Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes at skeletal maturity after a calcaneo-cuboid-cuneiform osteotomy (triple C osteotomy) for symptomatic flatfoot deformity compared with healthy young adult controls. Methods: Nineteen patients (30 feet) who undergone a triple C osteotomy for idiopathic symptomatic flatfeet from July 2006 to April 2013 were compared with 19 controls (38 feet). Radiographic measurements at preoperative examination, 1-year postoperative follow-up, and follow-up at skeletal maturity were evaluated. Functional outcomes were assessed by using the validated visual analog scale foot and ankle (VAS-FA) and the modified American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery (AOFAS) score. Results: In the triple C osteotomy group, 11 of 12 radiographic measurements were significantly improved at 1 year postoperatively and the last follow-up (p < 0.001). There was no recurrence at skeletal maturity (p > 0.05). There were no significant differences in nine of 12 radiographic measurements between the triple C osteotomy group at maturity and the control group (p > 0.05). Average VAS-FA and AOFAS scores were significantly improved at the time of skeletal maturity (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Surgical correction of symptomatic flatfoot deformity in childhood resulted in favorable outcomes after the triple C osteotomy. Deformity correction was also maintained during follow-up at skeletal maturity.

PURPOSES: In this study, we evaluated changes in the retroreflectivity and luminance of phosphorescent road line markings with changes in glass beads and line marking thickness. METHODS : The color of line markings affects their retroreflectivity. Using a chromaticity test, we conducted the analysis of whether phosphorescent road line markings adhered to the「 KS M 6080」standard. Then, we measured the dry retroreflectivity and wet retroreflectivity for various glass bead refractive indices. We conducted wet retroreflectivity test using the EN 1436 standard as the basis. We also conducted luminance tests for different glass bead refractive indices and line marking thicknesses. RESULTS : 1. Phosphorescent road line markings specimens satisfied the 「KS M 6080」standard. 2. In dry retroreflectivity test, phosphorescent road line markings sprayed with glass beads satisfied the national police agency standard (240 mcd/(m2₩Lux)). Wet retroreflectivity test results showed that except for one type of No.1 glass beads, phosphorescent road line markings specimens sprayed with glass beads of one type of No.3 and two types of No.1 satisfied the national police agency standard (100 mcd/(m2₩Lux)). 3. Phosphorescent road line markings had higher retroreflectivity than non-phosphorescent road line markings in the dry condition. 4. Phosphorescent road line markings sprayed with glass beads demonstrated improved luminance. Luminance increased with higher glass bead refractive index and with increased line marking thickness. However, when the thickness crossed a certain threshold, phosphorescence ceased to increase; this is a characteristic of the phosphorescence phenomenon. CONCLUSIONS : Visibility across short distances can be ensured when phosphorescent road line markings are sprayed with glass beads, because of the retroreflection phenomenon. It is also possible to ensure far visibility using phosphorescent road line markings.

슬관절의 반월상 연골내 소골은 반월상 연골조직 내에 발생한 골조직으로, 사람에게서는 매우 드문 것으로 보고되고 있다. 저자들은 특별한 외상의 병력 없이 기립 시 발생하는 슬관절통과 간헐적인 잠김증상을 보이는 48세 남자에서 관절경상 내측 반월상 연골 후방 경골 부착부 파열을 동반한 반월상 연골내 소골과 대퇴내과 연골손상으로 관절경적 절제술 및 미세천공술을 시행한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Meniscal ossicle of the knee, an ossified tissue formed within the meniscus, is rare in humans. We experienced a case of a 48-yearold male with no history of trauma, who presented with intermittent locking symptoms and knee pain upon standing. The patient was diagnosed with meniscal ossicle and cartilage lesion in the medial femoral condyle accompanied by a medial meniscus posterior horn radial tear and treated with arthroscopic resection and microfracture. Therefore, we report on this case with relevant literature.

좌측 고관절 주위 골격근에 발생한 역형성 대세포 림프종

역형성 대세포 림프종은 Stein 등에 의해 1985년 처음으로 기술된 비호즈킨 림프종의 아형으로 대부분 림프절을 침범하나 위장관, 피부, 뼈, 중추 신경계, 폐 등에 원발성으로 림프절외 림프종이 발생할 수 있다. 그러나 골격근에 발생하는 원발성 역형성 대세포 림프종은 극히 드물다. 저자들은 9세 여아에서 장요근에서 내전근, 치골근, 폐쇄근까지 연결되는 원발성 역형성 대세포 림프종을 1예 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하고자 한다. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, that was first described by Stein et al. in 1985. In most cases, ALCL invades the lymph nodes, but primary extranodal lymphoma can occur in the gastrointestinal tract, skin, bone, central nervous system, and lungs. Moreover, the occurrence of primary ALCL in the skeletal muscle is extremely rare. This paper reports a case of primary ALCL involving the iliopsoas, adductor, pectineus, and obturator muscles around the left hip in a nine-year-old girl with a review of the relevant literature.
