      • The Effect of Forsythia suspensa Extract on the Wound Healing of Rats

        배진우,김헌준,장조욱,김영욱,조성배,최재구,Bae, Jin-Woo,Kim, Heon-Joon,Chang, Cho-Ook,Kim, Young-Wook,Cho, Seong-Bae,Choi, Jai-Koo The Korean Society of Pharmacology 1995 대한약리학잡지 Vol.31 No.3

We examined the wound healing effect and toxicity of Forsythia suspensa extract to verify the therapeutic usefulness on wound treatment. Additionally, we examined its antibacterial effect. The wound healing effect of Forsythia suspensa extract was compared with the tetrachlorodecaoxygen anion complex (TCDO), protein free haemodialysate (Haemyl), and physiological saline. The wound areas on the 4th, 11th, 14th day of treatment with Forsythia suspensa extract, TCDO, and Haemyl were significantly smaller than with the saline treatment. The wounds on the 8th day of treatment with Forsythia suspensa extract were only siginificantly smaller than the saline treatment. On the 8th day of treatment with Forsythia suspensa extract, TCDO, and Haemyl accerlerlated the wound epithelization more than saline treatment. There was not a significant difference in liver enzyme activity (GOT, GPT) and blood cell count between the Fosythia suspensa extract and the saline treatment. In addition, the Forsythia suspensa extract did not inhibit bacterial proliferation. These results suggest that Forsythia suspensa extract has great possibility of being developed into new wound healing drugs. Its pharmacological effects seem to have no relation with antibacterial effect.

Acrylic splint를 이용한 소아 하악골 골절의 치료

        안덕균,최재구,김준범,김헌준 大韓成形外科學會 1996 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.23 No.1

The childrens' bones are soft, resilient, with a larger cancellous-to-cortical structural ratio. Thicker soft tissue allows the bones bend and resist injury. Therefore, incomplete greenstick fracture is common in children. Interosseous wiring or pin fixation may be difficult because of permanent teeth rooting near the inferior border of the jaw. Acrylic splints are rigid, strong, easily adjusted and repaired, translucent, lightweight and tolerated well by the oral mucosa, and little trauma as possible. This retropective clinical study includes 16 cases of childrens' mandibular fractures was undertaken to access the effects of acrylic splints. This patients, 9 were male and 7 were female. The average age of the patients was 6.8 years and average follow-up period was 7 months. The fractures were caused by traffic accidents(11 cases) and falldown(5 cases). The fracture site was located in parasymphysis(11 cases) and falldown(5 cases). The fracture site was located in parasymphysis(11 cases) and body(5 cases). The splints are properly secured to each tooth and bind all the teeth together as a single unit, which single unit withstands forceful intermaxillary traction. Acrylic splints are helpful in management of mandibular factures in pediatric patients. Authors have used acrylic splints as tools of intermaxillary fixation in 16 patients with mandibular fractures, resulting in healing with acceptable occlusion.

창상치유에 대한 Solcoseryl(Haemyl)및 국소 치료제의 실험적 비교연구

김헌준,최재구,배진우 대한미용성형외과학회 1996 Archives of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Vol.2 No.1

Solcoseryl(Haemyl ) is a chemically and biologically standardized, protein free, non-pyogenic and non-antigenic dialysate from the blood of healthy sucking calves. This study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of Solcoseryl in open wound. Additionaly, we examined the effect of intravenous or intramuscular administration of Solcoseryl compared with topical administration of Tetrachlorodecaoxide(TCDO) and combined therapy of Socoseryl and TCDO. We used eighty rats which were divided into four groups, 1) control group of physiologic saline, 2) intraperitoneal injection group of Solcoseryl, 3) topical administration group of TCDO, 4) combined group of Socoseryl and TCDO. The size of wound contraction was calculated. The specimen from the granulation tissue was stained with Hematoxylene & Eosine stain. The histological findings were compared with control group. The results were obtained as follows; 1. Solcoseryl used by intraperitoneal administration was effective in wound healing. 2. There were significant differences between experimental groups and control group(p<0.05). 3. The combined therapy with Solcoseryl and TCDO did not accelerate the healing process of experimental wounds of rats more than its monotherapy but it was significantly more effective than control group. 4. In microscopic findings on the Solcoseryl group, the authors observed marked growth of the granulation tiuuse, infiltration of the inflammatory cells, development of capillaries and even arrangement of collagen than the control group. We can conclude that the Solcoseryl used by intravenous or intramuscular administration promotes granulation tissue formation, augmented vascularization and enhanced accumulation of collagen, so wound healing process can be shortened.
