이 연구는 디지털 방송의 특정한 기술적 속성들 특히 양방향 서비스와 관련된 속성들을 탐구하고 그것이 어떤 원리로 새로운 방송 콘텐츠를 창출하는데 기여하는지 정리하며, 나아가 그것이 지닌 문화적 함의는 무엇인지를 고찰하고자 한다. 이러한 논의를 통해 디지털 방송의 콘텐츠는 어떤 매체미학적 특징을 지니고 있으며, 그 개발 방향은 어떤 과제를 안고 있는지 드러내고자 하는 것이다. 먼저 디지털 방송 콘텐츠는 수용자의 상호작용에 개방되어 있는 구조로 모듈성의 특징을 뚜렷이 드러낼 것이다. 또한 디지털 방송 콘텐츠는 개별 수용자의 요구에 각각 부응할 수 있는 기술적 기반을 통해 방송 수용행위에 변화를 가져올 뿐만 아니라 반복적으로 재가공될 수 있는 콘텐츠의 가능성에 중요한 가치를 부여하게 된다. 나아가 디지털 방송 콘텐츠는 다중 플랫폼을 통해 활용됨으로써 더 이상 방송의 영역에만 머물러 있지 않게 된다. 이러한 변화는 디지털 방송 콘텐츠를 수용하는 행위에 대한 이해, 콘텐츠와 더불어 연동할 수밖에 없는 인터페이스의 개발, 콘텐츠 제작 방법론의 전환과 같은 과제를 제시해준다. This study is to delve into the media aesthetical aspects of interactive broadcasting technologies and their cultural meanings. The interactive broadcasting technologies have all the new features to change of broadcasting contents forms and audiences' television viewing behaviors. The first of the features is the modularity of digital contents, which have the potentials to divide the television contents into the meaningful parts. The modularity allows audiences to choose what they want to watch, and producers to make the module based television contents. The second feature is the addressability. With this feature television contents producers have the possibility to use the audience's individual needs and tastes. The third one to make change on the production of television contents is the interoperability. In the interactive broadcasting contexts, audience can access to the multiple platforms to watch and use the television contents. Theses features would change the overall television viewing and using contexts.
