Information service is the one of the crucial components in library services. The development of internet, information and communication technology has changed the traditional services in academic libraries. The most of the academic libraries in Korea provides the online information service very successfully. But, the online information service has started in Mongolia just several years before. The purpose of this study is to compare the Korean and Mongolian university libraries and based on this finding, to suggest the considerations for the online information service in Mongolian University Libraries. The considerations for the online information services are the most important for improving the quality of services and assisting librarians to design and implement better services. For the purposes of this study, the act of providing information service via the web is referred as the online information service. For this study, we estimated following steps for our study. First, as a literature research, definitions, features and types of online information service were reviewed. The types of information services based on web were analyzed. Second, the study was examined case studies on libraries of the Chonbuk National University and Mongolian University of Scienceand Technology. While the means for the provision of the information services in the Mongolian University are limited, the Korean University’s library has been providing many types of information services. Third, in order to analyze a present condition of online information service in library of Mongolian University of Science and Technology compared to the information services of library of Chonbuk National University, all the policies related to the information services were inadequate in Mongolia. And systematic management of the information service were not properly carried out, because of the Mongolian Social and Economic Condition, Backwardness of the Development of Mongolian Information and Technology field, lastly the Librarian’s Education and Training. In order to improve such problems, the following steps must be taken: Firstly, the organizations of the libraries must be caring the development policies for library. Secondly, the technologies of the library need to improve. Thirdly, the continuing education of the librarians must be strengthened.
