        일라이트에 함유된 Fe 불순물 제거

        Recently, many attention have been focused on illite as a material for the well-being industry. Illite contains various kinds of iron bearing materials and they restrict their usage. In this study, Fe impurities in the illite produced in Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do were characterized and their removal experiments were performed. According to the characterization of illite raw ore, it contained 1.54 wt.%$Fe_2O_3$ due to the existence of iron oxide($Fe_2O_3$) and pyrite($FeS_2$). The raw ore was crushed into 3 mm or less using cone crusher and then ground by rod mill for the liberation of impurity mineral. For the removal of iron bearing minerals, an acid treatment, a flotation, a magnetic separation, and a flotation combined with magnetic separator were performed respectively. When the illite raw ore was treated with magnetic separation and various kinds of acid, 1.54wt.%. $Fe_2O_3$ content was reduced to 0.78 and 1.0 wt.%, respectively. On the other hand $Fe_2O_3$ content was reduced to be 0.52 wt.% after flotation. These results indicate that iron bearing minerals cannot be reduced below 0.3wt.%$Fe_2O_3$. However, combination of magnetic separation and flotation enable us to get 0.24wt.% of illite concentrate. It is concluded that, for the refinement of illite from Yeongdong-gun, the flotation combined with magnetic separation is good for high purity illite.

        유기산(有機酸)을 이용(利用)한 Aluminum Hydroxide의 미량원소(微量元素) 제거연구(除去硏究)

        본 연구에서는 국산 99.7%순도의 수산화알루미늄을 대상으로 미량원소로 함유되어 있는 Na, Ca및 Fe의 제거실험을 수행하였다. 용출액으로는 유기산인 oxalic acid와 citric acid를 사용하였으며 수산화알루미늄은 초기 입도가 서로 다른 2종류의 시료를 사용하였다. 수산화알루미늄의 미립화를 위해 ball mill을 사용하여 미분쇄 실험을 수행하였으며, 용출조건에 따른 미량원소의 용출특성을 조사하였다. 실험결과 0.1$\sim$1.0mole/l 농도범위에서 oxalic acid에 의한 원소 용출율이 citric acid보다 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 유기산 농도가 증가할수록 또한 반응온도가 증가할수록 원소의 용출율은 증가하였다. 미분쇄 공정시 순수한 물에 의한 Na의 용출율은 약 45%에 달해 aluminum hydroxide에 함유된 Na성분의 상당 부분은 수용성 화합물인 것으로 확인되었다. The removal of minor elements such as Na, Ca and Fe has been performed from domestic aluminum hydroxide of 99.7% purity with organic acids. Oxalic and citric acid were used as the leaching agent, respectively and aluminum hydroxides of different particle size were also employed for the purification with organic acid leaching. Fine grinding of aluminum hydroxide has been tested using ball mills and leaching characteristics of each element have also been examined in terms of leaching parameters such as temperature, acid concentration, and solid density. As a result, it was found that oxalic acid showed higher leaching efficiency than citric acid in the concentration range of 0.1 to 1.0 mole/l and leaching amount of each element was also increased with the acid concentration and reaction temperature. It was observed that about 45% of Na was leached out during ball milling process which implied that the majority of Na contained in aluminum hydroxide was water soluble compound.

