1. In 1963, the Central Education Research Institute published the Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale(KWIS) which is the first test for individual use in Korea, but its application is limited to subjects above 12 Years old. So, under the age of 11, we have not been able to measure children's intelligence unless we use the paper-and-pencil tests for group. 2. To overcome that limits, the Kodae-Binet Scale (K-B Scale) aimed to measure the intelligence of boys and girls whose age are from 4 to 14. 3. The contents of the K-B Scale were similar to the Stanford-Binet Scale (S-B Scale), The construction of the K-B Scale was based on analysis and classfication of the 1937-version of S-B Scale 88 questions were derived from that version. However, there was a minor change compared with the original S-B Scale. 4. Thirty-one students majoring in psychology at Korea University were, trained for administering the test. Each student was obliged to submit 44 cases; two boys and two girls in each year level. 5. 1186 cases were collected and analyzed. The standards of item selection were as follows; (1) Each year level should have six questions out of eight. (2) In every items, 50 percent of passing was considered as the best item and 40-60 percent was considered as tolerable. (3) A variety of abilities should be tested at each year level. The details of 66 items were described in the full report. 6. The total scores were derived according to the new items which had been selected. From the results it was shown that the mean scores (IQ unit) range from 88.95 to 96.12, and SD from 14.00 to 16.70. 7. To reduce the ceiling effect, special scoring system for group of 14 Year old should be prepared. 8. Broadening of the representative sample and preparation of the deviation IQ scale are needed as future task.
