The purpose of this study is to find a counterplan to develop the practice, more than over in korea by systematizing contingency model in organizational management. The study on business administration may be devided broadly into two cate-gories, intrinsic principle and practical principle. The latter may be studied with a concern with business environment, but the former may not. korean enterprise has meantime concerntrated its efforts on introducing the advanced managerial methods of the high developed nations including U.S.A and applying them to ours getting out of our traditional method. Nevertheless, there are lots of unfavorable side effects and conflicts between tradition and rationality instead of assimilating the advanced managerial methods fully. The reason is why "What should be" of the rationalization of administration has been stressed without sufficient understanding and valuation for particular conditions of our business. Many studies on business administration have been developed all this while and a new idea called "contingency theory" has appeared recently. The main point of the theory is that "Valid method depends upon the situation." And as almost all the researches in the universal theory of organization so far had no consideration for circumstantial variables, there arose many problems in applying them to the actual cases. The contingency theory of organization was therefore unfolded with the thought that the methods of decision-making, structures of organization and leadership style should depend upon situations. Thus, I think that we can develop the unique organization theory appropriate to our enterprise by applying the contingency theory.

This study's object is to consider the applicable possibility of this theory in our country's enterprises as examining the technique and effect of organizational development. The ultimate object of organizational development is to increase the task attainment of organization and the human achievemant of the constituents through the changes of the organism. To achieve the organizational development successfully, the requisites should be met as follows: 1. The strong necessity of the technique in the organization development should be recognized. 2. The effect of the organizational development's technique should be assured. 3. The ability and technique of the change agent takes an important part. 4. In actual application of the techniques of the organizational development, each technique should be applied differently according to the object and the conditional terms of the organizm. Especially, many problems are raizing as applying the techniques of organizational development that have been developed in western country's enterprises as it was. Thus, in these techniques of organizational development, the applicable strategies and methods should be constructed according to the special conditions of our country. At the same time, the more studies about what the model of organizational development's technique in the best condition is in our country's enterprises should be done.

In this study, some structures of organization suitable according to circumstantial changes will be presented at the angle of contingency theory that the most suitable structure of organization to every circumstances doesn't exist. First, divisional organization is more desirable than functional structure of organization when the organization chooses diversified strategy. In addition this organization acts to the utmost under the circumstances both not very complex and not very dynamic. Second, Adhocracy is a organization suitable for the diversified strategy, strategy for changes, risky stragety and so on. Suitable circumstances to adhocracy should be dynamic and complex. Third, entrepreneural organization is suitable as a organizational type to improve enterprise's originality and innovation by accelerating innovative and creative attitudes of the constituent members and integrating advantages of small-to-medium sized and large enterprises.

The purpose of this thesis is to study how organizational structure changes according to business strategy. Chandler, A.D. carried out the investigating on large-scaled organizations of enterprises in U.S.A. and he drew such a conclusion that "organizational structure comes to follow a strategy". Even Child, J. supports the following by Chandler, A.D However there are not little negative viewpoints about that. It was thought that strategy is one of various variables in deciding on organizational structure. The suggestive point in study of strategy and organizational structure are as follows; First, Defensive strategy has a tendency to take double organizational structure which conducts the pursuit of both safety and flexibility, which conducts the pursuit of both safety and flexibility, which combined the functional structure and the productive structure.
