        This study focusing on prenatal care, places of delivery, attendants at delivery, tools used to cut umbilical cord and registration of birth was conducted on 787 married women aged 20-44 who experienced deliveries during the period of 5 years from 1970 to 1974. The results obtained from the study for two months of May and June in 1975, in Jungneung 3 Dong, Sungbuk Ku, Seoul were abstracted as follow. 1) The percentage of deliveries received prenatal care at medical facilities was 61.9% (57.7% at hospital and 4.2% at midwife's house). 2) The highest percentage of deliveries received prenatal care was seen in 20-24 age group(85.5%), professional workers (84.6%), college graduates in wives (80.7%), college graduates in husbands (75.6%) and upper group by living standard (72.5%). 3) The percentage of deliveries done at medical facilities was 63.4% (61.7% at hospital and 1.7% at midwife's house). 4) The highest percentage of deliveries done at medical facilities was seen in 20-24 age group (88. 1 %), college graduates in wives (86.9%), upper group by living standard (82.4%), professional workers (74.3%) and college graduates in husbands(67.9%). 5) The percentage of deliveries attended by medical personnel was 72.7%(63.0% by physicians and 9.5% by midwives). 6) Of the 288 home deliveries, the percentage of deliveries attended by mother including mother in-law, midwife, and physician was 60.1%, 21.5%, and 3.5% respectively. 7) The highest percentage of deliveries attended by medical personnel was seen in college graduates in wives(91.0%), 20-24 age group (89.6%), upper group by living standard (85.5%), clerical workers (82.2%) and college graduates in husbands (76.3%). 8) In most cases of home deliveries, scissors were used to cut umbilical cord and only 50.2% of scissors were sterilized. 9) Only 42.4% of parents registered the birth of their children before 15 days after birth, 60. 8% within a month and 90.2% within six months. 10) The highest percentage of registration of birth before 15 days was seen -in 25-29 age group (53.1%), professional ;workers (51.3%), administrative workers (46.3%) and high school graduates in wives(44.2%)

      • 蔚山灣 및 流入水系의 重金屬 汚染度 調査

        Since 1962 when Ulsan City was proclaimed as a special industrial area by the cabinet order, industrial production, population, and size of industrial area have increased drastically showing 73.2% of annual industrial production increasement and 9.6% of annual population increasement. Accordingly, amount of waste disposal from industries and homes have increased to bring up socio-medical problems in terms of water pollution in the area, which has not been grasped exactly up to date especially concerning heavy metals. In view of the above reasons, a total of 45 water samples were taken at 18 sampling sites of 4 water system such as Taewha River, Byungyong River, Ulsan Bay and Oewhang River which passed through Ulsan City and of near sea from Ilsan Beach. With those samples, concentrations of Cd, Cr, Mn, Ni, and Pb were measured using an atomic-absorption spectrophotometer (Shimadzu AA-630-11) of which results were summarized as follows. 1. Concentration range of Cd was 1.0-5.5 ppb and the highest concentration was found in the samples from Ulsan Bay and Oewhang River. Range of Cr was 6-24 ppb and the highest data was found in Teawha River. Range of Mn was 13-50 ppb and the highest was found also in Teawha River. Range of Ni was 1-58 ppb and the highest was found in Oewhang River. As for Pb of which concentration was highest among othermetals, the range was 11-129 ppb and the highest was found in Oewhang River. 2. To grasp the general status of water pollution in terms of pollution order in general for the above 5 metals in thearea, semantic order scales were adopted and it was found that Oewhang River was the highest, Ulsan Bay to be the 2nd, Ilsan Near Sea the 3rd, Taewha River the 4th, and Byung Yong River the last. 3. Concerning correlation between each metal concentration by the above 5 water systems, Spearman's rank correlation coefficients of Mn-Cr and Ni-Cd was highest showing 0.9 (p=0.05). The next was found between Pb and Ni to be 0.8 (p=0.10).

      • 貝類 및 浮遊植物을 통한 우리나라 沿岸水의 重金屬 汚染度 基礎調査

        In order to grasp the recent status of sea water pollution with heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni and Zn, measurements of samples with an atomic absorption spectrophometer were performed. Samples of sea water Peninsula such as Ganghwa, Asan, Daecheon, Janghang, Mogpo, Namhae, Samcheonpo, Goeje, masan, Busan, Ulsan, Pohang, Yeongdeog, Uljin, Samcheog, Gangreung, and Sogcho. The summarized results of the study were as follows; 1. Heavy metal concentrations of sea water were variable by area showing 0.56-1.97 of coefficient of variation, and the highest concent of Cd in the Sample from Asan, Cu from Sogcho, Fe from Samcheonpo, Nn from Pohang, Ni from Namhae, Pb from Busan, and Zn from Yeongdeog. 2. Heavy metal concentration of sea-weed were less variable than that of sea water showing 0.48-1.86 of coefficient of variation, and the highest content of Cd in the sample from Daecheon, Cu from Mogpo, Fe and Mn from Samcheonpo and Ni, Zn and Pb from Namhae. 3. Heavy metal concentration of shell fishes were determined for 2 groups, sea mussels and clams. As for sea mussels, coefficient of variation ranged 0.34-2.12 and showed the highest content of Cd in the sample from Busan, Cu, Mn and Zn from Mogpo, fe from daecheon, Ni from Yeongdeog, Pb from Soncho. And as for clams, coefficients of variation were very low except 0.99 of Pb Ulsan, and Cd, Mn and fe from Busan. 4. Ordinal rank of heavy metal pollution by area was made with sementic scores. In general, cities located along the South Coast such as Samcheonpo, Namhae, and Busan were the areas where the status of heavy metal pollution was highest. 5. Correlation coefficients between metals by sample were extreamly low except the one of 0.532(p<0.05) between clam and sea water in general. The coefficient of 0.54(p<0.05) in case of Fe between clam and sea water was highest.
