        Because of the World-wide ideological confrontation since the beginning of this century, our nation was divided into South and North and has suffered the tragical life during more than half century. Even amid this circumstance, a series of abrupt transitions such as the collapse of berlin Wall, the downfall of Eastern Europe bloc, the dissolution of the USSR which was the suzerain state of communism, the transformation of the communist bloc into democracy and market economy system, the death of Kim Il Sung and the deterioration of the economic condition of North Korea gave us the hope of national unification. At the same time, this situation has greatly required the precise examination to prepare for unification. Therefore this study aims to compare the idea, course and policy of elementary education after unification. The characteristic of educational system of South korea is to protect the liberty and fundamental human rights of people on the basis of liberal democracy. To the contrary, North Korea is using education as a mean to make people socialistic and revolutionary on the basis of Ju-che thought which is the socialism North Korean type. Under this consideration, I described that our education after unification should be directed to restoring the national homogeneity and bringing up democratic citizen based on autonomy and responsibility and to the education for construction of a national community matchable to computerization and globalization. I also stressed that the education after unification should be proceeded on the idea of the creative education of liberal democracy system of South Korea and embrace our whole peninsula at the educational aspect by properly accepting at the educational aspect by properly accepting practical training on the spot and the method obtaining the living knowledge of production as a useable part of education in the collapsing North Korea.
