Roll die forming(RDF) process is a new manufacturing technology for producing tooth parts such as drum clutch and hub clutch in automotive transmission. In RDF process, the material is deformed by the roll installed in the die set. The quantitative benefits of RDF process are excellent productivity, low forming load, and improved dimensional accuracy. In this study, RDF process is applied to manufacture a hub clutch with tooth shape part. Especially, dimensional accuracy of final product was quite affected by die clearance between roll and punch. In this study, FE-analysis was performed in order to investigate the deformation behavior of material and dimension accuracy of the final product. Based on the result of FE-analysis, design of experiment(DOE) was carried out to determine the optimal die clearance for improvement of dimensional accuracy.
