순천만의 자연생태 보존을 위한 자연생태해설 프로그램의 개발
최근 순천만은 한국 생태관광의 명소로 자리 잡았다. 자연 생태가 잘 보존되어 있어서 독특한 지형과 동․식물의 군락지를 이루고 있다. 순천만의 대표적인 자연자원으로는 갯벌, 염습지, 원형갈대군락, 칠면초군락, 희귀 조류, 염생 동∙식물 등이 있다. 이러한 풍부한 자연자원을 감상하고 체험하기 위하여 탐방객들의 방문이 크게 늘고 있다. 이들 탐방객의 자연생태 체험을 돕고 자연자원을 보존하는데 유익한 해설프로그램의 필요성이 어느 때보다 높아지고 있다. 이 연구는 스토리텔링의 요소를 가미하여 자연생태 보존을 위한 해설프로그램을 개발하여 순천만을 찾는 탐방객들이 스스로 순천만을 답사하고 체험할 수 있도록 프로그램을 개발하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 문헌연구, 현장답사를 통한 해설프로그램 참여관찰과 해설가 심층면담을 실시한 후 순천만의 자연 생태적 가치와 기존 해설프로그램의 장․단점을 파악하여 자연생태 보존을 위한 해설프로그램을 개발하였다. 아래의 표 1에서 보는 것처럼 순천만을 찾는 탐방객들이 스스로 안내하면서 순천만을 답사할 수 있도록 스토리텔링의 요소를 프로그램 구분 세부 프로그램 시간대별 유형 프로그램 새벽 순천만의 해무 오전 순천만의 생물 오후 원형갈대군반 이해 저녁 순천만의 밤 계절별 유형 프로그램 봄 염생식물 기행, 갯벌생물 이해 여름 생명과 조화의 땅, 갯벌 속으로 가을 갈대의 속삭임, 일곱색깔 무지개 칠면초 겨울 철새와 함께 순천만으로, 아름다운 순천만으로의 비행 소요시간별 유형 프로그램 1시간 순천만 탐조대 체험 2시간 순천만의 갯벌 3시간 순천만의 생물 하루 순천만 답사 1박 2일 아, 순천만! 가미해 개발한 순천만의 자연생태 해설프로그램은 크게 세 가지의 프로그램으로 구성된다. 첫 번째는 시간대별 유형 프로그램으로 새벽(순천만의 해무), 오전(순천만의 생물), 오후(원형갈대군반 이해), 저녁(순천만의 밤)을 기준으로 프로그램을 구성하였다. 두 번째는 계절별 유형 프로그램으로 봄(염생식물 기행, 갯벌생물 이해), 여름(생명과 조화의 땅 갯벌 속으로), 가을(갈대의 속삭임, 일곱 색깔 무지개 칠면초), 겨울(철새와 함께 순천만으로, 아름다운 순천만으로의 비행)로 분류하여 프로그램을 구성하였다. 세 번째는 소요시간별 유형 프로그램으로 1시간 프로그램(순천만 탐조대 체험), 2시간 프로그램(순천만의 갯벌), 3시간 프로그램(순천만의 생물), 하루 프로그램(순천만 답사), 1박2일 프로그램(아, 순천만!)으로 프로그램을 구성하였다. 표 1. 해설프로그램의 시간별, 계절별 구분 프로그램 구분 세부프로그램 경관감상형 프로그램 순천만의 해무, 순천만의 생물 등 체험형 프로그램 자전거해설, 갈대열차해설 등 스토리텔링 프로그램 원형갈대군반 이해, 순천만 답사 등 이상의 세 가지 프로그램을 그 내용을 기준으로 다시 세 가지 유형. 즉, 감상형프로그램, 체험형 프로그램, 스토리텔링 프로그램으로 분류하였다(표 2). 이 프로그램들은 순천만자연생태관부터 용산전망대를 포함하여 순천만 전역을 사례 지역으로 제시하였다. 표 2. 프로그램의 내용에 따른 유형연구방법을 통하여 얻은 자료를 분석하여 프로그램을 구성하였으나 현장 적용을하지 않은 상태에서 프로그램이 현실적으로 적용 가능한지에 대한 확신은 없다. 그러나 향후 프로그램을 적용할 필요가 있으며 더 많은 연구가 진행 되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. Recently, Suncheon Bay became a noted place for eco-tourism in Korea. The natural resources are well preserved so that its unique geography is in harmony with a rich habitat for flora and fauna. The most representative natural resources of Suncheon Bay include tidal flat, salt marsh, circular reed colony, Suaeda japonica colony, rare birds, and halophyte flora and fauna. The number of visitors are significantly increasing for sightseeing and experience of such rich natural resources. Now more than ever, there is a strong demand for a useful interpretive program which can help visitors to experience the ecology and conserve the natural resources. The aim of this study was to develop an interpretive program for natural resources conversation by adding the element of storytelling, so as to help visitors in Suncheon Bay to explore and experience the place on their own. To achieve such goal, first, a participatory observation was made with an interpretive program based on reviewing previous studies and visiting the site, and an in-depth interview was conducted with an interpreter. Next, ecological values of Suncheon Bay were identified and advantages and disadvantages of the existing interpretive program were examined. As a result, the interpretive program for natural resources conversation was developed as follows. As shown in the table 1, three programs were integrated into the interpretive program for natural resources of Suncheon Bay with the element of storytelling to provide visitors a self-guide opportunity and explore the place on their own. The first program was for each time of the day, which was composed of dawn (Sea fog of Suncheon Bay), morning (Organism of Suncheon Bay), afternoon (Understanding the circular reed beds), and evening (Night at Suncheon Bay). The second program was for each season, which was composed of spring (Journey with the halophyte vegetation and understanding the tidal flat creatures), summer (Into the land of life and harmony, the tidal flat), autumn (Whisper of reed, Rainbow colors the Suaeda japonica), and winter (To Suncheon Bay with passage birds, Beautiful flight to Suncheon Bay). The third program was for each length of the visit, which was composed of the one hour program (Experience of Suncheon Bay observatory), two hour program (Tidal flat of Suncheon Bay), three hour program (Organism of Suncheon Bay), one day program (Field trip to Suncheon Bay), and Two days one night program (Ah, Suncheon Bay!). Classified by Time, Seasons Interpretive Program Based on the above three programs, another classification was made into the following three: sightseeing program; experience program; and storytelling program (Table 2). The entire area of Suncheon Bay was presented as the example area including Suncheon Bay Natural Resources Center and Yongsan observatory. Table 2: Classification based on the Program Content The above program was structured based on the data analysis with the corresponding research method. However it was not actually applied to the target site, thus its applicability in a real environment should be verified. More studies should be made on this topic and ultimately the program should be adopted.
