Background and objective: Vertical smart farm (VSF) is an alternative that contributes to solving various problems such as climate change and food shortage. This study focused on the types and awareness of VSF to introduce and diffuse VSF. We aimed to investigate the types of VSF and citizens’ awareness on VSF. We analyzed 1) where the smart farm technology could be implemented on a building; 2) what citizens think about VSF; and 3) suggested what is most necessary for the introduction and diffusion of VSF in the future based on citizens’ perception. Methods: VSF types were investigated through case studies on VSF in Korea and overseas. Citizens perception on VSF was investigated through a questionnaire survey. A statistical analysis was conducted with the survey results for implications of the introduction and diffusion of VSF. Results: Four types of VSF were derived: rooftop farms, facade farms, indoor farms, and farms using the whole building. The survey showed that 29.2%, 27.8%, and 22.2% of respondents knew well about urban agriculture, smart farms, and vertical smart farms, respectively. Respondents answered that improving awareness is the most important factor to introduce VSF. According to the statistical analysis, it was determined that education and promotion of the necessity of VSF would be important to diffuse the VSF. Conclusion: VSF can be a solution to a variety of problems we face. The results of this study suggest a direction for the introduction and diffusion of VSF. In order to introduce VSF in the future, additional studies must be conducted on the legal system.

In response to improper apartment housing maintenance practices, residents can file defect complaints or defect dispute litigations against construction companies. Legal arguments can then be made to address conflicting claims regarding housing and maintenance standards along with repair methods. A considerable amount of money and time are typically spent in these legal matters. To address these problems, conflicting claims and other controversial issues must first be resolved before a defect complaint or defect dispute litigation is issued. In this study, 61 court rulings were examined to analyze the controversies related to apartment housing construction defects. Keywords were derived from these cases using a Python program. The derived keywords were classified by work type, location, cause, and type. The main issues related to work type in housing defect court rulings were tiles, fire doors, paint, trees, and facilities. The data related to these items were compared with defect repair data. Analysis of the court cases of main work types and defect repair data revealed that various construction types such as tiles, wallpaper, equipment, and furniture overlapped. Our analysis revealed that if the derived work types are systematically managed, defect disputes and defect filings could be reduced.

The introduction of smart architecture is being promoted by the spread of fourth industrial revolution technology. Smart architecture is a major component of smart city which shares physical space and information with smart city. However, since the concept of smart architecture has not been established beforehand, there it may cause confusion in the introduction of smart architecture. Therefore, in this study, to establish the concept of smart architecture, FGI(Focus Group Interview), research review, and questionnaire survey based AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) was performed. Keywords were collected from a total of 19 literatures and 13 experts. In addition, an AHP survey was conducted with 153 experts. As a result, the smart architecture should focus on several aspects including the service that the building provides to users, its role in smart city.

Environmental planning includes resource allocation and spatial planning process for the conservation and management of environment. Because the spatialization of the environmental planning is not specifically addressed in the relevant statutes, it actually depends on the qualitative methodology such as expert judgement. The results of the qualitative methodology have the advantage that the accumulated knowledge and intuition of the experts can be utilized. However, it is difficult to objectively judge whether it is enough to solve the original problem or whether it is the best of the possible scenarios. Therefore, this study proposed a methodology to quantitatively and objectively spatialize various environmental planning. At first, we suggested a quantitative spatial planning model based on an optimization algorithm. Secondly, we applied this model to two kinds of environmental planning and discussed about the model performance to present the applicability. Since the models were developed based on conceptual study site, there was a limitation in showing possibility of practical use. However, we expected that this study can contribute to the fields related to environmental planning by suggesting flexible and novel methodology.