        공기분급에 의한 폐콘덴서로부터 탄탈륨 회수

        폐 탄탈륨 콘덴서에 함유된 탄탈륨 anode를 물리적인 방법으로 회수하고자 파쇄, 입도분리, 건식 자력선별 그리고 공기 분급 실험을 수행하였다. 단체분리를 위해 롤 크럿셔를 사용하여 폐회로 공정에서 8mesh 이하로 파쇄하면. 대부분의 탄탈륨 anode는 레진과의 단체분리는 이루어지나 일부 금속과의 단체분리가 되지 않은 상태로 남게된다. 파쇄된 시료를 8/10 mesh, 10/18 mesh, -18 mesh 로 분립한 결과, 금속물질은 8/10 mesh 입자에, 탄탈륨 anode는 +18 mesh에 주로 분포하며, -l8 mesh에는 레진의 함량이 71.5%로 레진이 탄탈륨 anode나 금속물질보다 미립화가 쉽게 이루어짐을 알 수 있었다. 자력선별에 의한 금속 물질의 분리효율은 원료의 입도에 따라 크게 차이가 있으나, 일부 금속물질이 약자성체이거나 탄탈륨anode와 단체분리가 이루어지지 않아 금속물질 제거율은 62.3%로 비교적 저조하였다. 탄탈륨 anode와 레진의 분리를 위한 입도별 공기 분급실험 결과, 각 입도별 최적 공기량은 각각 39㎥/h, 32㎥/h, 20㎥/h로 나타났다. 최적의 조건으로 회수한 탄탈륨 anode 생산율은 49.39wt.%, 각 성분의 함량은 97.47wt.% 탄탈륨 anode, 0.93wt.% 레진. 1.51 wt.% 금속으로 탄탈륨 anode 실수율은 94.45%이었다. Physical separation containing grinding, sieving, dry magnetic separation and air classification were carried out in order to recover Ta anode from waste Ta condenser. Roll crusher wat used for the liberation of resin and metals in closed circuit system. The liberation between Ta anode and resin was easily achieved, whereat some of metals did not liberated from the Ta anode when the waste condenser was crushed below 8 mesh. When the crushed sample were divided into 8/10 mesh, 10/18 mesh and -18 mesh, metals was mainly remained in 8/10 mesh in contrast to Ta anode was in +18 mesh. It was shown that resin was more easily crushed rather than metals from the result of that resin content was 71.5% in -18 mesh. The liberation efficiency was different with the input size of the crushed sample and average efficiency was 62.3% due to the locked Ta anode particles. The results of air classification test for the crushed samples showed that optimal air flow are 39㎥/h, 32㎥/h, 20㎥/h. respectively. When the sample were separated with optimal condition, 94.45% Ta anode containing 97.47 wt.% Ta anode, 0.93 wt.% resin. 1.61 wt.% metal was recovered with 49.39 wt.% yield.

        화력발전소 바텀애쉬와 수산화나트륨 활성화제를 이용해 제작한 지오폴리머의 압축강도 특성

        When a new bonding agent using coal ash is utilized as a substitute for cement, it has the advantages of offering a reduction in the generation of carbon dioxide and securing the initial mechanical strength such that the agent has attracted strong interest from recycling and eco-friendly construction industries. This study aims to establish the production conditions of new hardening materials using clean bottom ash and an alkali activation process to evaluate the characteristics of newly manufactured hardening materials. The alkali activator for the compression process uses a NaOH solution. This study concentrated on strength development according to the concentration of the NaOH solution, the curing temperature, and the curing time. The highest compressive strength of a compressed body appeared at 61.24MPa after curing at $60^{\circ}C$ for 28 days. This result indicates that a higher curing temperature is required to obtain a higher strength body. Also, the degree of geopolymerization was examined using a scanning electron microscope, revealing a micro-structure consisting of a glass-like matrix and crystalized grains. The microstructures generated from the activation reaction of sodium hydroxide were widely distributed in terms of the factors that exercise an effect on the compressive strength of the geopolymer hardening bodies. The Si/Al ratio of the geopolymer having the maximum strength was about 2.41.

        CaO-SiO<sub>2</sub>-PEEK 생체복합체의 제조와 in-vitro 특성평가

        A bio-composites were prepared by mechanical mixing with bioactive sol-gel derived $CaO-SiO_2$ and organic PEEK for bone repairing hybrid materials. The composites were characterized by in-vitro test. A bonelike apatite was formed on the surface of all bio-composites in SBF test. The cell morphology and adhesion on the surface of the composites having below 30% PEEK were clearly observed in L929 cell experiment.

