Nucleus accumbens septi (NAB), one of mesolimbic system, which anatomically related the limbic system. We an attempted to elucidated emotional changes following bilateral NAB lesions in rats. Caudal, rostral and both areas of NAB were lesioned each in separated animal groups. Furthermore, aggressive behavior induced by NAB rats was investigated in comparison with those induced by olfactory bulbectomized rats and raphe nucleus-lesioned rats. 1) At postoperative day 2, locomotor activity were increased in r-NAB rats but not in c-NAB rats. 2) All rats exhibited hyperirritability and muricide including mouse-eating behavior after NAB lesions. 3) Muricide of NAB rats was significantly supressed by L-DOPA, L-5-HTP and antidepressants, muricide of raphe rats was also significantly inhibited by L-DOPA and L-5-HTP, while that in OB rats was not suppressed. These results suggested that the NAB plays an important role in locomotor activity and aggression. The characteristics of aggressive behavior induced by NAB rats resemble to that of raphe-rats.
AEGIS: AN ADVANCED LATTICE PHYSICS CODE FOR LIGHT WATER REACTOR ANALYSES
Yamamoto, Akio,Endo, Tomohiro,Tabuchi, Masato,Sugimura, Naoki,Ushio, Tadashi,Mori, Masaaki,Tatsumi, Masahiro,Ohoka, Yasunori Korean Nuclear Society 2010 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.42 No.5
AEGIS is a lattice physics code incorporating the latest advances in lattice physics computation, innovative calculation models and efficient numerical algorithms and is mainly used for light water reactor analyses. Though the primary objective of the AEGIS code is the preparation of a cross section set for SCOPE2 that is a three-dimensional pin-by-pin core analysis code, the AEGIS code can handle not only a fuel assembly but also multi-assemblies and a whole core geometry in two-dimensional geometry. The present paper summarizes the major calculation models and part of the verification/validation efforts related to the AEGIS code.

Solieriinae is a small subfamily of rove beetles, with only a monospecific extant genus, Solierius Bernhauer, 1921, from South America restricted to the temperate forests of southern Chile and Argentina, and four additional species in the extinct genus Prosolierius Thayer, Newton & Chatzimanolis, 2012. All fossil records reported to date are limited to Prosolierius, and are known from the Cretaceous of Barremian–Cenomanian amber deposits from Lebanon, Spain, and northern Myanmar (Kachin). Here, a remarkable new species of Solieriinae, Prosolierius thayerae sp. nov., from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber is described. The new species is externally similar to Prosolierius tenuicornis Thayer, Newton & Chatzimanolis, 2012, from the same amber deposit in having elongate antennomere 10, but it has shorter antennae, and more importantly has highly modified antennomeres 3 and 4 in both antennae. Notably, these modifications are exceptional in typical staphylinids. Together with the four other fossil species of Prosolierius, the discovery also highlights the hidden paleodiversity of solieriine rove beetles in the mid-Cretaceous. https://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:1EC7EEE5-F413-4C5F-BA45-744EB88B7173

Background: Common regional anesthesia approaches for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) include paravertebral block (PVB) and erector spinae plane block (ESPB). PVB is considered a deep nerve block which is contraindicated in antithrombotic therapy. ESPB is effective when administered as a bolus, as well as continuously. However, the recently proposed intertransverse process block (ITPB) ensures more effective diffusion of the local anesthetic into the paravertebral space.Case: We report cases of three patients who received bolus ITPB (costotransverse foramen block and mid-point transverse process-to-pleura block in one and two cases, respectively) combined with continuous ESPB when a deep nerve block could not be administered. Opioids were not required postoperatively, and all postoperative numerical rating scale scores (0–10) at rest were maintained below 4.Conclusions: The combination of bolus ITPB and continuous ESPB may be an alternative analgesic method when deep nerve blocks are contraindicated in VATS.
Method for solving origami tessellation hole problem using triangle twist folding
Yamamoto Yohei,Nakazato Riku,Mitani Jun 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.1
Origami tessellations are geometric pieces folded from a single sheet of paper with flatly overlapped facets. Most existing origami tessellations are constructed by first marking a grid of crease lines on the paper and then arranging repeating patterns along the grid. However, this design method is limited because it cannot design origami tessellations with patterns that cannot be represented on a grid, such as a regular pentagon. This paper proposes a new construction method for origami tessellations that solves this problem and enriches these varieties. In the proposed method, a boundary of an origami tessellation is determined first, and then patterns called triangle twist fold patterns are placed inside the boundary. A similar approach is known as a hole problem, although in this paper, the problem is redefined and discussed in a form suitable for origami tessellations. As a result, a grid-independent construction method was proposed, and new origami tessellations were obtained by using software that implements the method.
The Effect of Light on the Production of Reserpine in Cultured Rauwolfia serpentina Cells
Yamamoto, Osamu The Korean Society of Pharmacognosy 1996 Natural Product Sciences Vol.2 No.2
When reserpine-producing cell strains of Rauwolfia serpentina were transferred from the dark to the light irradiation, the production of reserpine was extremely enhanced whereas the cell growth was suppressed. In an incubation period of 20 days, the most effective culture condition for reserpine production was the combination of 8 days of dark culture and following 12 days of light culture. The time courses of both cell growth and reserpine production were measured in vitro in order to clarify the effect of wave length range of light on the biosynthesis of reserpine. Although the growth of cultured cells which had been incubated under continuous red, yellow, and green lights, respectively, was similar to that of the cultured cells subcultured in the dark. The cells cultured under red light irradiation produced less reserpine than dark-grown cultures. Both blue and near-ultraviolet light inhibited the growth of cultured cells. The production of reserpine was strikingly enhanced by blue light, but was strongly inhibited by near-ultraviolet light.
