본 연구는 국내 학술지를 중심으로 자기초점주의에 관한 연구 동향 분석을 통해 후속 연구를 위한 방향성을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 KCI에 등재된 논문 67편을 연구대상으로 선정하여 발행연도, 연구대상, 연구방법 및 통계분석, 연구변인, 측정도구를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기초점주의에 관한 연구는 2002년에 시작되어 2008년부터 매년 꾸준한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 특히 2016년도에 연구 수가 급증했고 이후 2022년도까지 매년 평균 6편 이상의 연구들이 이루어지고 있다. 둘째, 연구대상은 대학(원)생을 대상으로 한 연구가 가장 많았다. 셋째, 연구방법으로는 2편을 제외하고 모두 양적 연구였으며, 통계분석 방법으로는 구조분석계열 방법의 빈도수가 가장 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 자기초점주의는 독립변인과 매개변인으로서의 연구가 주를 이루고 있었다. 마지막으로, 자기초점주의와 함께 연구된 다양한 변인들을 8개의 범주로 나누었을 때, 정서, 대인 및 사회, 인지, 자기 및 동기 등의 순으로 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 ‘대학(원)생 외의 다양한 연령별과 직업별을 대상으로 한 연구 필요성’, ‘자기초점주의에 대한 질적연구와 혼합연구 필요성’, ‘부정적 자기초점주의 완화 및 감소 요인 연구 필요성’, ‘일반적 자기초점주의 및 자기초점주의의 긍정적 측면 연구 필요성’ ‘자기초점주의 척도 다양화 필요성’ 등 향후 연구과제를 제안하였으며, 이후, 본 연구의 한계 및 의의에 대해 논하였다. The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on Self-Focused attention and provide directions for future research. To this end, 67 KCI-listed papers were selected and analyzed by research objects and the year of publication, research objects, research methods and statistical analysis, research variables, and measurement tools. The results of the study were as follows: First, research on Self-Focused attention began in 2002 and has been steadily conducted every year since 2008. In particular, the number of studies rapidly increased in 2016, and since then, an average of more than six studies have been conducted every year until 2022. Second, the most common objects of the study were college students and graduate students. Third, all but two research methods were quantitative, and the frequency of structural analysis methods was the highest as a statistical analysis method. Fourth, Self-Focused attention was mainly studied as an independent variable and a mediating variable. Finally, when various variables studied along with Self-Focused Attention were divided into eight categories, many studies were conducted in the order of emotion, interpersonal and social, cognition, self and motivation. Based on these results, this study proposed future research tasks such as “the need for research on various ages and occupations other than university students,” “the need for qualitative and mixed research on Self-Focused Attention,” “the need for research on mitigating and reducing negative Self-Focused attention.” After that, the limitations and significance of this study were discussed.
