경찰공무원의 외상 후 성장에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 수도권 지역내 경찰공무원을 중심으로

본 연구는 서울 및 경기지역에서 근무하는 경찰공무원을 대상으로 외상 후 성장의 영향요인의 구조적 관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 외상 후 성장과 관련된 이론적 모형을 근거로 개인적 요인과 주변·환경적인 요인으로 구분하였다. 또한 삶의 위기에 대한 대처방식인 의도적 반추와 외상 후 성장과의 관계를 검증하였다. 외상 후 성장에 영향을 미치는 개인적 요인과 관련해서는 자아 탄력성을 포함하였다. 주변·환경적 요인에서는 사회적 지지를 활용하였다.연구 결과, 첫째 경찰관의 외상 후 성장을 증가시키는 요인은 사회적 지지와 의도적 반추임을 확인할 수 있었다. 외상경험이 있는 경찰관이 가족이나 동료들로부터 정서적 지원이나 도움을 받는다고 인식할수록 외상사건에 대한 의미를 발견하고 정신적으로 성장할 수 있다는 점을 연구결과를 통해 검증할 수 있었다. 둘째, 의도적 반추는 외상 후 성장을 이끌어 내는 중요한 변인임을 실증적인 연구결과를 통해 검증하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 경찰관이 끔찍한 외상사건을 경험하였다 하더라도, 그 상황의 긍정적인 면을 찾아 기억할 수 있도록 노력하고 외상으로 인한 불안정한 심리상태를 어떻게 극복할지 모색하는 것이 중요하다.향후 연구에서는 다양한 연구방법을 통해 경찰관의 외상 후 성장을 이끌어 내는 영향요인을 파악하여 경찰관의 정신건강과 심리적 안정에 도움을 줄 수 있는 정책이 필요하다. This study is designed to examine Structural relation between influential factors of post traumatic growth(PTG) for police officers engaged in the metropolitan cities by structural equation modeling(SEM). This study has two areas where individual factor and environmental factor are divided that is based on PTG` theoretical model. In addition, it tests the relation between rumination as an alternative to life crisis and PTG. In this study, PTG includes self-resilience as individual factors and social support as environmental factors. In result, firstly, social support and rumination are founded as influential factors that facilitate PTG for police officers. Thus, the police officers who suffer from trauma events are able to overcome psychological stress and trouble when they recognize that their family and colleagues help them. Secondly, rumination is proved as the important factor for increasing PTG. This result indicates that even though police officers suffer from trauma events, efforts on finding positive aspects of the trauma events and overcoming psychological instability are highly significant. After all, further studies are needed to suggest helpful policy for facilitating police officers` PTG through various ways, so it can assist police officers to stabilize their psychological condition and overcome post-traumatic stress disorder.
