Recently LED has been widely applied in automobile Lightings There are new applications in the headlamp for automiblies. Standard setting is on a fast track. The larger LED headlight market scale, the more important standardization of performance evaluation techniques to clearly prescribe the product specification. The results are compared with national and international standards of LED headlamp for automobile.

Fluorescent induction lamps are assembly of a Low Pressure Mercury discharge vessel and an inductive power coupler. A vessel containing at least a Low Pressure Mercury vapor, which will be energized by means of the Inductive Coupler. The Ultra Violet radiation from the resulting discharge is converted by a layer of fluorescent material into visible light. The discharge vessel may have means of mechanical fixation to position it to the Inductive power coupler. The component to transform High Frequency electrical energy, by means of induction, in order to energize the Low Pressure Mercury in the discharge vessel. The component includes electrical connection. Fluorescent induction lamps don’t have international standards yet. So we try to correspond Korea standards to international standards.

BLUs(Backlight Units) are major component in LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) industry which occupies 90% or more of worldwide FPD(Flat Panel Display) market. And BLU market is expected to be expanded continuously according to the trend of miniaturization, slimness, low power consumption and low weight. The larger the BLU market scale, the more important standardization of performance evaluation techniques to clearly prescribe the product specification. This document is a generic specification of measurement methods of LED BLU for LCDs. It defines general procedures for quality assessment and gives general rules for measuring methods of LED BLU for LCDs.

BLUs are major component in LCD industry which occupies 90% or more of FPD market worldwide and BLU market is expected to be expanded continuously according to the trend of miniaturization, slimness, low power consumption and low weight. The larger the BLU market scale, the more important standardization of performance evaluation techniques to clearly prescribe the product specification. Currently the government is promoting the establishment of related laws and coincidence with international standards to cope with agreements such as WTO/TBT, but the nongovernmental standardization activities are not enough to be actualized. Furthermore, BLU related components such as CCFL, EEFL, inverter and reflector are already developed for localization to substitute imports with home products but collective standardization, national standardization, and international standardization are still not done. So, performance specifications and evaluation methods for normal fluorescent lamps or industrial lamps are being adopted and used as national standards and safety certification standards instead. Making these standards enables to prepare a chance to penetrate into global market and to promote world best products. Also, by making this collective standard, it provides chances to take part in international standardization activities, to protect domestic industries and technologies, to obtain the σend of advanced technologies, and to be predominant over other countries. That is to say, CCFL standardization helps raise 21st century national strategic technology policy and go ahead of globalization of core technologies.
형광등 대체용 LED조명과 CNT조명에 대한 전기적ㆍ광학적특성의 비교고찰

본 논문에서는 LED(light emitting diode)조명과 CNT(carbon nano-tube)조명에 대한 전기적인 특성과 광학적 특성을 측정하여 비교하고 고찰하였다. 특히 IES format 파일을 사용하여 각각의 조명등기구에 대한 LID(luminous intensity distribution) 분석과 조도 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 최대 및 최소, 그리고 평균조도 등을 분석하였다. 향후 LED 및 CNT 신광원은 면조명으로의 관련 기술기준 및 규격의 작성시 참고자료로 활용될 것으로 판단된다. In this paper, we have measured and compared the optical and electrical characteristics of LED(light emitting diode) and CNT(carbon nano-tube) lightings. Especially, the IES format files are used for each of the luminaire LID(luminous intensity distribution) analysis and light level simulation for analyze the maximum, minimum, and average light level. In the future, when CNT and the LED based lighting technology standards are writing, this data will be used in judging.
EEFL BLU 구동용 인버터 최적화 설계에 대한 연구

EEFL(External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp) for LCD displays are analyzed on electrical and optical characteristics by various electrode length. The electrodes of EEFL are coated at the outside of the glass tube. Brightness and efficiency of the EEFL are affected on lamp impedance characteristic. So, the experimental models are proposed for analysis and measurements of the brightness and efficiency of the lamps according to the electrode length. The sample of LCD backlight unit is used for these experiments, EEFL arrayed BLU of 32" for commercial TV display. The parameters of the experiments were quantised for simple result reading as the length of electrodes as 15, 23 and 30 ㎜. The inverter was designed and manufactured in the laboratory as the Full-Bridge switching inverter. The feature of the output were measured on voltages about 1000 - 1400V at the currents of 11 - 29 mA and the brightness 15,000 cd/㎡ - 40,000 cd/㎡. The experiments have shown that the brightness are increased by increasing of the electrode lengths which have the lamp currents increased. But at an certain conditions, the brightness and efficiency were decreased because of unmatched between the inverter output and lamp impedance. The optimum applications of the EEFL BLU of 32" in this experiments have been shown to choose the parameters for driving frequencies of 100 ㎑ - 150 ㎑, the brightness of 18,000 - 19,000 cd/㎡ and efficiencies of 40 - 45 lm/w.
