The purpose of this study was to examine how martial-art training affected the school adjustment and sociability of teenagers in an effort to prove the effectiveness of martial-art training as part of ideal education. The subjects in this study were high school boys and girls in Gyeonggi province. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 411 students were selected and analyzed by SPSS Ver. 12.0 program in a way to serve the purpose of the study. The findings of the study were as follows: First, concerning the school adjustment of the students by demographic characteristics, the boys and girls were different from each other according to their gender in relationship with teachers, learning attitude, rule abiding and school-event participation. Their gender made a significant difference to their rule abiding(P<.05), and their relationship with teacher and school-event participation varied with their gender as well. Martial-art training made a difference to their relations with peers and teachers, and they were significantly different from one another in rule abiding and school-event participation according to the type of martial art they learned(P<.01). Second, in terms of the development of sociability by demographic characteristics, their stability and autonomy differed with their gender, and their age made a difference to their stability, dominance and sociality. Their activity level, stability and dominance varied with martial-art training experience, and the type of martial art they learned made a difference to their activity level. All the differences among them were significant(P<.01). Third, as for correlation between the subvariables of martial-art training and those of school adjustment, there was a positive correlation between them. Concerning the influence of martial-art training and school adjustment, their relationship with teachers was affected by two factors that included training term and intensity. One factor, training frequency, had an impact on their peer relations, and their rule abiding was influenced by a factor, which was training term. Their school-event participation was under the influence of an element that was training term. All the impact of martial-art training was significant at the 5% level of significance. Fourth, regarding correlation between the subvariables of martial-art training and those of sociability development, a very strong positive correlation existed between them. As to the influence of martial-art training on sociability development, their activity level was affected by one factor, training frequency, and their stability was influenced by two factors that involved training intensity and frequency. A factor, training frequency, exerted an influence on their dominance, and their sociability was impacted by a factor, training intensity. A factor, training intensity, had an impact on their autonomy, and all the influence of martial-art training was significant at the 5% level of significance.

The purpose of this study was to make a quantitative investigation into the impact of the leadership behavior style of Judo instructors on group cohesion and the satisfaction of group members in a bid to help determine what type of leadership style and profile Judo instructors should have. The subjects in this study were 278 players who were selected from a population that consisted of Judo players in Seoul and Gyeonggi province who joined Korea Judo Association. After a survey was conducted, the players who gave completed answer sheets were selected. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS PC+ Ver. 10.0 program in a way to serve the purpose of the study, and the findings of the study were as follows: First, there was a positive correlation between the leadership behavior style of Judo instructors and group cohesion. Regarding the impact of leadership behavior style on group cohesion, leadership behavior style exerted a positive influence at the 1% level of significance on social cohesion at a personal(training, social support and reward) and collective(authority, training, social support and reward) level, and on task cohesion at a personal(democracy, social support and reward) and collective(democracy and social support) level. Second, in terms of correlational relationship between the leadership behavior style of Judo instructors and the satisfaction of the group members, there was correlation among leadership behavior style, task reception and social interaction. The leadership behavior style had a positive impact at the 1% level of significance on their satisfaction with task reception (training and authority), social interaction(training and reward) and coach behaviors (training, democracy and reward). Third, as for the correlation of the extent of the workout of the Judo players to group cohesion and satisfaction, there was a positive correlation among their extent of exercise, satisfaction and coach behaviors. In regard to the influence of the extent of exercise on group cohesion, social cohesion at a personal level was under the influence of exercise hours and career at the 1% level of significance, and workout hours and career had a positive impact at the 1% level of significance on personal and group cohesion. Concerning the impact of the extent of workout on satisfaction, satisfaction with task reception was positively affected by workout hours at the 1% level of significance, and satisfaction with social interaction was positively influenced at the 1% level of significance by workout career and hours. Their satisfaction with coach behaviors was under the positive influence of workout hours at the 1% level of significance.

Water pollution in the lower reaches of the Namhan River is getting worse due to drought and a decrease in water quantity due to climatic changes and hence is affecting the water quality of Paldang Lake. Accordingly, we have used a water quality index (WQI) and statistical analysis in this study to identify the characteristics of the water quality in the lower reaches of the Namhan River, the main causes of water pollution, and tributaries that need priority management. Typically, 10 items (WT, pH, EC, DO, BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P, and TOC) were used as the water quality factors for the statistical analysis, and the matrix of data was set as 324 × 10·1. The correlation analysis demonstrated a strong correlation between Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and T-P with a high statistical significance (r=0.700, p<0.01). Furthermore, the result of principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the main factors affecting the change in water quality were T-P and organic substances introduced into the water by rainfall. Based on the Mann-Kendall test, a statistically significant increase in pH was observed in SH-1, DL, SH-2, CM, and BH, along with an increase in WQI in SH-2 and SM. BH was identified as a tributary that needs priority management in the lower r eaches o f t he N amhan R iver, with a “ Somewhat p oor” ( IV) g rade i n T -P, “Fair” g rade i n WQI, and “Marginal” grade in summer.
