This research was performed to estimate the shape of an average lactation curve and to develop adjustment factors to reduce errors in estimating test-interval milk yields from sample-day production. Complete records were available for 187 lactations for the period from calving to 310 days in milk. The average daily production increased rapidly from calving to a peak at 39 days in milk and declined at a nearly linear rate. To estimate test-interval yields accurately adjustment for the location of sample days on the lactation curve, especially the interval from talking to first sample days, interval around the lactation peak and interval after last sample day were required. Separate factors were developed for the three interval,; of the lactation curve that require the adjustment. Factors from this study were similar to USDA factors but different from those adopted in Korea Animal Improvement Association.
사료 제한급여 수준에 따른 정상 및 왜소 육용종계의 생산능력 비교 1 . 사료급여 수준이 육성계의 성장능력에 미치는 효과

This experiment was performed to compare the growth performance of normal and dwarf broiler breeders under various degrees of feed restriction and to evaluate the breeder`s recommended growth curve and corresponding feeding program for each strain. The feeding programs within each strain were designed according to the desired growth curves as ad libitum(AL). 5% above the breeder`s standard curve (+5%), standard curve(STD), and 5% below the standard curve(-5%). The normal strains consumed 26 to 33% more feed than the dwarf strain under the AL feeding programs and 3 to 9% more under the STD. Under the STD feeding, the normal strains consumed 3% more feed than the feed allowance recommended by the breeder`s guide, and the dwarf strain consumed 10% more feed. At 21 weeks of age the dwarf pullets weighed about 86% of the normal strains under the STD feeding programs. Viability was significantly lower for the dwarf strain than for the normal strains but was not different between feeding programs within a strain. The degree of feed restriction had a significant effect on delay of sexual maturity of pullets.
젖소에 있어서 성장호르몬 ( BST ) 투여가 산유량 , 혈청내 BST 농도 및 우유내 BST 농도에 미치는 영향

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of BST treatment on milk production. and BST concentration in serum and milk of Holstein cows. The data used in this study were obtained in 9 Holstein cows. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows ; 1. Milk yield of BST group was higher by 8.6% than that of controls. 2. Least-squares means of milk yield significantly differed between BST group and controls from 2 to 15 days after BST treatment(p$lt;0.05). but did not differ after 16 days. 3. Serum BST concentration of BST group was significantly higher than that of controls until 8 days after teatment(p$lt;0.05). but was not higher after 12 days. 4. BST concentration in milk did not significantly differ between BST group and controls.
한우 체중의 유전적 변화 추정을 위한 Monte Carlo 모형 개발

The Monte Carlo simulation method was applied to postulate the genetic changes for the body weight at 6 and 12 months of age of Korean cattle(Han Wool. As assumptions for gene action, each animal had 64 loci with two alleles. `A` and `a` or `B` and `b`, with 32 pairs in each genome to allow epistasis between loci. The epistasis allowed between two loci. The genome was arbitrarily divided into 8 sections and the gene mode simulated was as follows; On the body weight at 6 months of age, an additive effect of `A/B` gene was observed in 4 sections among 8 sections, while that of `a/b` gene appeared in I section for the body weight. An interaction between additive by dominant effect was obtained in 2 sections, but them was no gene action in 1 section. On the body weight at 12 months of age, there were additive effects of `A/B` gene in 5 sections, dominant effect in 1 section, additive by dominant effect in 1 section and additive effect of `a/b` gene, on the body weight. The heritabilities of body weight at 6 and 12 months of age were 0.36 and 0.45, respectively, and gene mode actions were adopted to estimate genetic changes in body weight at 6 and 12 months of age in Korean cattle.
