        국내 석면 고형시료 중 석면의 종류 및 함유량에 관한 연구

        Objectives: According to the compliance of the asbestos-related regulation, every building has to be inspected for asbestos presence before its abatement work. This study was performed for identifying the types and contents of asbestos in building bulk samples. Materials and Methods Materials and Methods: Bulk samples were collected during the asbestos inspection in 2010. We grouped the bulk samples into the regulated asbestos containing materials(RACM), presumed asbestos containing materials(PACM), and construction products. Additionally, the types of asbestos in all bulk samples were identified by polarization microscopy(PLM). Results: The RACMs were from building, house, pipe and facility. The RACMs were found mainly building (72.1%) and house (93.7%). The contents of chrysotile in building, house and facility were 66.9% (1-90%), 89.7% (2-90%) and 11.0% (2-90%), respectively. PACMs were surfacing material, thermal system insulation (TSI), and miscellaneous material. The miscellaneous materials that showed a high detection rate (79.2%) were ceiling, roofing and wall materials. Among them, the roofing materials had high chrysotile content(9.7%, 2-21%), followed by wall (8.7%, 2-21%) and ceiling (3.4%, 1-17%). In the construction products, asbestos was found mainly in slate (92.6%, 2-21%), including chrysotile. The slate had high asbestos content (9.7%, 2-21%), followed by cement flat board (8.7%, 2-19%) and textile (3.4%, 1-17%) Conclusions: Utilizing these results, it would be contributed to construct a useful ACM database and prevent from asbestos exposure to workers in the asbestos abatement and maintenance works..

      • 濟州島의 海藻相 I. 갈파래 科

        제주도 연안의 해조류에 대한 구계론적 연구를 수행하기 위하여 우선 갈파래과 식물 13종을 기재하였다. 즉, 갈파래속 4종, 애기파래속(신칭) 1종, 파래속 7종 및 매생이속 1종으로, 그 중 참갈파래(Ulva lactuca Linne)와 매생이 (Capsosiphon fulvescens (AG.) Setch. et Gardn.)는 제주도에 생육하고 있음이 처음으로 밝혀졌으며 털가지파래 (Enteromorpha multiramosa Bliding)는 우리나라에서 처음으로 그 생육이 보고되는 미기록종이다. As a part to investigate marine algal flora of Cheju Island, Ulvaceae, Chlorophyta, was identified and described in this paper. Twelve species in total were four Ulvas, one Blidingia, six Enteromorphas and one Capsosiphon. Among them Ulva lactuca Linne and Capsosiphon Fulvescens(C.Ag.) Setchell et Gardner were first described in this island. Enteromorpha multiramosa Bliding was recorded for the first time in Korea.

      • Yttria Stabilized Zirconia Synthesis via Hydrothermal Assisted Sol-Gel Method Using PVA as Stabilizing Agent

        Zirconia has many excellent mechanical properties which has helped it gain attention as a dental material. Sol-gel method is universally accepted as the best method for the synthesis of zirconia. Here we have tried to synthesize zirconia by combining hydrothermal and sol-gel method. NaOH is added as the precipitating agent who forms salt in the reaction mixture which can be easily separated from the final solution. Zirconium and yttrium salts are used as precursors and PVA is used to separate the metal ions. Finally the zirconia powder obtained is calcined at 900oC for 2hrs. XRD analysis was done on the samples to confirm the crystal structure of the synthesized zirconia. SEM was taken to check the morphology of zirconia. Finally transparency of the synthesized zirconia was checked which shows that 10% PVA shows highest percentage of transparency among all the synthesized powder.
