      • Solar urticaria in Korean patients

        Background: Solar urticaria (SU) is an uncommon type of photodermatoses characterized by erythematous wheal with pruritus after sunlight exposure, which shows a female predominance. Only a few studies to analyze the clinical features of SU were reported in Asia. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the clinical and photobiological characteristics of SU in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively investigated the medical records of patients with SU who visited the department of dermatology, Konkuk university medical center from January 2005 to January 2020. Results: Of a total of 44 patients, 36 (81.8%) were male and 8 (18.2%) were female. The mean age at onset was 17.6 years (range, 5-47) and the mean threshold time was 19.7 minutes. Among 32 patients who underwent phototesting, the action spectrum most commonly implicated was ultraviolet (UV) A only in 12 (37.5%), and then visible light (415nm) only was responsible for SU in 8 (25.0%). Three patients (9.4%) were induced by both UVA and visible light (415nm). Even 4 patients (12.5%) were triggered by only natural sunlight. Serum immunoglobulin E levels were measured in 33 patients, and 17 (51.5%) showed values higher than normal. The treatment most widely used were oral antihistamine (43.2%), followed by phototherapy (13.6%). Conclusion: SU is a rare photodermatosis in Korea, which shows a male preponderance. In this study, UVA and visible light (415nm) were predominant action spectrum of SU.

        보행 시 노인의 상체 움직임에 대한 3차원적 분석

Korean Journal of Sport Biomechanics, Vol. 14, No. 3, pp. 1-15, 2004. The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematic variables of the upper part of the body for 8 elderly men during walking. For this study, kinematic data were collected using a six-camera (240Hz) Qualisys ProReflex system. The room coordinate system was right-handed and fixed in space, with righted orthogonal segment coordinate systems defined for the head, trunk, and pelvis. Based on a rigid body model, reflective marker triads were attached on the 3 segments. Three-dimensional Cartesian coordinates for each marker were determined at the time of recording using a nonlinear transformation(NLT) technique with ProReflex software (Qualisys, Inc.). Coordinate data were low-pass filtered using a fourth-order Butterworth with cutoff frequency of 6Hz. Three-dimensional angles of the head, trunk, and pelvis segment were determined using a Cardan method. On the basis of each segment angle, angle-angle plot used to estimated the movement coordinations between segments. The conclusions were as follows; (1) During the support phase of walking, the elderly people generally kept their head the flexional and abductional posture. Particularly, the elderly displayed little internal/external rotation. (2) The elderly people showed extensional and external rotation postures in the trunk movement. Particularly, It showed the change from adduction into abduction at the heel contact event of the stance phase. (3) The elderly people showed almost same pelvis movement from the flexion into extension, from the abduction into adduction, and from internal rotation into external rotation at the mid stance and toe off of the stance phase.

      • 비용함수 최대화에 의한 에지추출

        에지추출은 영상인식 시스템에서 매우 중요한 단계이다. 지금까지 많은 에지추출 방법들이 연구되어 왔음에도 불구하고 에지추출 문제는 여전히 어려운 문제로 남아있다. 기존의 기울기 연산자나 표면접합에 의한 에지추출과 달리 본 논문에서는 에지추출을 에지평가 비용함수의 최대화 문제로 다루었다. 에지평가 비용함수는 에지크기,에지연속성,에지굵기 그리고 에지길이를 기준으로 하여 구성하였으며,이와같은 에지평가 비용함수를 최대화 시키는데 유전자 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 그리고 유전자 알고리즘의 탐색성능을 향상시키기 위하여 Crossover연산의 3요소를 중심으로 유전자 알고리즘(MCPC)을 구성하였으며,다른 에지추출 연산자보다 좋은 에지추출 성능을 보여주었다. Eddge detection is the first step and very important step in image analysis. We cast edge detection as a problem in cost maximization. This is acheived by the formulation of a cost function that evaluates the quality of edge conFigurations. The cost function can be used as a basis for comparing the performances of different detectors. We used a Genetic Algorithm for maximizing cost function. Genetic algorithms are a class of adaptive search techniques that have been intensively studied in recent years and have been prome to converge prematurely before the best solution has been found. This paper shows that carefully chosen modifications(three factors of the crossover operator) are implenented can be effective in alleviating this problem.

