Spin Properties of PVA Nanofibers with Ferritin

We investigate the morphological and the magnetic properties of ferritin-embedded poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) nanofibers. Monodispersed ferritin (MF) and the clustered superparamagnetic (SPM) ferritin (CF) were embedded into biocompatible PVA nanofibers by using an electrospinning method. The magnetic phase of CF was partly changed from an antiferromagnetic to a ferromagnetic ordering, depending on the annealing temperature. CF keeping the SPM phase was successfully synthesized into PVA nanofibers and the SPM properties were analyzed and compared with those of natural ferritin embedded in PVA nanofibers. These results can be applied in manipulating the size and the magnetic ordering of biocompatible superparamagnets to realize biomedical electromagnetic devices.
Electronic Structures and Magnetic Properties of Co2CrAl Films

In this study, Co2CrAl Heusler alloy (HA) films with significantly different structural orders were fabricated and the in fluence of atomic disorder on various physical properties was investigated. We found that the lattice constant of the films gradually increased as the structural disorder increased. We also showed that the ordered Co2CrAl HA films were ferromagnetically ordered with a Curie temperature close to that of the bulk sample. The structural disorder causes a reduction in the saturation magnetization and the decrease in the Curie temperature. As the structural order was increased, the main peak of the Co L3-edge spectrum shifted to a higher energy. The observed experimental results were analyzed in connection with changes in the atomic and the electronic structures.