      • 석탄회를 이용한 제올라이트의 수열합성

        Phillipsite-type zeolite powders were synthesized from domestic coal fly ash by hydrothermal reaction with 2.0 M-3.5M NaOH solution at $80^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. The properties of zeolite were investigated by XRD, SEM and IR spectroscopy. The effects of chemical composition of fly ash, reaction temperature and NaOH concentration on the zeolite synthesis were well appeared on IR spectra. It is found that the $TO_4$(T=Si, Al) tetrahedra have a well ordered structure as the $SiO_2$ content, synthesis temperature and NaOH concentration become high. 국내의 화력발전소에서 발생하는 석탄회를 사용하여 $2.0M\sim3.5M$ 농도의 NaOH 수용액과 $80^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$에서 24시간 수열 반응시켜 필립사이트 형 제올라이트를 합성하였다. 합성된 제올라이트 분말의 특성을 XRD, SEM, IR 등을 이용하여 조사하였다. 석탄회의 산지에 따른 조성변화, 합성 시의 온도 및 NaOH의 농도 변화 등이 수열 합성된 제올라이트에 미치는 영향은 IR 흡수 스펙트럼에서 잘 나타났다. 석탄회의 $SiO_2$함량이 높고 합성온도와 NaOH 농도가 높을 수록 $TO_4$(T=Si, Al) 사면체가 규칙성이 높은 구조로 합성되었다.

        Effect of Attrition Scrubbing on the Recovery of Platinum Group Metals from Spent Automobile Catalytic Converters

        The effect of attrition scrubbing on the recovery of platinum group metals (PGMs) from automobile catalytic converters has been investigated. Catalytic converters were first crushed into particles less than 2 mm and attrition scrubbed in the range of 60 min, and then they were sieved with several screens. The catalyst layer, $\gamma$-alumina, was dislodged from the surface of the supporting matrix into fine particles less than $45{\mu}m$ by attrition scrubbing. The fraction of fine particles less than $45{\mu}m$ increased as the residence time for attrition scrubbing increased. The composition of the fine fraction obtained at a residence time of 40 min was $CeO_2$ 19.3%, $ZrO_2$ 1.9% and PGMs 419 ppm. In the fine fraction, the recovery of y-alumina increased proportionally to the residence time. Simultaneously, the recovery rates of $CeO_2$, $ZrO_2$ and PGMs increased to 82.9%, 78.7% and 78.9%, respectively. The production of the fine fraction less than $45{\mu}m$ and the recovery of $\gamma$-alumina increased when the solid concentration and initial feed size increased. Therefore, the attrition scrubbing as the comminution and separation process was concerned to be effective for the recovery of catalyst layer from ceramic supporting matrix by physical impact and shearing action between particles in the scrubbing vessel. 자동차 폐촉매로부터 백금족 금속(PGMs)의 회수를 위한 어트리션 스크러빙의 효과를 조사하였다. 자동차 폐촉매를 2mm이하로 분쇄한 후 60분 범위내에서 어트리션 스크러빙하였으며 이를 체가름하였다. 스크러빙을 통해 촉매층은 촉매 지지체 표면으로부터 탈리되어 $45{\mu}m$이하의 미립자로 분리되었다. $45{\mu}m$ 이하 미립자의 양은 스크러빙 시간이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 스크러빙 시간 40분에서 미립자의 유가물 함량은 $CeO_2$ 19.3%, $ZrO_2$ 1.9%, PGMs 419ppm을 나타내었다. 미립자에서 감마 알루미나의 회수율은 스크러빙 시간이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 동시에 $CeO_2$, $ZrO_2$ 및 PGMs의 회수율도 $CeO_2$ 82.9%, $ZrO_2$ 78.7%, PGMs 78.9%로 증가하였다. 시료의 고액비 및 초기 투입 입자 크기가 증가할 때 미립자의 양 및 감마알루미나의 회수율은 증가하였다. 어트리션 스크러빙은 분쇄 및 분리 기술로서 스크러빙 용기내에서 입자들 사이의 충격 및 전단 운동에 의해 코디어라이트 촉매 지지체로부터 감마알루미나의 분리에 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.
