An amenity requirement of the passenger using public traffic is rising continuously, and also The Ministry of Environment established "Indoor air quality management guidelines in public facilities(Dec. 2006)". To satisfy such requirement, the photoplasma device to decrease VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) and suspended bacillus is applied to the underframe mounted HVAC(Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) system for train. Air purifying method of photoplasma device is optical and chemical reaction that UV-light(wavelength less than 280nm) react with catalyst material(TiO2). To analyze the efficiency of photoplasma in this study, we measured the requirement time for toluene to decease down to 0.3ppm after contaminating the passenger cabin for train to toluene 1ppm.

After the opening of Kyong-Bu High Speed Railway, tremendous change was occurred in the various realm in Korean Society. But in the Daegu-Busan section, KTX was still running on the conventional line where the railroad was improved to more straightly. For the noise prediction of KTX train which runs on the conventional line, components of noise source were analyzed using SEL(Sound Exposure Level) of meassured data. For the validation of suggested prediction equation, the predicted result was compared to the measured.

In this study the sound field on the surface of the top edge of noise barriers is actively minimized to enhance the shielding effect without increasing the hight of the barrier. First the results of a numerical study are shown; the sound field reduction in the far field due to a cylindrical active headpiece attached to a semi-infinite screen and the related control parameters are investigated. The results of a model experiment in an anechoic chamber and optimal control parameters for noise control on the railway side are shown and discussed.

When high speed train runs on heavy curvature section of conventional line, squeal noise emitted from the railroad and wheel. This noise is very unpleasant to the near habitant. In this study, the characteristics and the countermeasures of the squeal noise of high speed train running on the conventional line was investigated.
