This study analyses the sidelobe characteristic in azimuth of forward-looking imaging radar, which adopts the bistatic configuration, and proposes the reduction method of it. The back-projection (BP) algorithm based on time domain has been well applied to the short-range imaging radar. However, BP algorithm has a limitation for the sidelobe reduction because it is difficult to apply the conventional shift-invariant windows like hamming and hanning, etc. We analyzed the sidelobe characteristic on an image obtained by BP algorithm in bistatic system. We proposed a sidelobe reduction method which applied apodization and SVA (Spatially Variant Apodization) method to the result of BP algorithm. Then we verified performance of the proposed technique by simulation.

Gallbladder carcinoma is the most common primary hepatobiliary carcinoma and the fifth most common malignancy of the GI tract. The most common type of gallbladder carcinoma is adenocarcinoma. Squamous cell carcinoma of the gallbladder is rarer and is responsible for up to 12.7% of gallbladder tumors. A 78-year-old man was incidentally suspected of having a gallbladder mass on an abdominal CT scan and underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Pathology results confirmed the mass as a squamous cell carcinoma. Here we report a case of keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma of the gallbladder and review the literature.
