In this paper, we present a performance improvement technique of an iterative SISO (Soft Input Soft Output) decoding algorithm for block Turbo code with Hamming constituent codes which are being used in the field of digital communication systems. As the number of iterations increase, it can obtain the high BER performance over AWGN channel environment. However, if the number of iterations is increased in the channel environment, it has the disadvantage of increasing the delay time for the decoding. In this paper, we propose an efficient decoding method to stop the iteration decoding through syndrome testing using the low complexity SISO decoding algorithm. Also, we show that it has some significant performance enhancement compared to the conventional decoding method when multiplying a value of LLR (Log Likelihood Ratio) with an alpha value obtained by computer simulation.

In this paper, we researched an iterative SISO decoding algorithm for BPTC of DMR system. Block turbo codes, suggested by Pyndiah in 1998, have been used on communication systems, because the time delay for the decoding is less and the construction is simpler than LDPC. In this paper, we used the low complexity SISO decoding algorithm based on syndrome. When a LLR value of the algorithm is calculated, it emerges the an infinity value for some cases. To solve the problem, we set the extrinsic value as an appropriate value obtained by computer simulation. Also, we show that the performance of the BPTC has about 3dB through computer simulation in AWGN channel environment.

The conventional decoding methods such as Kasami and arithmetic algorithm have some complexity problems for decoding and do not achieve the optimum BER(Bit Error Rate) performance. To improve the performance, we can use the MLD(Maximum Likelihood Decoding) of linear block codes but if this technique is applied to Golay code, we need to store 2<SUP>12</SUP> candidate codewords for decoding, which causes the high complexity. In this paper, we present an efficient decoding technique that achieves the outstanding BER performance while reducing the complexity by segregating the generator matrix of Golay code. As a result of simulation, the performance gain for the proposed algorithm is improved by about 1.3~1.9dB compared to conventional decoding technique. Also, we show that the proposed algorithm requires a much smaller memory size compared to the conventional maximum likelihood decoding.

In this paper, we propose an optimum decoding method for Hamming code of (7,4,3) and (15,11,3) in DMR(Digital Mobile Radio) system. DMR is an open digital radio standard for PMR(Professional Mobile Radio) users. In the UK used as PMR, North America used as LMR(Land Mobile Radio) and restricted users communicated through TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) with full duplex wireless communication. We verify the performance through the simulation in the additive white gaussian noise(AWGN) channel when applying optimum decoding methode to Hamming. We find that there is some performance enhancement by more than 1dB compared to the conventional syndrome decoding method. This proposed method is based on the maximum likelihood decoding(MLD) with reduced complexity.

In this paper, we propose a method to extract meta-data efficiently in TETRA(Terrestrial Trunked Radio) system without call setup, which is based on the correlation calculation between received data and specific training sequences. In Korea, TETRA system which were standardized by ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has been selected for Korean TRS(Trunked Radio System) for rapid response in the event of an emergency situation or disaster. The meta-data is called an attribute information since it describes other structured information. These meta-data are often used for locating firemen or rescuers efficiently in the event of an emergency situation or disaster.

In this paper, we propose a method to extract meta-data in DMR(Digital Mobile Radio) system using synchronization patterns in received data and voice. First, we search burst location using synchronization patterns and extract Meta-data using BPTC decoding. From the results of synchronization patterns, we can find burst location and extract Meta-data through analysis. DMR system which were standardized by ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has been evaluated as technology that replaces TETRA(Terrestrial Trunked Radio) standards for emergency communication network system. There are many kinds of meta-data among which the descriptive meta-data includes information resource and identification. So, we will find data types and features from the descriptive meta-data. Furthermore, we will be able to manage the emergency situation or disaster effectively by analyzing data type and identifier address.
