In the HVDC Cable Accessory connection, there are a lot of space charges at the interface between the cable insulation and the connection part insulation, and at the interface between metals and polymers. It is also reported that insulation and accessory insulation have a large difference between the ratio of the dielectric constant and electrical conductivity of the cable and accessory insulation. And this space charge can strengthen and distort the local electric field near the interface. For that reason, the surface of SiC (Silicon Carbide), a semiconductive inorganic material based on EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), was modified to strengthen the chemical reaction and interface. EPDM/Nano SiC/Micro SiC Mixture Composites were prepared and the properties of electrical insulation, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity were studied by mixing nano SiC and micro SiC.Moreover, in order to increase the mechanical tensile strength in the optimal state of electrical conduction and electrical insulation, the electrical and mechanical properties were studied by mixing Akitifit (Silica Kolinite), a surface-modified inorganic material.
