Spindle cell carcinoma is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma characterized histologically by a biphasic pattern with both squamous and spindle cell component. There is controversy in the histogenesis, biologic behavior, optimal treatment and prognostic factor for tumor. Treatment must be similar for squamous cell carcinoma. With a review of literature, we report a case of a 52-yearold female with spindle cell carcinoma in the uterine cervix, which has been managed by total hysterectomy.

Dilatation and curettage (D&C) is one of the most frequently performed procedures for first trimester surgical abortion, also nonobstetric D&C can be performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic indications. The mortality and morbidity of D&C are very low, and perforation of uterus is rare. But curettage of a large, soft postpartum uterus can be a formidable undertaking because the risk of perforation is high and the procedure commonly results in increased rather than decreased bleeding. Although many perforations are innocuous, others lead to infection, hemorrhage, and trauma to abdominal contents. Bowel perforation is an infrequent complication, it persists as an important cause of peritonitis and sepsis. The following cases describe two women, who suffered intestinal perforation after D&C at delayed postpartum period.

Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy is relatively new and minimally invasive surgery. The advantages of this operation are conserving the cervix. But it has complications like intraoperative bleeding, ureteral injury, bowel perforation and postoperative hematoma. Pseudoaneurysm can be acquired in association with trauma, previous surgery, trophoblastic disease. When a punctured artery does not seal completely, blood may escape and dissects the adjacent tissues, and collects in perivascular areas. If this maintains in communication with the parent vessel, a pseudoaneurysm could result. Typically the lesions are discovered because the patients have symptoms related to delayed rupture of the pseudoaneurysm, causing severe hemorrhage. Radiologic techniques have provided the opportunity to diagnose and treat pseudoaneurysm. We experienced a case of severe hemorrhage in the cervix four weeks following laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy attributed to a pseudoaneurysm of the uterine artery and treated with arterial embolization.

Uterine rupture in pregnancy is a rare condition, but an obstetric emergency. It threatens the life of both the mother and the newborn. Hemorrhage from the wound surface is the principal complication. Therefore, mortality rates strongly depend on the time elapsed between onset and diagnosis of the uterine rupture, and on the possibility of immediate surgical intervention. Prompt diagnosis of the uterine rupture is of prime importance. The major risk factor for uterine rupture is previous cesarean delivery. Other risk factors identified as contributing to uterine rupture are malpresentations, second stage dystocia, labor induction, use of epidural for pain control, preterm delivery and delivery after the 42nd week of gestation. We experienced a woman with a history of corneal resection 1 year ago, who suffered uterine rupture at 35 weeks` gestation during preterm labor.

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in adults is a life-threatening disorder characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and acute renal failure, which is not related to Escherichia coli. This disease occurs under the condition of certain stresses, including pregnancy related disease like as preeclampsia, placental abruption, and amniotic fluid embolism. Heparin and plasma exchange has proven to be an effective treatment for HUS and it has decreased the mortality of this illness. We experienced a case of 34 weeks` pregnant woman with preeclampsia who presented with hematuria, oliguria, hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia. We performed emergency cesarean section due to fetal distress. After operation, she was treated with transfusion of packed red blood cell, parenteral albumin, and anticoagulant. After seven days from the operation, the sign of hematuria disappeared and her renal function partially recovered. We describe this case with a brief review of the literature.
