This study presents a novel monitoring scheme for precast structures with the developed multimeric sensing system incorporated with strain offset calibration using FE modeling. The developed system can measure strain, tilt, and acceleration in one unit . Since strain measurements from precast structures inevitably have offset due to unknown initial stress conditions, controlling the quality of the structure by the predetermined level of strain is impractical. This study calibrates the offset of strain measurement by optimally selecting strain measurement locations that become close to zero at the lift stage using FE modeling. The acceleration, tilt, and strain responses during lifting and transportation of the structure were acquired by the proposed system and calibrated to obtain absolute strain during transportation. The experimental validation showed the feasibility of continuous structural health monitoring of precast panels during delivery.