        사망 진단서(시체 검안서) 작성의 문제점

        Background: This study was conducted to analyze the current problems in completing death certificates and to identify the correct method for completing death certificates Methods: We reviewed 262 death certificates in three hospitals from March 1 to April 30, 2000, and 119 death certificates in one hospital from March 1 to 31, 2000. We identified major and minor errors and analyzed and compared them retrospectively. Results: A total of 381 death certificates were reviewed: 59 in Seoul National University Hospital,101 in Ewha Woman's University Hospital, and 102 in Gachon Medical College Hospital, which has no education program for completing death certificates in postgraduate training, and 119 in Samsung Medical Center which has an education program for completing death certificates. 358 certificates(94.0%) had at least one error. There were only 23 death certificates(6.0%) without an error. In 182 cases(47.8%), there was one major error. In 321 death certificates(84.3%), there were more than two errors. A comparison of Samsung Medical Center with the other hospitals showed that the number of total errors was statistically different(p=0.001). Conclusion: There were few death certificates without an error in this study. In a hospital which has postgraduate training in completing death certificates, there are fewer errors than in other hospitals which have no training course. Emergency physicians actually certify many deaths, so they must know the correct method of completing death certificates for statistics on morbidity and mortality.

        This study was carried out to determine the strength of oxide skins of Al-10Si alloy melts and the effect of Mg addition on the morphology of oxide skins as the practical alloy for automobile piston. This has been observed by Rotational Die Movement Equipment for the temperature range from 600℃ to 720℃, the oxidation time range from 2 min. to 60 min. and the Mg weight percent(wt %) range from 1% to 5%. As the surface temperature and the surface oxide time of alloy melts increased, the crystalization of oxide layer and the creation of oxides were verified.

      • 원격감지 영상의 콘트라스트 향상

        In this paper we discussed the processing procedures of histogram equalization(HE) method and brightness preserving hi-histogram equalization(BBHE) method in the contrast enhancement methods for the performance comparison. With remotely sensed image data of Landsat TM we compared the performances of four methods about Min-Max method, ± 1SD method, HE method, BBHE method. The simulation results demonstrate that the HE method and BBHE method are more effective in the contrast enhancement performances than the Min-Max method and ± 1SD method. In the HE method the mean brightness of the resultant output images approached to the middle gray level with regardless of input image mean. In the BBHE method, it is capable of preserving the mean brightness of a input image compared to the HE method while enhancing the contrast of input image effectively. Thus it is provided more natural enhancement effect than the HE method.

      • 경계 방향 특성을 이용한 변위추정 기법

        In this paper, we propose an efficient block based disparity estimation method which use the disparity vector of spatially adjacent blocks and edge orientation characteristics for the stereoscopic image. The proposed disparity estimation method calculates initial disparity vector at first, and then the final disparity vector is obtained by the full search disparity estimation for small search region. The method can obtain smoothed disparity vector in smooth region and can obtain a small error in the simple edge and texture region. An additional feature of this method is that its computational load decreased for calculating the disparity vector on account of estimating initial disparity vector and searching for smaller region. The simulation results demonstrate that disparity vectors are smoothed and PSNR is close to the one of full search.

      • 영역분류를 이용한 블록화 현상 감소 기법

        본 논문에서는 DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)를 기반으로 정지영상을 압축한 후 복원된 영상의 블록화 현상을 감소시키기 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 블록화 현상 감소기법은 BCT 계수의 특성에 따라 단순영역과 복잡영역으로 분류한 후 분류된 영역에 따라 서로 다른 양자화 테이블을 적용시켰다. 인간시각 특성상 블록화 현상이 잘 나타나는 평탄영역과 단순에지 영역은 저주파 영역의 양자화 요소값을 작게 하여 블록화 현상을 감소시키고, 복잡 영역에서는 블록화 현상이 눈에 잘 나타나지 않기 때문에 양자화 요소값을 증가시켜 비트발생률을 줄일 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 블록화 현상 감소 기법의 타당성은 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 확인하였다. In this paper, we proposed a method of reducing blocking effects in reconstructed image that was compressed on DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). The proposed blocking effects reduction techniques use difference quantization table according to region classification such as simple and complex region. The regions are classified by the characteristics of DCT coefficient. In flat and simple edge region, where blocking effects are more visible, we use small valued quantization table to reduce blocking effects. For complex region, blocking effects are less visible, we use large valued quantization table to reduce generated bit rate. Computer simulation results show that blocking effects of proposed method is reduced that of conventional method.
