청소년쉼터에서의 가출청소년과 쉼터종사자들의 생활에 대한 문화 기술적 연구

본 연구는 가출 청소년 쉼터에서 보호되고 있는 가출청소년들과 종사자들의 삶과 문화를 알아보기 위한 문화 기술적 연구이다. 연구의 목적을 위해서 `I쉼터`라는 청소년쉼터에 거주하고 있는 청소년들의 입소 전 가출생활, 입소후의 쉼터생활 그리고 종사자들의 쉼터생활을 알아보고 이를 기초로 쉼터운영에 관한 정책적 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 연구결과 가출청소년들은 입소 전까지 자유의 시기, 또래와의 합숙시기, 절망의 시기 세 단계를 거쳤고 쉼터에 입소하는 시점은 절망감이 극에 달하는 시기이다. 입소후의 생활에서는 의식주해결과 집단상담 프로그램이 가장 유익하다고 평가했으며, 청소년들은 학업중단과 장래직업에 대한 불안감이 컸다. 쉼터 종사자들은 가출예방사업보다는 일시보호사업에 더 많은 비중을 두면서, 시간적 공간적 차원에 따라 다양한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 따라서 종사자들이 바라는 일은 전문인력 및 예산의 확충이다. 이러한 결과를 기초로 예산확충 및 전문인력보장, 쉼터의 특성화 방안을 제시하였다. The purpose of the study was to describe and analyze the everyday experiences in shelter for runaway youths in order to suggest a welfare policy to a improve the quality of everyday life for runaways and prevent the problems in advance. To understand the world of shelters at indepth level, an ethnographic field work was conducted at a shelter for runaway youth called `I`. Based on the analyses of ethnographic data, the following results were found: First, in most cases the runaway youths usually only come to the shelter when they are driven to despair Second, the runaways youths were generally satisfied with the dairy living schedule planned for them at the shelter, however, they had desire to continue schooling and/or job training. Third, the task and work load assigned to each social workers at the shelter were too much to the point of unmanageable. Based on these findings, the following suggestion for welfare policy were proposed: First, programs at shelters should be diversified according to the different types and problems of runaways. Second, more opportunity for schooling and job training for runaways youths should be available. Finally, increase in budget and human resources are much needed.

The purpose of this study was (l) to explore the present state of worksheets for home use with young children, and (2) to examine perceptions of young children`s mothers and editors about these worksheets. 40 kinds of worksheets delivered to children`s homes were analyzed. 106 mothers and 131 editors were surveyed by use of questionnaires which had been developed by the researchers. The results showed that (1) even though there are many types of worksheets delivered to the homes of young children, there are few worksheets which meet their teaching goals; (2) young children`s mothers are well informed about the state of worksheets, and they would like to supplement the worksheets with visits by teachers who majored in child related studies; (3) the editors of worksheets have mostly majored in Korean language, English, and Math-related studies but not in child related studies.

A survey analysis of home video games was carried out for 1,018 elementary school children. Children responded to a questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic variables, degree of game participation(frequency and mean time), control behavior(eg. resting during games, lightening interior), and physical symptoms(eg. eyestrain, headache, trembling, paralyses) during and/or after playing games. Statistical analysis was done by frequency, percentile, and chitest. The results showed that many children enjoyed video games frequently and played continually, that few children did control behavior during games. Main variables related to degree of game playing and control behavior were sex, game experience, parent`s education, and mother`s activity. In particular, the results implied that the level of physical symptoms during and/or after game differed by lighting factors.
