of cosmetic materials in the differential diagnosis implies that medical and dental specialists may be unfamiliar with the radiographic appearance of these materials in the face.

      • The effect of visco-Pasternak foundation on the free vibration behavior of exponentially graded sandwich plates with various boundary conditions

        Fatima Bounouara,Salem Mohammed Aldosari,Abdelbaki Chikh,Abdelhakim Kaci,Abdelmoumen Anis Bousahla,Fouad Bourada,Abdelouahed Tounsi,Kouider Halim Benrahou,Hind Albalawi,AbdeldjebbarTounsi 국제구조공학회 2023 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.46 No.3

In this investigation, an improved integral trigonometric shear deformation theory is employed to examine the vibrational behavior of the functionally graded (FG) sandwich plates resting on visco-Pasternak foundations. The studied structure is modelled with only four unknowns’ variables displacements functions. The simplicity of the developed model being in the reduced number of variables which was made with the help of the use of the indeterminate integral in the formulation. The current kinematic takes into consideration the shear deformation effect and does not require any shear correction factors as used in the first shear deformation theory. The equations of motion are determined from Hamilton’s principle with including the effect of the reaction of the visco-Pasternak’s foundation. A Galerkin technique is proposed to solve the differentials governing equations, which enables one to obtain the semi-analytical solutions of natural frequencies for various clamped and simply supported FG sandwich plates resting on visco-Pasternak foundations. The validity of proposed model is checked with others solutions found in the literature. Parametric studies are performed to illustrate the impact of various parameters as plate dimension, layer thickness ratio, inhomogeneity index, damping coefficient, vibrational mode and elastic foundation on the vibrational behavior of the FG sandwich plates.

Prevalence of considering revision rhinoplasty in Saudi patients and its associated factors

Alsubeeh, Najlaa Abdulrahman,AlSaqr, Mayar Abdulsalam,Alkarzae, Mohammed,Aldosari, Badi Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic and Re 2019 Maxillofacial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Vol.41 No.-

Background: Primary rhinoplasty outcomes may not meet individual expectations. Consequently, reoperation may be advocated to improve results. This study examines the prevalence of individuals considering revision rhinoplasty, while identifying the main cosmetic and functional complaints and factors associated. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study conducted in Saudi Arabia using a self-reported online questionnaire distributed through social media channels. The sample included 1370 participants who were all Saudi nationals over the age of 16 who had undergone primary rhinoplasty at least 1 year prior. Results: The prevalence of individuals considering revision rhinoplasty was 44.7%. The primary reason for considering it was the desire for further esthetic improvement in an already acceptable result (50.16%). The most common cosmetic complaints subjectively reported were poorly defined nasal tip (32.35%). The most prevalent nasal function symptom was nasal obstruction (56.9%). Significant factors associated with considering revision rhinoplasty included the physician not understanding the patient's complaints, short consultation time, low monthly income, inadequate information about the expected results, not using computer imaging to predict outcomes, lack of rapport with the surgeon, and inadequate information about the risks and complications. Conclusions: A thorough understanding of patient concerns and expectations, as well as thoughtful consideration of risk factors, may help surgeons achieve more successful outcomes and potentially reduce the incidence of revision rhinoplasties. Level of evidence: III.

      • Vision-Based Corridor Path Search of a Mobile Robot

        Yeoun-Jae Kim,Joon-Yong Lee,Majed S. Aldosari,Mazin S. Altokhais,Ju-Jang Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2011 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.10

In this paper, We made an algorithm for a mobile robot to determine direction normal to the wall with two cameras in an indoor environment without any direction-notification marks. Furthermore, with this direction determination ability, made a method with which a mobile robot can navigate and search through an indoor corridor path without any predefined map information is made. the direction determination scheme uses Hough transform and horizontal line search. While the path search algorithm uses SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transformation), 3D reconstruction and binary search tree algorithm. In the direction determination stage, the mobile robot detects lines in the image and detects horizontal lines to determine the normal to the wall direction. After the direction determination stage is completed, the robot determines the corridor path range through SIFT, RANSAC algorithm, and 3D reconstruction, and finally navigates through its pathway. The direction determination and navigation stage constitutes the binary search tree algorithm. After searching through all its pathway in the indoor environment, the robot returns to its original position with various corridor position information.
