Because many environmental regulations are tightened, development of the E-mobility which uses Li-ion battery is rapidly increasing too. A proper thermal management system is necessary because battery performance is so reliant on temperature. This research experimentally suggests the importance and performance efficiency of cooling system. We developed an air cooling system with small wind tunnel that has heat exchanger and cylinder mesh to make laminar flow and temperature parameters. Also we produced a battery pack (3S3P) which operates 1.5kW at 1C and discharged the battery from 1C to 2C while measuring temperature change, discharge performance, and electrical resistance. These measurements are important factors to predict the performance of the battery. As a result, we found the heat generation according to the amount of discharge, cooling effect when applied with cooling system, and the importance of battery cooling.
