본 논문은 오염저감시설 없이 진행된 SS 매립지의 폐기물의 성상과 침출수 등의 특성 및 매립가스에 의한 위해 가능성을 예측하는데 그 목적이 있다. 조사 대상 구역은 1998년 7월부터 2010년 6월까지 약 12년동안 J군의 생활 폐기물을 매립하여온 SS매립지 이다. 매립가스같은 경우 modified Ruswell equation 을 이용하여 가스 방출량을 예측 하였고, 침출수 같은 경우 25개의 유해 항목중 12개 항목을 포함 총 20개 항목에 대하여 수질을 분석 하였다. 특히 매립가스 같은 경우 주요 평가 기준은 NMOC 이다. 대부분 매립지에서 일반적으로 검출되는 벤젠, 툴루엔, 크실렌, 황화수소, 디클로로메탄 등을 분석하여 타매립지의 농도 및 threshold limitvalues(TLV)와 비교하여 범위의 하한치 값을 나타내어야 한다. 본 연구는 SS 매립지의 매립층 조사 및 폐기물 성상 분석 결과, 음식물 및 종이와 같은 분해성이 좋은 폐기물의 분해의 진전도 및 매립가스 중에 존재하는 벤젠을 포함한 5개 항목의 NMOC에 대한 가스분석결과를 포함, 매립지 표면발산시험에서도 NMOC 발산량 및 CH<sub>4</sub> 발산농도는 크지 않아 매립가스에 의한 위해 가능성이 크지 않음을 확인시켜주는 연구이었다. There are many unsanitary landfill without any environmental pollution control system such as liner, cover, leachate drainage, and landfill gas collecting system etc, which usually have been disposed rural waste in suburbs. Although the main role of sanitary landfill in the current situation is to ensure a waste disposal with minimal environmental impact, it can be a lot of hazardous waste fraction collected in the households such as batteries, medicine, paints and detergents in rural landfill. Due to those hazardous waste of rural landfill, gas released from the waste, by degradation of the waste or by volatilzation of wate components, will migrate out of the filled area or into the soil of the adjacent fields. Therefore investigations have to be made if there has any environmental impact in landfill and circumference. In this study, a series of field and laboratory experiments has been performed to investigate the characteristics of solid waste and assessment of environmental impact of landfill gas in the SS landfill in Jangsu-gun, The fraction of ash in solid waste of SS landfill is larger than it of degradable solid exceedingly because 12 years have passed since rural waste deposited.
