        The PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottle waste can be transformed into recycled fiber, but the domestic plastic waste is not well recycled. PET bottles are collected at the apartment complex, and collected bottles are repacked and sent to centralized recycling centers, where bottles are shredded, cleaned, and separated from different materials. In the meantime, it is easy to be contaminated, and it is recommended that PET bottles are separately shredded and collected at the place where they are thrown away. In this paper, we propose a label detection method for PET waste bottles, because in general labels are different materials from PET. Labels are limitedly detected by vision-based techniques, thus a complementary method is required. The friction force is different between the label and the PET surface, and therefore it can be used for the label detection methodology. In this work, the load and rotation speed applied by the experimental apparatus, which motor rotates a wheel contacted on the bottle, are measured. Based on the rotational speed measurements, the residual between PET and label contact speed is to be evaluated. In the result, the speed records are investigated. When the wheel rotates with the contact to the PP label, RPM jumps are observed, and this implies the label can be detected. The jumps were created by the slips between the bottle and the label, because only a small area of the label is attached. When the wheel rotates with the contact to the paper label which glued closely to the bottle, no RPM jump is observed. Therefore, the whole face attachment could not be detected by observing the speed records. In the future, more rigorous detection methodology will be developed by using residual dynamic equations.
