The prediction of the terminal velocity of particles in quiescent fluid is important in many industrial applications such as mining processes, fluidized bed reactor, and grain milling. Many studies on this topic have been reported with relatively accurate correlations for solid spheres, but it is hard to find experimental results and correlations for terminal velocity of irregular shaped bodies. In this study, the settling velocity of various types of objects was examined at Reynolds number lower than 20 in high viscous fluid; glycerin and silicon oil. Our experiment was mainly focused on obtaining the relationship between drag coefficient and Reynolds number for irregular shaped bodies. As a result, the drag coefficient of the irregular shaped bodies has discrepancy of about 15% from the Haider and Levenspiel correlation ( Powder Technol. 58, 1989, pp. 63).
