This paper describes the result of carbody and vibration test for freight car. The purpose of the test is to evaluate an safety which carbody structure shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to load a freight car under maximum load and operating condition on line track. The test carbody is constructed by RS korea co., LTD. in accordance with KNR specfication. The test cases of the carbody is tested the vertical load and compressive load to verify the strength and stiffness. The vibration test is tested for analysis and evaluation of vibration, to allow for the fact that mechanical vibration in railway vehicles have specific characteristics.

Performance test is carried out in accordance with "performance test standard for Electrical Multiple Unit", noticed by Ministry of Construction & Transportation in 2000. The object of this standard is to ensure that vehicle is tested after completion and before entry into service. Performance test is classified by type test to be carried out for the first car and its components in order to verify their performance and by routine test to be carried out on the whole quantity in order to prove the performance of individual items. Scope of the test is divided by components, completed car, preliminary adjustment test and running test on main line. The paper introduces a testing procedure and an execution method of the performance test.

This paper describes the result of carbody load test. The purpose of the test is to evaluate an safety which carbody structure shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load and operating condition. Carbody material applied a stainless steel and an aluminum alloy, The stainless steel model is the carbody of a motor car which is delivering to KNR line 1 in 2002 and the aluminum alloy model is the carbody of a motor car which is delivering to GWANGJU line 1 in 2003. This strength test is based on "performance test standard for Electrical Multiple Unit, noticed by Ministry of Construction & Transportation, in 2000" and reference code is UIC 566 and JIS E 7105.

This paper describes the result of structure analysis and load test of bogie frame. The purpose of the analysis and test is to evaluate an safety which bogie frame shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load. Bogie system consist of bogie frame, suspensions, wheel-sets, brake system and transmission system. Among these component, the bogie frame is most significant component subjected to the vehicle and passenger loads. The evaluation method is used the JIS E 4207 specification throughout the FEM analysis and static load test. The test results have been very safety and stable for design load conditions.

This paper describes the result of wearing test on the Sangju test track. The purpose of the test is to evaluate an amount of wearing for EMU"s pan to shoes. Panto shoes are affected in wearing by environment owing to expose the vehicle. Especially, the rainy season, they are found easy to get an increase in wearing of panto shoes. To evaluate an amount of wearing, we carried out running test for 5 months under the ground line conditions.
