본고에서는 〈꼬부랑 할머니〉 유형 설화 66편을 대상으로 삼아, 이 작품의 구연 과정에서 드러나는 콘텍스트를 고찰하였다. 이러한 도정에서 66편의 각편을 하나씩 점검하여 자료집에 기술된 내용과 음성파일에 녹음된 실제 구연 내용을 대조하여 서면에 누락되거나 오기된 내용들을 확인하였다. 한편 〈꼬부랑 할머니〉의 구연과정에서 드러나는 특징 가운데 하나는 이 작품을 구연하는 화자의 반응과 이야기를 접하는 청자의 반응이 ‘재미’와 ‘웃음’으로 일치하는 경우가 많았다는 점이었다. 이 같은 특징을 통해 〈꼬부랑 할머니〉의 콘텍스트를 이해하는 작업에서 반드시 검토해야 할 개념이 재미와 웃음이라는 것을, 더하여 이 작품에서 발생하는 재미와 웃음을 화자와 청자의 관계에서 탐색해야 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그 결과, 〈꼬부랑 할머니〉의 구술적 연행은 화자와 청자 사이의 쌍방향적 연행이자 동시에 인지적 대결-게임(game)-이었다는 점을 논의하였다. This paper examined the context in the oral performance of 66 versions of a folktale called <The Crooked Old Woman>. By reviewing the 66 versions of the folktale one by one, the study compared and contrasted the content described in the collection and the actual context of oral performance recorded in a voice file, and checked any parts omitted in writing or wrongly written. Meanwhile, one of the distinctive features during the oral performance of <The Crooked Old Woman> was that the reactions of the speaker who gave an oral performance of this work and the listener of this story often corresponded as ‘fun’ and ‘laughter’. This feature could confirm that the concept of fun and laughter must be reviewed to understand the context of <The Crooked Old Woman>, and that the fun and laughter in this work must be examined in terms of the relationship between the speaker and the listener. As a result, this paper discussed that the oral performance of <The Crooked Old Woman> was a mutual performance between the speaker and the listener as well as a cognitive confrontation and game at the same time.
