To find out the suppressive effect of natural extract Curcuma xanthorrhiza on $IL-1{\beta}$ and MMP-2 derived from periodontal ligament cells through in vitro study and to confirm its effect on plaque and gingivitis through clinical study, Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste was used and following results were produced. 1. In vitro study, type IV collagenase MMP-2 production was inhibited dose-dependently in the group treated with Curcuma xanthorrhiza compared to the control group. 2. In vitro study, the production of $IL-l{\beta}$ which is one of the inflammatory mediators associated with periodontitis was inhibited dose-dependently in the group treated with Curcuma xanthorrhiza. 3. On the third week, the plaque index of the groups treated with or without Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpastes were both increased significantly compared to the baseline(p<0.05). 4. On the third week, the gingival index of the group treated with Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste was not significantly different from baseline. However, the group treated without Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste showed a significant increase of gingival index at shielded area(p<0.05). 5. The gingival index of the group without Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste showed a significant increase in the sites without tooth brushing when compared to sites with tooth brushing(p<0.05). However. there was no significant difference for the group with Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste in sites either with or without tooth brushing. 6. The Bleeding on probing for the group without Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste showed no significant difference even when tooth brushing was done. However, for the group with Curcuma xanthorrhiza containing toothpaste, bleeding on probing was significantly reduced compared to baseline when tooth brushing was done(p<0.05).

양이온 폴리머와 음이온/양쪽성 계면활성제로 형성된 코아세르베이트 건조 필름 특성이 샴푸 건조 후 사용감에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 건조된 코아세르베이트 필름의 물리적 특성이 샴푸 건조 후 모발 사용감에 미치는 상관관계를 조사하기 위하여 실시하였다. 단순 샴푸 조성물은 동일한 조성의 계면활성제에 양이온 전하 밀도가 서로 다른 두 종류의 양이온 폴리머를 사용하여 제조하였다. 이 단순 조성물을 물에 희석하여 코아세르베이트(Coacervate)를 형성되도록 하였고, 3000 rpm, 30 min 조건으로 원심 분리하여 형성된 코아세르베이트를 얻었다. 얻어진 코아세르베이트를 유리판 위에 균일한 두께로 도포하고 50 ℃ 건조기에서 1 h 건조하여 코아세르베이트 필름을 얻었다. 이렇게 얻어진 코아세르베이트 필름의 접촉각과 코아세르베이트의 SEM 이미지 조사를 수행하였고, 코아세르베이트의 수분 보유량과 수분 유지력을 동시에 조사하였다. 샴푸 후 건조된 모발의 부드러움과 보습감은 모발타래를 이용하여 전문 미용 패널이 평가를 수행하였다. 본 실험결과 건조된 코아세르베이트 필름의 특성이 샴푸 후 건조된 모발의 부드러움 및 보습감에 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between physical properties of dried coacervate films and dry feel for shampoo composition. Simple shampoo compositions were made of two different cationic charge density polymers in the same surfactant compositions. The simple shampoo compositions were diluted with distilled water to make coacervate. Formed coacervate was collected by centrifuge (3,000 rpm, 30 min). Coacervate was coated on the glass plates and dried in drying oven (for 1 h, 50 ℃) to make the thin film. We carried out an experiment on measurement of contact angle, moisture loss ratio and SEM image analysis of the dried coacervate film. Dry feelings of the shampoos were evaluated by panel using hair tresses. Results show that the properties of dried coacervate films affect the dry feel of the after shampooing.

1.0 wt% triclosan과 0.4 wt% 죽염을 함유한 바디워시의 액취 등에 미치는 효과에 대한 연구를 위하여 in vitro 항균시험 및 무작위 배정, 이중맹검, 교차설계로 진행한 임상시험을 실시하였다. 1.0 wt% triclosan과 0.4 wt% 죽염을 함유한 바디워시는 Corynebacterium glutamicum, Corynebacterium xerosis, Corynebacterium jeikeium를 균주로 한 in vitro 항균 실험에서 모두 우수한 항균 효과가 있었다. 1.0 wt% triclosan과 0.4 wt% 죽염을 함유한 바디워시는 액취를 전반적으로 유의성 있게 감소시켰고 그 효과는 최소 9 h 동안 지속되었다. 1.0 wt% triclosan과 0.4 wt% 죽염을 함유한 바디워시는 액와 균수를 유의성 있게 감소시켰고 그 효과는 최소 9 h 동안 지속되었다. 임상시험 기간 동안 피시험자 전체에서 이상반응 증상은 나타나지 않았다. 결론적으로 1.0 wt% triclosan과 0.4 wt% 죽염을 함유한 바디워시는 액취에 대한 감소효과와 피부 안전성이 우수하였다. This study was performed to evaluate a deodorant body wash with 1.0 wt% of triclosan and 0.4 wt% of bamboo salt, which have an inhibitory effect on axillary malodor. In this studies, in vitro antibacterial study and the clinical study, which was designed by randomized assignment, double-blind and cross-over, were performed. In the antibacterial study, test sample, which was body wash having 1.0 wt% of triclosan and 0.4 wt% of bamboo salt, have a potent antibacterial effect on Corynebacterium glutamicum, Corynebacterium xerosis, Corynebacterium jeikeium. In the clinical study, test sample has a potent and significant deodorizing effect on axillary malodor and an antibacterial efficacy. And its efficacy was maintained for 9 h at least. There was no side effect during the period of clinical study. Consequently, body wash, containing 1.0 wt% of triclosan and 0.4 wt% of bamboo salt, has the effectiveness and the safety about axillary malodor reduction.
2.6% hydrogen peroxide 부착대(strip)의 치아미백효과에 관한 실용실험연구

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of self-applied 2.6% hydrogen peroxide containing tooth-whitening strips. The safety and efficacy of a 2.6% hydrogen peroxide strip tooth-whitening procedure were evaluated in a double blind experimental design. One hundred young adults were randomly assigned to experimental(55 persons) and placebo control groups(45 persons) by matching on color of teeth, smoking habit, gender and perception level of their teeth color. The subjects of both experimental and placebo groups were treated to a 14-day regimen in which strips were applied to six upper anterior teeth twice per day for 30 minutes under supervision. The efficacy was evaluated by comparing the brightness of tooth surface at baseline, 5 days, 10 days, and 15 days. The brightness of tooth was measured with VITAPAN classical(Vita Zahnfabrik, Germany). Discomfort and hypersensitivity was evaluated by self-administered questionnaire. Eighty-five subjects(43 experimental and 42 placebo) passed through experiments. The experimental group experienced a highly significant improvement in brightness of teeth color relative to baseline and placebo(P<.01). Rate of subjects whose brightness of teeth color enhanced was significantly higher in experimental group(P<.01). Twenty-three percent of experimental group felt tolerable level of gingival irritation. Tooth-whitening strips with 2.6% hydrogen peroxide was effective for improving brightness of tooth color and was more convenient and safe to use than tray-based method.
