자아존중감 향상을 위한 특성화고등학교 국어 수업의 실제 -TV 드라마 <미생>을 제재로-

본 연구는 인천광역시 소재 I특성화고등학교에 국어과 교사로 근무하며, TV 드라마 <미생>을 활용하여 문학치료 수업을 진행한 사례를 제시하여 특성화고등학교 자아존중감을 향상하는데 어느 정도 유효한지 그 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구자의 실용국어 수업을 듣는 2학년 여학생 총 76명을 대상으로, 2021년 9월 1일부터 2021년 9월 12일까지 주 2회, 4차시에 걸쳐 진행되었다. TV 드라마 <미생>은 사회초년생들이 기존 사회에 적응, 편입하는 이야기를 다루고 있다. 이는 특성화고등학교 학생들의 삶의 관심과 맞닿아 있어, 가까운 미래에 취업하게 될 학생들이 자기 삶을 기획해보게 하며, 지금 나에게 필요한 것은 무엇인지를 생각해보게 한다. 또 주인공이 어려움을 겪는 과정을 동일시하여 카타르시스를 느끼고 통찰하는 과정에서 일어난 자신의 심리적 변화를 진솔하게 글로 표현하고, 친구들로부터 공감이나 지지와 같은 긍정적 피드백을 받는 과정을 통해 내면의 성장을 이루고 자아존중감을 향상시킬 수 있다. 학생들은 4차시에 걸친 문학치료 수업을 통해 과거 자신의 삶을 돌아보는 경험을 하고, 문제의 원인을 타인에게서 찾던 것에서 벗어나 자신이 바뀌려는 노력을 전개하는 등 자기서사를 수정하려는 노력을 보였으며, 자신이 쓴 글을 친구들과 함께 읽고 자신의 생각을 표현하는 과정에서 자아존중감이 향상된 것을 느꼈다. 이는 <미생>의 등장인물과 동일시하는 과정에서 자기 내면의 두려움과 직면하고 통찰할 수 있는 시간을 가진 것이 도움이 되었을 것이다. 또 불안, 두려움과 같은 부정적인 감정을 표현하고, 더 나아가 주변 친구들에게 공감이나 지지와 같은 긍정적 피드백을 받은 경험이 자아존중감 향상에 도움이 되었을 것이다. 본 연구는 특성화고등학교 학교 현장에서 학생들 상담 자료로 활용할 수 있는 문학치료 수업을 제시했다는 점에 의의가 있다. 그러나 이 연구는 인천의 일부 특성화고등학교 학생을 대상으로 진행된 연구이기 때문에 특성화 고등학교 학생 전체로 일반화하는데 어려움이 있다. 또 급격하게 신체와 정신의 발달을 거치는 과정에 있는 청소년들에게 성별, 연령별 차이는 충분한 고려의 대상이지만, 본 연구에서는 일부 특성화고등학교 여학생을 대상으로 한 연구인지라 확대 연구가 필요하며, 후속 연구에서는 학교급별, 성별, 연령별 차이를 고려한 연구를 통해 보다 체계적인 분석이 이루어지기를 기대한다. This study verifies the effectiveness of utilizing the TV drama Misaeng in a literature therapy class with the aim of enhanceing self-respect among students at I Specialized High School, Incheon City, where the researcher worked as a Korean language teacher. Seventy-six second-year female students attending the researcher's practical Korean language class were targeted. The classes were conducted twice a week, for a total of four sessions, from September 1, 2021. Misaeng depicts the stories of young adults entering and adapting to existing society. It resonates with the interests of students at specialized high schools as it prompts them to envision their own lives and consider what they need to succeed in their future careers. By identifying with the protagonist's struggles, students can experience catharsis and gain insights into their psychological changes, which they can express sincerely in writing. By receiving positive feedback such as empathy and support from friends, they can achieve inner growth and enhance their self-respect. Through literature therapy classes spanning four sessions, students had the opportunity to reflect on their past lives and move away from seeking the causes of their problems. Instead, they made efforts to modify their own self-narratives and showed willingness to change. By reading their written works and expressing their thoughts to their friends, they experienced an improvement in their self-respect. This process, which paralleled the experiences of the characters in Misaeng, provided them with a chance to confront and gain insights into their inner fears. Additionally, expressing negative emotions such as anxiety and fear. and receiving positive feedback such as empathy and support from peers likely contributed to enhancing self-respect. The findings confirm the value of a literature therapy class that can be used as counseling material for students in specialized high schools. However, the narrowness of the sample makes generalizability to all specialized high school students uncertain. Given the rapid physical and mental development of adolescents, gender and age differences should be considered. As this study specifically focused on a subset of female students from specialized high schools, further research must include school level, gender, and age differences for a comprehensive analysis.
