N/A We have analysed the records of esophageal manometric examinations performed in 22 patients who came to Seoul National University Hospital complaining epigastric discomfort or pain and showed endoscopic picture typical of reflux esophagitis and obtained following results; 1) Of the total 22 patients, 8 patients (36.4%) showed low LESP (<10mmHg) and 9 patients (40.9%) showed abnormality in espophageal body peristalsis and 8 patients (36.4%) showed no abnormality either in LESP or in esophageal body peristalsis. 2) Of the 9 patients who had abnormal body peristalsis, only one patient had low (<40mmHg) peristaltic pressure and 8 patients had frequent aperistalsis pattern. 3) In patient group with more severe esophagitis, higher percentage of patients showed body peristalsis abnormality. (p <0.05) compared to the less severe group. As can be seen from the above results, low LESP and abnormality in esophageal body peristalsis may have important role in the genesis of reflux esophagitis but whether these factors acted as causative mechanism or has resulted from the esophagitis process and what kinds of other factors participate in the pathogenesis of them is not clear yet and still remain to be clarified.
초거대자기저항(CMR) 현상을 보이는 Spinel Fe₁-xCuxCr₂S₄의 전자구조 연구

Recent discovery of colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) phenomena in perovskite manganese oxides has evoked great interest for its physical peculiarity and the possible industrial application. Besides manganese oxides, CMR phenomena is also observed in Tl₂Mn₂O_7 with pyrochlore structure and in Cr-based chalcogenide with spinel structure. In this paper, we have studied electronic structures of Cr-based chalcogenide spinels Fe_(1-x)Cu_xCr₂S₄ at x=0.0, 0.5, 1.0 using the linearized muffin-tin orbital (LMTO) band method within the local density approximation (LDA). The characteristic resistivity for x=0.0, 0.5 could be explained qualitatively in terms of the half-metalic electronic structure and the Jahn- Teller effect. Especiany, the half-metallic nature appearing in the metallic temperature regime is wen described by the proposed conduction model for x=0.0, 0.5, 1.0. We have suggested, based on the conduction model, that the CMR phenomena observed in these compounds are closely correlated with the obtained half-metallic electronic structure.
실공간 TB - LMTO - recursion 전자구조 방법에 의한 자성연구 : Fe, Co, Ni

In order to study electronic structures for locally disordered systems, we have developed a first-principle self-consistent-spin-polarized real space band method (TB-LMTO-R), which combines the tight-binding(TB) linear-muffintin orbital(LMTO) band method and the recursion(R) method. The TB-LMTO-R method has been applied to ferromagnetic bcc Fe, hcp Co, and fcc Ni. With varying cluster sizes, recursion coefficients, and the order of the TB-Hamiltonian, we have calculated the local density of states(LDOS) and magnetic moments. It is found that the calculation with 5,000 atoms cluster, 40 continued fractions, and the second-order TB-Hamiltonian yields a convergent result in agreement with those from the conventional LMTO. In this way, we have demonstrated a physical transparency of the TB-LMTO-R method as a real space description.
